tell the devs.. get on the forums. they listen.

they listened well with the complaints against FC2.. if we do the same for FC3, I can't imagine how good FC4 would be (or anything else they make).

i would find telling them anything to be more rewarding if they fixed it in a patch than 5 years later in a sequal...like the complaints of FC2 should have been fixed, no excuses in not remeding in giving more malaria pills or other solution and AI respawns in a simple patch or provide options to remedy such.

Though they fixed FC2 annoyances in FC3, they introduced, imo, far more annoying ones. The HUD for example would be fine to me if it were something like UT3 or whatever 3rd person title, but not the type where i'm supposed to be immersed into a character perpective with interaction of environment and storyline such as this one.
My other annoyances as others have mentioned all made it intolerable for me personally, especially after so much hype so i'm working on another game and try again in a year or so if mods are made

I'm about 5 hours into the game and found out the DX9 and DX11 executable don't share save files. I didn't realize the auto launcher had me running dx9, and now i want to switch to dx11 without losing my progress.

any ideas guys? simply renaming the save files does not work.

I had the same thing, I had some issues with DX11 at first so I started with DX9 and by the time I fixed DX11 and found out they don't share saves I was too far into my DX9 save to be bothered to replay all of it.

DX11 FPS wasn't stellar for me either at 5760x1200 averaging in the 30s but I didn't mind DX9 personally since I don't really care for ambient occulsion as is and don't have the VRAM for MSAA at my resolution. Game still looks stunning in DX9 if you ask me.

Playing multiplayer the game crashes after every match. Happens to other people as well. Kind of a bummer.

I'm several hours in.

The game is beautiful (in a perfect, shiny, JustCause2 sort of way). The level designers did a great job with making an area this large interesting.

Audio design is just great.....everything from foley work to the weapon sounds. I'm glad to see devs actually put some effort into this now.

The game is lots of fun to play, and I love a big open-world FPS single-player campaign.

What I don't like:

Obtrusive hud - I wish you had an option to get all that stuff off the screen.

No hardcore mode. Even on "Warrior" settings, the game treats you far too gently. I want something like "STALKER" difficulty, where a single shot can take you down. No hit indicators. No enemy markers.

I have a feeling once the FC mod community gets into this game we'll see some fixes to the above, and hopefully some more hardcore AI settings.

As it is though, I love it. I think it's one of the best games I've played in years. Hopefully it sells extremely well and sends a message to devs that the big SP FPS campaign isn't dead.

I hope they provide a fix for the FOV zooming in whenever a cutscene starts, or a quick time event starts. It also zooms in when you climb into a car. Really annoying and makes me want to barf.

Just finished the game. I did all of the radio towers, and bases, along with a bunch of the side stuff and it took about 20 hours in all. Over all a good game, though definitely could have used some more polish. There are some bugs in this game, but nothing game breaking.

I only have 2 real gripes with the game. I found the characters to be severely underdeveloped, which really hindered the plot. And there was really a lack of variety overall when it came to the side missions. For the most part it was hunters quests/knife killls/fetch quests/base take over, rinse and repeat.

Decided to give multiplayer a spin and it's most definitely broken. First off there's no way to edit your class or loadout outside of a lobby. You have to rush through setting up your class in the 10 seconds between matches. Secondly half the time a MP match wont even load. You just sit there "waiting for players." Worse it gives you no way to quit out of the match so you have to hit alt-f4 just to get out of the lobby. The couple matches I have successfully managed to join have been glitchy as hell with people lagapoiting all over the place.

For co op you can start a private match, and then tweak loadouts, so I imagine you can do it for mutiplayer also.

You can also go to http://farcryoutpost.ubi.com which lets you setup loadouts and decode also.

Well, I've beaten it now. The gameplay is mostly solid, but the plot and characters mean this is not GotY material. The villains are well done, but if you're going to make villains so horrible I want to shoot them in the kneecaps, set them on fire and toss them off a cliff, you should probably make sure I have the option.

