Would you mind providing the shipping weight of the entire LCD box (might be in your shipping tracking info) and dimensions of the LCD cardboard box?

Thanks!

Anyone order the 48x CDRW and put Nero on it yet? I plan to but am curious if Nero supports since I did not recognize the brand (think HL is at the beginning in the description).

My system came with a 48x burner as well. According to device manager, my cd-rw is a SamSung model SW-240B. I just installed Nero and it works well.

Does anybody know what the warranty on the flat panel is? Is it the same as for the computer? If I bought w/ only 1 year warranty, is that the warranty for the monitor too, or is it cover under a different clause? Couldn't find in the web site, but some monitors have longer warranties, so I was wondering...

On the other hand, I saw a slip inside the docs saying the processor has a 3-year warranty by Intel.

BTW, I really liked the monitor. I read comments the quality was not that high, but, except for the size, I cannot tell the difference between the DELL and my office's Viewsonic., which costs 4 times more. For those worried about ghosting, I couldn't detect any. Spent the night playing demos of games I couldn't even try in my old computer :) The monitor is for sale in the Memphis area, if anyone is interested (3 hours of use, I had to open the box, I couldn't resist :) ).

Just pulled out the GeForce 4 MX 420 video card and replaced it with a GeF 3 TI200. Makes a world of difference.

One 128mb module installed.

I don't think DDR (especially PC2700) is even made in 64Meg modules?

Dude, I just got my Dell. I upgraded from my overclocked Celly 300a (500MHz) and it is fast! I did put an extra 256MB of RAM in it, bought it at the computer show last weekend. This was a great deal and I would like to thank everyone who has contributed to this thread!

Holy $#@! that's quite an upgrade in both CPU, RAM and probably hard drive and video card as well.

Congrats, I think you'll love how fast, quiet and easy to upgrade this system is.

is this ram any good?
pc 2700 kingston

I am currently looking around for pc2700 ram. I have a question.
Why should I get ram with a heat spreader? What are the benefits
of the heat spreader? Will ram without the heat spreader function
flawlessly?

Riz, as long as you're not doing any oc'ing you should be fine with std. memory w/o heat spreader.

You might want to check the FS forum. I just picked up an excellent 512mb SamSumg PC2700 stick for $110.00 shipped.

To the people (like myself) who have their orders stuck in the "Production" phase (pre-kitting, etc.), I just read in the DellTalk forums that certain parts are delayed - so if you configured your system with one of these parts and your system hasn't been built yet, it's because of this delay. I configured my system with a 16x DVD-ROM (one of the delayed parts) which explains why my system hasn't even entered the kitting stage yet.

Here is the post from a DellTalk moderator:

Current as of 10/15//02

I'm posting the component leads hoping this will help some of you that have questions about your individual orders. These are for order placed today and are estimates and subject to change.

Dimension 2300 base systems are on a 10 business day leadtime
Dimension 8250 base systems are on a 10 business day leadtime

All other Dimension base systems are on a 3 business day leadtime

313-0438, 0984, 2559, 461-1632, 5651, 5697, 5951, 5952, 6106, 6163 16X DVD ROM are on an 8 business day lead (as of 10/07/02)
430- 0395 Truemobile 1180 MiniPCI wireless card and 430-0394 Truemobile 1184 Wireless broadband router are on an 8 business day lead (as of 10/07/02)
313-0447, 1363, 0472, 1364, 461-3858, 5047, 5048, 5700, 5932, 5953, 7298, 5444, 6525, 7623 DVD+RW is on an 8 business day lead (as of 10/14/02)
311-1769 128MB RDRAM is on a 16 business day lead (as of 10/09/02)
313-1128, 1362, 461-4997, 5041, 7168 40x CDRW is on 15 business day lead (as of 10/10/02)
All lead times listed above are business day lead times which do not include Saturdays, Sundays or holidays. They project the number of days or additional days in which a order would take if that system were ordered today. An order placed today would take the number of business days projected above plus one day.

BLA is Backlog affected, which includes all orders previously placed that haven't shipped which include the compenent or base system that is on an extended lead. The expected ship date is then calculated from the date that the item went on the extended lead.

The Expected ship date is an estimate and is subject to change.

If BLA is not listed after the base system or component, calculating the expected ship date will be done from one day after the order date.

Ordered 10/9, received 10/16. Flat panel and PC are both great! Selling off the flat panel though, and going for the Linksys kvm switch to make use of my existing 19" samsung 950P. Initially PC didnt boot and made some beeping sound, tried second time, it booted fine. Installed Warcraft III on it and it was great even though i had the 32mb vid card and 256 MB Ram. Integrated sound card sucked a bit but hey, SB live is only 30 now, so might upgrade pretty soon. PC was extremely quiet, but CDROM had some mechanical sound when opening and closing, but when reading it was quiet. Overall, I give it an A+! And now for the rebate....

Mine hasn't shipped yet. After it ships does Dell provide the zz number?

If not, then how/where does one find their zz number?
