the only people that like the south are the people that live in the south and thats because they have never been able to actually get OUT of the south
I grew up in CA and have been all over the country. The Southeast was among the best places to live.
In fact, in my experience the only people who bleat bullsh!t like yours are people who have never spent any time in the South and speak from a position of ignorance.
I have mixed feelings on this, having lived in both places. There are good things and bad things about living in both. But I've lived here long enough to get an idea of what the people in each region are generally like. And the main difference is really how we identify ourselves.
For years and years, the South has been screaming, "We are the South! Recognize us as a distinct culture in America!" And Northerners' response has always been, "Who?" It's not that we never knew these people were there, it's just that we never cared about their attempts to differentiate themselves. A Northerner
never identifies himself as a Northerner, but a Southerner is quick to do so. That is the big difference. And now this election is finally bringing these differences to light, prompting articles like this one linked by the OP. Northerners are just now starting to identify themselves as Northerners.