You should also probably not make the protagonist such a dick that I'm considering setting him on fire and jumping off a cliff. It's almost like they sat around thinking of ways to make Jason Brody seem like as awful a human being as possible, and succeeded.

I don't get the Jason Brody hate.

He isn't real, and the best of video game writing ranks with Sy Fy channel garbage if you read books. So is it his silver spoon life, or a belief you'd be more hardass in the situation his character finds himself in?

And, co op can be hit or miss from my experience tonight. First, all my setups were erased (all those console traversing menu nightmares to setup my loadouts...gone). Then during a pretty good game, everyone dropped, and all progress from that nearly two hours is *poof*; gone (wth?). One bad match after another... weekends seem to be prime co op time I guess.

My rig is clearly ancient (running a HD4850), however the gfx are no better than the original FC (imo), and in an effort to make it much larger ,open world and making it accessible to the consoles, I think they have lost some of the 'tightness' and polish of FC.
The world is just a bit too samey.
The story SUCKED....however the voice acting is surprisingly consistent and above average.
JC 2 did a wonderfull take on the open world setting. The diversity of Panau is a far cry from Rook island.
For an open world setting WHY is there no motor assistance for the gliders?
Once the game world opens up for the players, I would have loved to just cruise the island from up top, land as per my whimps and take to the sky again.THAT would be freedom.
The parachute zipline combo transportation from JC 2 (or a similar such mechanism) should have been provided to really appreciate the world.

Probably because he's a pretty good representative of the bro-culture most of us find extremely annoying.

I'm looking past it for now, because I really enjoy playing the game. ;)

I personally find Brody to be, well, annoying. His mannerisms, the way he speaks, etc. . . . He is the worst character in the game, at least from an acting standpoint. The NPCs (particularly Vaas) are far more believable than Brody. Heck, Vaas might be one of the best acted villains in video game history.

"Have I ever told you, the definition of . . . . insanity?"

For me, it's how he treats his 'friends' and 'girlfriend'. How he treats Liza is especially awful.

He rescues her....then proceeds to leave her in a cave after saying like 3 sentences. His girlfriend has been hostage by hyper-violent animals, and he doesn't even bother to show concern that maybe she's been raped and beaten. She tells him she loves him - no response except to just run back into the jungle. Oh, and then he abandons her to go play Jungle Hero. Way to support your loved ones dude. This guy is a douche.

I always wonder if my experience and level of immersion is helped by the fact that my name is Jason...

screw her she is just a needy whiny wench.. family is more important.
and that what he is working on. every second matters.
and revenge is a powerful emotion.
And if you actually paid attention to the entire story you will see until now he has not fit into society or his friends well.
this is the first time he feels he has a purpose and makes a difference.

I read things like this and wonder if people accurately remember the actual vanilla versions of the original game. People said the same thing about Crysis 2 vs Crysis but every time I asked for proof they posted some heavily modded Crysis game which isn't a true comparison. I had never played crysis before so when I finally had a gaming PC in early 2011 I got it to see what all the fuss was about. The vanilla game was such a disappointment... obviously very good for the time but isn't nearly as good as people claimed years down the road.

I think you might have some rose tinted glasses a bit OP. To say the original FC looks better than this even today is hilarious. I can see your gripes about the gameplay but graphics aren't really a comparison. Maybe it's simply a matter of not scaling well so you're seeing the low quality FarCry3 that your graphics card allows. Time for an upgrade.

some decent mod discussions over at the official ubi forums

http://forums.ubi.com/forumdisplay.php/433-Far-Cry-3-PC-Discussion/page4?order=desc

Seems like the biggest request so far is noHud, and Pirates being able to re-capture bases.

WHAT?!?!!!?

Okay, first (because I only got to play a small part at a friend's place) do they mean pirates can actually take over bases again now and they don't want that to happen anymore? Or are they saying they WISH the pirates could take over the bases again.

If the later, why in the HELL would people want those bases taken over again? This is exactly what made FarCry2 a giant pile of garbage. If they introduce that back in it better be an option, or something only on the highest difficulty.
