Leadtek 6600gt

Did detect setting then forced 1280x1024 by editing the .cfg file

This isnt great FPS obviously, the resolution kills it, but hey, I dont like making my LCD do things it doesnt like doing :)

1280x1024, everything set to maximum except particle bouncing, model decals, vol lighting detail set to medium, everything enabled except soft shadows and the dx8 shaders etc, 2xAA, 8xAF and all the sound options set to ON.
venice 3200+ @ 2.56ghz, evga 7800 GT 460/1.17 rev.2 BIOS and 4x512mb ocz platinum rev.2 pc3200 1:1 2.5-3-3-5 2T.

FEAR without AA looks terrible and id rather play at my LCD's native resolution. i find these settings PLAYABLE.

the single player demo, i can run maxed out at 1280x1024 very smooth, but multiplayer is much more sluggish.

whys my MAX FPS so low compared to others?

edit: stupid me, i had vsync on, thats why my max fps was so low.

same settings, vsync off, new results:
min - 30fps
avg - 49
max 91

0 - below 25fps
26 - 25-40fps
74 - above 40fps

Op's settings:

34 FPS min
70 FPS avg
172 FPS max

below 25 fps - 0%
25-40 fps - 15%
above 40 fps - 85%

Max Settings:

34 FPS min
70 FPS avg
170 FPS max

below 25 fps - 0%
25-40 fps - 17%
above 40 fps - 83%

System is an Ultra-D, 3000+ Venice @ 2.5 (stock cooling for now),
2 x 512 OCZ Value Ram ( in dual channel), X800 GTO2 @ 535/590 with a Zalman
VF700-Cu cooler and a Seasonic 600.

Game looked good other than the occasional lag/hiccup.

I'm puzzled why i'm getting higher marks than some others with faster systems, seems weird.
Any ideas?

i know.. thats why i said "everything enabled EXCEPT softshadows and the dx8 shaders etc (etc meaning anything that increases performance to sacrifice image quality).

you have any AA/AF enabled?
what resolution are you running?
what sound options do you have on? (EAX , Advance HD etc)

i'm running at 1280x1024 with 2xAA and 8xAF. AA takes a pretty big performance hit with any enabled.

I just put together my first AMD rig and so far I'm very impressed :) , For comparison sake I ran the same test on my previous PC vs. New setup and got the following results:

FEAR retail with v1.1 patch / Both Computer and Graphics set on "High" which means Max texture quality / No AA / 4X AF / 1024x768 etc.

Previous PC: P4 2.8C @ 3.3ghz / Asus P4C800-E Deluxe / 1GB Corsair PC3200 XMS / PNY 6800GT @ stock speed / Audigy 2 : results

New PC: AMD X2 4800+ @ stock speed / EVGA 7800GTX KO Edition @ stock speed(getting another card for SLI soon), more detailed specs in sig below: results

FSAA - 4x
Texture Filtering - Anisotropic - 16x
1024 x 768
HW Mixing - off
EAX 2.0 - off

Does the scoring sound right or is it something else?

Your system has higher max numbers but has many frames between 25-40.
If you haven't unlocked your card, I guess it benches ok.

Run at OP original settings:

FPS min 38
FPS avg 75
FPS max 196

below 25 fps - 0%
between 25-40 fps - 2%
above 40 fps - 98%

I guess being P4/cpu limited and AGP/vid limited isn't as bad as some claim it to be. ;)

depends what it set your settings to.

also AGP doesnt really have a performance decrease (ie AGP x850XT PE vs PCI-E x850XT PE). The x850XT PE is still a good card and its still currently ATI's second best card thats AVAILABLE.

btw, with the full release, my results were slightly better. with the demo, i ran it with half the settings set to medium and the full release i had everything set to maximum and i got the same results if not better. but overall, the full game is more demanding than the demo just because theres more action and more going on.

OK, 'Run at OP original settings' means:

OP quote: monster64 -

"In the new FEAR multiplayer demo, there is a timedemo and when you run it it tell you your min, avg, and max fps. Please run this test at 1024x768 x2 aa/x 4 af, maximum physics and sound, volumetric lights and soft shadows off, and report your scores."

As you can see...it runs like caca on my pc. I use a Athlon 2500+, 1gb ram, 9800np.

Running the game at 800x600 res makes the game fairly playable...sorta.
