My lair under construction at Greygarden. Reached the top deck tonight and started improvements up there.

Did not know you could get that high! There are some settlements where going 2 or 3 stories high have kicked me out of workshop mode.

Sadly, the "stolen" frames do not respawn. When you force the enemy out of them (by stealing its fusion core or destroying it) and then take the frames away, when enemies respawn in the area, the character that had the frame previously, respawns without it. Only when you kill the enemy together with the frame, they will respawn with a frame again and new PA pieces on them.

Oh... I've never successfully stolen a fusion core before so haven't seen it.

Me either, anyone know what level sneak and armor it takes for this to be effective?
Without any pickpocket, the chance to steal a fusion core is like 14%. Each perk point adds 20%, so it stops being annoying with at least one point (1 in 3 chance to steal). With two you're looking at a roughly 50/50 chance to steal it.

Sneaking... The minimum I've done it with was 2 points. But it was nighttime and I was very careful and slow (the named raider in the north section with a Fatman... Outpost something? Had to lure him out too). But I use stealth boys for that too, makes it a lot easier to sneak next to them, even those with a skull.

You can also destroy the fusion core. It will eject (like the last level science perk), but it will not harm the power frame. Some of the pieces might get damaged though (just repair them afterwards). The wearer will exit the frame, as if it ran out of power. You'll need a high damage weapon and sneak+critical in the first shot should do it in one hit.

Also, in case people don't know. Your companion doesn't even need a fusion core to use power armor. You can tell them to use unpowered frames and they will just do it as if there was a fusion core in it.

I'm a bit annoyed that FO4 is basically a shooter, and having restarted FO2 just for fun, the apparent lack of actual RPG in 4 makes it boring. As I have zero interest in the Sims part of building settlements I'm thinking of buying Wasteland 2 sometime in the near future.

I found that out accidentally. I was expecting the suit to run out of power but never did. Even worse, I didn't know how to get her out of the suit yet so that was annoying because all the armor had been shot off and it looked terrible. The bare exosuit looks terrible...

Also, I've hit level 86 and maxed the sneak perk. Will probably try to shoot the cores out of suits next time I run into someone with a suit.

Go to the Atom Cats garage and test it there if you don't want to wait for a chance encounter. There's also Tess in Gunner's Plaza nearby, she has a unique raider power armor arm on her frame (more unarmed damage).

Go through the various talk options, I think it's on the same one as checking your rep with them. There's an option to ask them to get out. It's not very intuitive.

Yeah I think I ran into that at Hangman's Alley trying to build up on one of the roofs.

I ran into that in Hangman's Alley as well. Given how high you've built at Graygarden, I think it's because it's downtown that it's limited. They don't want you building a ladder on to the roofs.

I've done it a few times, just to see how it works. The tricky thing is that if the target is low in HP, it's easy to kill them before you destroy the fusion core. Some of the raiders running around in power armor are remarkably fragile.

Yep agreed, and in fact making sure that the buildable zones would not let you path into an inaccessible area or otherwise exploit the geometry was probably a big issue for them.

Also All the frames that you shoot cores out of are stolen frames. Most companions get upset at you for taking things off of it (like PA even if you put it there originally) or if you get into it.

I have 3 empty Frames sitting in my Iron Man room because I don't want too many dislikes from companions I haven't gained max affinity with.

I've got one "stolen" frame. It was just sitting out there at a Raider-infested diner. I suspect a bug because it's not a regular spawn location for Power Armor frames, and no one was wearing it, yet it's still marked of "hot goods."

I haven't seen any "dislike" notices from companions when I've updated it with better parts. Maybe they don't like it and just don't say anything. Like most of my extra frames, it's in my base purely for display purposes, so I don't wear it.

Is it weird that I seem to collect power armor sets for display? I could make some money selling the parts I use to keep them up to date, but I'm already swimming in caps. The only time I have companions wear power armor is when I'm collecting a frame I find in the wild.

I saw this video on reddit where this guy clicked a siren button on top of a tower (I think it was north east in the map, not sure though).

The *thing* that happened afterwards was awesome! The game devs are mean mean mean guys. :p

Covenant.
Build-able ceiling is so stupidly low there. I tried climbing the rooftops and it'd kick me out once I got to the top of a relatively low building. Speaking of, I have to totally redo the defenses at that settlement.

I think I know what you mean.
It's a Raider ruin/diner in the mid-west of the map, just outside a town, adjacent to a pool.
I saw that suit stuffed into a corner. It's probably a design/built into game bug and not random.

Also, nope. I have over a dozen suits in a house in Sanctuary. I stopped collecting them after I started running low and space and had every variation of armor in the game already.

I just ran into Covenant - I don't know how I missed it until now. Not sure I did the "right" option/choice, but figured what the heck. I still cant find a X01 left arm. very cool fortresses ( pictures) people. I lack the patients to build something that great.

Finally got Hancock's perk during Covenant missions ( he liked/loved what my choices were- not sure it that is good or bad), on to Brotherhood and get Danse's perk. Then onto the glowing sea - have not been there yet. .

Now level 75. Covenant is now my 26th settlement - which means about 500 settlers lives has been improved by "the lone survivor" and they now have a bed , full bellies, and a roof over their head. You would think with that many people under one leader - you could take out all the feral ghouls, supermutants, and raiders in the Commonwealth and tell the Institute and the Brotherhood to get lost as well. Also, just noticed I have another settlement that got swarmed with new immigrants (total of 30 settlers now) and I don't have enough beds for all them. SO much for a maximum of 22. This is the second settlement that has had that happen - weird.

Just had a Patriot ( kidnapping) mission complete/finished with XP given in spite of me never turning it in to Preston. I wonder if that means the next settlement I visit I will have a NPC come over and "give" me another mission = noooooo!!

Nope I built a full lot house next to the main house in sanctuary and have them lining the walls like Iron Man. That's without 3 suits I have around my personal metal shack. 2 Companion specific suits I have at the bottom floor of the house (since companions can follow you up on their own, but refuse to go up stairs if you ask them to), my personal suit of Level VII X-01 along with a general companion armor, and two pieces of Glowing Sea specific PA that I have stationed at Summerville for me and my companion.

Just another aside...

...I can't get enough of the Pulowski protection chambers. :D I wish there were more hidden goodies like FO3 had, but I just love that lady's cheerful voice getting the word wrong every time. ;)

"New-cew-lar pro-teckshun onn aa budget!"

I want one in my town. :D

The game would be amazing if it had an isometric view.

X01 location...

I think you can get an almost full suit by the National Guard Base. It's just north of Boston near something-Crossing settlement. I'm still using that suit, unless I remembered wrong.

Missing about 5 bobbleheads... Just looked them up using a walkthrough. Dang, the stat ones are located in some weird places, and I've been to all those places before and missed them.

I've done two complete playthroughs (complete in the sense of getting to level 60-ish and finishing off the Institute), and have yet to visit Covenant. I had the location in one game, presumably from some overheard chatter or something, but I just never went there.

I've somehow completed Minuteman quests without speaking to Preston even though I was deliberately avoiding Preston. I think maybe that's on a timer, because they both completed in rapid succession.

It's quite possible to get them from other sources. Doing anything around the Castle is dangerous because you'll get Minuteman quests just by being there. The Minuteman radio station is always blaring there.
