well folks, deal's over. Dell restructured their pricing last night and now this computer that was $580-623 is back up to $857 AR/AC
This sucks I was waiting to see what deals they would change today. I took a gamble that they wouldn't put the prices back up but they did. :(

HOT!!!
Dell small business just released a 10% off TOTAL ORDER coupon.
some people report getting 15%!
Its in the email provided you signed up.
EDIT: Just played with a 8300 configuration and got down to $623!!!

Dimension 8300
P4 2.6C 800fsb w/HT
256mb 400mhz dual channel DDR
Radeon 9800
Free Office XP

$959
-$100 IR
-10% (Email coupon) (possibly CHEAPER with a 15% coupon!)
-$150 MIR
___________
~$623 + tax and free shipping (Possibly $580!!! with 15% coupon) :Q
xtra 3% off from fatcash (google fatcash)

Select all of the base stuff (256mb RAM, 30gig HD, no speakers, etc) and upgrade the video to 9800 and the Office to PROMOTIONAL UPGRADE! Microsoft® Office Small Business w/EducateU Special Offer.

At checkout enter the coupon code you recieved.

BTW from what I can see the major differences between the 4600 and the 8300 specwise is the 8300 uses a 875P instead of a 865PE, 4 PCI slots rather then 3, and one more 3.5" external bay.

Also Inspiron 1100 Laptop
Celeron 2.0 ghz
128mb DDR
20 gig HD
FREE extra battery

$799
-10% (Email coupon)
-$100 MIR
___________
~$621 +tax and free shipping ($579 with 15% coupon!)
3% off from fatcash (google fatcash)

Again select the base stuff + FREE battery

Also Poweredge 600SC server for $305
Celeron 1.8ghz/no OS

all items to base (Cheapest)

$499
-$50 IR

-$100 MIR
___________
~$305 +tax and free shipping AR/AC
3% off from fatcash

I'd like to note that Dell has a habit of adding or chaning deals by the end of the week, the coupon lasts for a little while so it may be prudent to wait a few days and see. or it may not. Many times they also raise base prices on a product to add a add on freebie

well... the 2.8C is worth about $70 more then the 2.6C but I think I'd rather have the extra PCI slot. I don't know the difference between a 865PE and 865P chipset though. I'm not changing my 4600 order from before. Both deals are pretty equally great to me. I only need a PCI slot for my Audigy anyways.

well ya, but i just shelled out $700 on a system i dont really need, and this one adds nothing special to the one i just got. Different chipset and 1 more pci slot make up for the .2 drop i guess... :)

IMO this 10% coupon is freakin hot b/c it is stackable...

yea thats the hot deal effect burnin your wallet ;)

what do you mean stackable? Stackable with what? It won't stack with any % coupons, already tried. I'm sure a 40 off 350 would stack though.

hmm good deals from Dell SB coming out this week.

I am thinking about cancelling my 4600 order and getting this 8300 order now (will cost me ~$40 more) everything else being the same.

But Dell SB deals change on Wed night/Thurs morning so i am thinking about holding on till then and cancelling my 4600 order right now...what do you guys say ? What are the chances of them having a better deal later down the week ?

now what would really suck is that i cancel my 4600 order, and wait till Thursday and the deals are not as good and then i cry ..... hmm...
my 4600 is still in pre-production as of right now....hopefully it stays there till Thursday so that i can decide on which one to get....

most likely you got the free 3-5 day shipping...so even IF they shipped on thursday, you could always refuse the package and cancel 3-5 days after ship

quick question:

just got a 15% coupon in the mail and i'm looking to buy a 600m; there's a promo for double memory or $150 rebate on dell's sb site. However, it let's me add both double the memory and still show's the rebate in the detailed view. Seems to me dell probably would not honor the rebate, but anyone have experiences with something like this? the rebate is definitely worth more than the ram....

...also, anyone with comments on inspiron 1100 vs 600m? i know they are different machines for different uses, but just on general quality, build, likes/dislikes would be greatly appreciated.

thanks!

The 8300 runs the 875P chipset, not the 865. The 875 is a faster chipset, and will on average show a 3-5% performance gain over the 865PE found in the Dimension 4600s. The main difference with the 875P is that the memory controller is far more optimized than the one on the 865PE, so you'll see most benefits in memory-intensive applications.

Edit: Also, forgot to mention, the 8300 has a much nicer case. I'd cancel my 4600 order and get an 8300 if my 4600 hadn't have already shipped...now I might have to eBay it off or something. Blah.

The difference between this and the 4600 doesn't dazzle me. I'm happy with my 4600 order. Between the 2.8C value (and no Dell OC options) and less out of pocket, I guess they balance out.

parikh26 I wouldn't risk the double memory rebate coupon. Your chance of them honoring both is slim to none. Are you sure you didnt se;lect the memory (paid) and not the free promo one? Dell will list the memory selection you made and the rebate coupon on the invoice. If everything doesn't jive you risk losing $150 for $50 worth of crappy RAM.

I also prefer the 4600 over the 8300.

How is the 8300 case better than the 4600?

Dakels, I'm having trouble getting that original $959 price you got before the coupons. No matter what I try the lowest I could get it is $1097.00 (The only thing I didn't remove was the floppy drive which is only $20, but the difference in our prices even with the floppy removed would be $118.) What am I doing wrong?

Thanks!

I think the 8300 uses there larger case which also uses thermally controlled fans. It is supposed to be quieter than there small micro case that uses standard fans. Also I think the 8300 has room for an additional hd mount. I personally think this deal is much better than the previous one since, you actually get this cheaper. You just have to wait for the rebate.

Does anyone own a 4550 AND 8250 (or 8300)?

Can you comment on the noise?

I love how whisper silent my wife's 4500 is.

UPS tracking says it's in town as of 5:30 this morning. Hopefully, that means delivery today :)

You have to sign up on Dell's site.
You cannot sign up now and still get the current coupon. If you haven't signed up before then you will have to get a coupon from someone. These email % coupons are one time use only and cannot be shared. read my other Dimension 4600 thread for more info.
