Because the game's hunting element and immersion makes the game worth the money on it's own. I can easily spend an entire night hunting game. Each animal has it's quirks.

Deer come in packs usually and they aren't aggressive, but they will scare easily and they are hard to chase down. So you usually get one shot or else they scatter and disappear.

Where as a bear is aggressive and will get pissed and confront you if you shoot it.

Alligators are hard to find and usually find you.

Tigers can be aggressive AND quiet. They'll stalk you until you sit still for a few minutes and crawl up on you.

The birds (cassowarys?) also come in packs like deer, but they will gang up and maul you in a pack, (where as the deer scatter)..

etc
etc

hunting with explosives solves all.. :)

Blew a shark up around 4 stories high with a C4 block.. ROFL..

UPlay FTL.

Every time I try to play today, I get a message like 'your account has been logged into elsewhere, exiting game'.

So, if it's not a bug, and someone is trying (or did) hack my account, I go to UPlay and setup a new password. Problem is, UPlay thinks all of my email accounts aren't real, so it won't let me change my password (email is required).

Sigh.

btw, lowering keyboard repeat rate does nothing for the stutter.

heh...I use the flamethrower for the aggressive animals, and its no challenge. I've come across a croc once, and it was just a simple QTE. I will admit one of the hunting challenges was kinda tough...killing 5 leopards with the bow. Couldnt fire the arrows fast enough at first, then I started shooting from the hip like Hawkeye and it was no problem.

it's not that the QTE is tough but by the time you are done saying OH SHIT you are dead..
the Crocs are just evil.

yea, that was tough. I'd hit them from a distance and run.. hit again.. rinse repeat.

Did you play the one to find the golden leapord? It was just one, but it was arrows only and he was really tough. Head shot with a bow multiple times to take him down. Normal arrows only.

I find the GL-94 to be a problem solver for all air, land and amphibian units alike.

Running around with anything else you might get ambushed and in trouble if you miss the 1st shot, not the case with the GL.

don't have the grenade launcher yet but i run around with the shotgun. seems to be the most effective.

so how does the grenade launcher work? does it explode when it hits something or does it need some distance to arm first?
I know trying to use it while i was in the jeep was hard to aim right. can't see how a tiger jumping on your face and this work well together? even if it blows up right away, you'd be hurt in the splash damage.

I ran around with it in the wilderness because it was the first weapon I got that reliably 1shot any opponent, including bears. The incendiary side effect was nice too. I haven't tested it in detail but I found it will explode of it hits remotely hard
surface in non-ricocheting angles at any distance. Any outpost you reach from elevated ground is doomed, steep cliffs were a joke, wiping them out was ridiculously easy. It was only later in the game when I got the best weapons with 3 attachments that the GL was no longer a must have.

For some reason, I cared about the locals. I wish they made defending outposts a part of the game to slow down the progress from one to another.
For example, they could have implemented arming the locals and fortifying a part of the game. I didn't trust Ubisoft, especially after I got burnt with GR:FS and I wasn't able to even start the game until I made a separate steam directory on the C drive but I got my money's worth with FC3. It was still too much consolitis for my taste and certain things and plot holes were annoying but for me, it's still a 8.8/10. If you had asked me 5 hours into the game, it was 9.2/10.

Yeah Far Cry 3 is great but not perfect. The bases need to be more interactive. For example, the game should randomly spawn the occasional outlaw raid on friendly bases. If the outlaws win, they retake the base. AS it stands now the big island in my game is pretty much dead because there are no bases left.

how do you stealthily take out a heavy dude? You can't do a knife takeout. They can take several hits from explosives, so is it even possible? If not, then I guess you'll never be able to get the full 1500 xp for a stealthy outpost capture if one is there?

The last base I took out had 2 heavies. I did not get a stealthy xp bonus.

Heavy takedown is one of the later skills that you unlock. I noticed that the heavy gunners have a weak spot on the back of their head, where their mask doesn't cover. One arrow to that spot and he's dead.

Wow, I have a combined 31 bases and antennas to capture still. The story is over, but I am SO not done.

Also...I found a croc, and yep, that sucker killed me. I couldn't click "c" fast enough. Nice!

I picked one off with the bow and it was indeed very satisfying.

i can't wait for ubi's patches (they were on reddit asking what people thought) AND the mods!

game is fun as is, but I can see a few gameplay mods (whether from ubi or players) really setting this game off.

Biggest thing for me would be having a way to respawn enemy bases.. A simple takeover would suffice. Just script a base that's out of view, maybe across the map, to reset to hostile and post an alert (xyz base just taken over by pirates, go recapture it!)

yes you can. you have to unlock the heavy takedown.

that or you will notice the next time you have a sniper rifle out they have a bald spot that has no armor..
shoot with the sniper rifle right there and boom 1 shot 1 kill.

Using a silenced sniper rifle to capture bases never gets old.

I really do hope ubi releases patches to keep the game going after the main story is over - additional hunting/assassination missions, recapturing bases, etc..as well as some additional DLC's.

what in the HELL is that? Did you photoshop that in? Did ubi really ask us to shoot a monkey wearing a coat? Where is the little bastard?

it's the famous IKEA monkey...

Found it on reddit.. my guess is its shopped in. I'd like to think a curious dev tossed it in as an easter egg in the latest patch after seeing it on reddit himself.. but probably not
