We received our five 4550s earlier today. I did not spend any time opening the boxes and examining the systems, but I was shocked at the small size of the shipping boxes for the LCDs. It is barely larger than the LCD itself. I guess Dell has to makeup costs any way they can. As long as they are handing these out as free upgrades I am not complaining.;) I did notice the monitor cable is not removeable from the monitor, but we can live with that too. Good Deal

Hey now, just received my 4550. Well, first impression is that the sucker is very quiet.:)

Regarding the video, I am not too impressed with the GeF4 MX420 video card. :disgust:

In addition, the integrated NIC is slower than my 3Com nic card.

Overall, looks like a nice box but I wished it had a "reset" button.

Finally, yes it was shipped by the post office.

well I guess if you still want one you could attempt to buy one of these: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2062165471 at $9.99 lol... there's like 300 auctions on eBay and I'm thinking the end prices are starting to suck really bad(for the seller).

some soon ending ones with horrible prices:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2061635608

yay mine shipped, but by USPS

It says that 3 packages shipped even though I only ordered the desktop and the flat panel The only thing I changed from the normal configs were the HK speakers and GeForce 4.

That happens all the time, ignore the package count. They're often inaccurate.

w00t!! just received the sweetest little lcd ever made :)!!!!! oh yeah, it came with a pretty decent midtower too :D!!!!! i am pretty impressed with Dell at this point. this stufff made it here in no time at all. i actually ordered the desktop for my wife's friend at work and she didn't need a monitor, keyboard, or mouse. so i decided to take the lcd along with the package instead of the xtra money. i already had a sweet little pair of z340's for the family puter i got for $4, thanx to one of you hot hounds, and just completed an all black desktop set up with the little shabby black mouse and keyboard that came with the desktop, the z340's (with a wicked blue led), and the schweetest little black lcd as a center piece! heck, i am kinda of envious of the family room setup now.

Bigups to J.O.D. for finding this HOTTIE!!

I just got my 4550, and SWEET! is the correct thing to say. I mainly bought it for the wife and and just finalizing redoing all internet shortcuts now on it. I am very impressed with it. I ordered mine over the phone as opposed to over the net. They had a few other specials going over the phone. I also bought it through the home section, was only a $50 rebate, but a free 48x cd-rw (in addition to the 48x cd-rom) so the $50 less was made up in the cd-rw being added. I also went for the GF4 as well as some extra ram. Very happy with it and with the LCD, oh and i like the speakers too!

oh, shipped via UPS and only took 3 days to get here. I had to tell the UPS driver the price and give him anandtech's website, he will be watching here for the next Dell special!

Yeah got mine today too. It is fast and very very silent. Also It has at least 2 USB 2.0 ports in the back and possibly the front ones are also USB 2.0 very sweet.

Yo

P.s.: Wade - simply use windows xp's file and settings transfer wizard (much more efficient than manual copying and readjusting).

Shipping slip!!! Required for MIR. Where is it? I could not find any piece of papar that looks similar to an invoice or shipping slip, and I believe the rebate form says you need to submit that along with the rebate coupon. Hmmm... Anyone found yours in the boxes?

It should be taped to the outside of one of the packages. It'll read "Packing Slip Enclosed".

Not on either of boxes of my order. Mine only has address label and a tag which has track code or something on it.

Never mind, found it on the bottom of the box!

Wei2Cool Call Dell have them fax you a copy, or better yet send you an original. There is supposed to be a packing slip!

256 MB sticks of PC2700 RAM are going for around $75 shipped from crucial or newegg. 512MB sticks are more than 2x256 (around $180) at the same locations.

FYi - We have been ordering DDR for our 4400s and now 4550s from this place . Their prices for genuine Samsung 512MB PC2700 DDR @$125 shipped for the 4550 is a good deal.

Thanks for the link to the Memory... I might have to try that!

I keep finding little things that impress me. Like the 6 USB 2.0 ports. Also the way they had them done on the front panel as well as the Audio... accesible, yet hidden!
Another item was the Monitor stand... at first when I adjusted the angle it got kind of tipsy, which I didn't like... then I acctually read the sticker in plain view on the base. Pointing to the extra extension on the back of the Monitor base to make it more stable.

Can't ask for more!

Karsten or anyone else who has received their 15" LCD:

Would you mind providing the shipping weight of the entire LCD box (might be in your shipping tracking info) and dimensions of the LCD cardboard box?

Thanks!
