You gotta stop steam and simply activate the uplay stuff right? Steam gets torqued if you VPN their stuff, right?

Runs well (50-60fps - vsync) with GTX580 SLI and 3930K, both at stock. It's not Crysis, but it looks very good mostly.

HDAO and MSAA incur a massive performance hit in this game, particularly MSAA above 4x and the HDAO setting.

SLI is also not working in the game, as usual like so many other newly released games :colbert: There is a bits to force it on and it greatly improves the framerate, but it seems inefficient as even on settings that allow me to go over 60FPS - whether I enable vsync or not -my cards are locked at 99% usage and are giving me the highest temperatures I've ever seen; 50C at times.

I can run the game with everything maxed, 2xMSAA and HBAO for 60FPS solid, but I do 4xMSAA and HBAO for about 50FPS average. Enabling HDAO with any settings costs about 15FPS... pretty massive performance hit.

apparently adding Far Cry 3 Dx 11.exe to the SLI profile will boost performance as indicated in post #211 here

Yeah you have to add the .exe to the profile to get SLI to function at all, the performance is very bad though. It ends up splitting the load of a single card between two. You have to also add the bits to actually get SLI to scale.

pita.

sorry to hear it man.

i gave up my two card solution 6 months ago. just got tired of poor optimization on release day...

but they will fix it. give it a week and you will be out performing all of us single gpu folk

I'm using Afterburner to monitor FPS.
I have not found a built in FC3 benchmark.

I hope my 570 GTX can handle it.

Same here.
I'd hate to have to dial back some settings to play it.

Not planning for a GPU upgrade until the next generation of cards from AMD\NVIDIA. I usually skip generations.

from what i've read a 570 will not run Ultra settings.
but
even with lowered high/mid settings the game looks good and substantially better than it does on console.

Hope my Gtx 680 and 3770K can handle that game. Anyone experiences on similiar pc?
Can i run all ultra details on Dx11 with MSAA 4x with smooth fps?

My 670PE which i've OC'd to levels slightly higher than a 680 is playable @ 1920x1200 Dx11 Ultra with MSAA 2x and HBAO... but, since my monitor has 1:1 scaling i've opted to drop a resolution to 1680x1050 to increase my fps. At that resolution i see anywhere from 50fps to 75fps during gameplay, but it drops down to around 35fps during some cut scenes.

i.e. 680's will be fine

There's supposed to be a performance patch on Day 1 for the game. Gaming sites are reporting this now.

That patch is already live considering the game is out in every major country aside from the USA. Steam automatically applies it.

Also, Nvidia users should make sure they are using the newest beta drivers as they provide a big performance gain.

Just tested my i7 3770k @ 4.5 GHz & GeForce GTX 680 @ 1.2 GHz. I hope it will be enough for smooth framerate.

BTW.
WTF is going on... we have to overclock our high end PC's to get decent framerates... This is VERY SICK!

Already have the patch. I am in North America and received a code for the game with an SSD I bought. Downloaded the game via ubi europe and the code activated it fine. :D

Steam users will have to wait a few days to play obviously.

The game does look good. I'll be the first to call out a game for performing way worse than it should for the visuals it delivers. FC3 is looking pretty decent and is really demanding. The only setting that seems out of whack is HDAO and its massive performance hit. Reminds me of DOF in Metro 2033.

Ok, here's a little thing for you that I noticed. Seems rather odd.

Changing the water detail setting seems to have quite an impact even when no water is being rendered.

Have a look at these comparison pics. They are in pairs with water detail at lowest and the second is at highest. Note the frame rates. All shots are at Ultra detail, think AA is switched off but the only setting changed below is the water setting.

Water Lowest Detail A FPS 65

Water Highest Detail A FPS 51

Water Lowest Detail B FPS 72

Water Highest Detail B FPS 57

Runs fine at 30+fps on my 560TI if I don't use MSAA, the post processing includes FXAA (this is at 1680x1050). The game is very smooth, no jerkyness, usually between 35-40fps.

GTX 680 is at max. 15% faster than 670 at the same clocks. So there is no huge difference between 35 and 40 FPS.

I have never seen it close to 15% faster in any case at the same clocks. one review had it at 3% average at same clocks.
