I love how whisper silent my wife's 4500 is.

We have a 4550 and an 8250. The 4550 is so quiet it's impossible to tell if it's running. The 8250 is close, but it has a Radeon 9700tx which I think is what makes a slightly audible noise.

Dead Parrot Sketch,

Thanks.

Unfortunately the bad news for me is my next system I want a decent video card which is going to make some noise, not a lot but a little.

Think I'll still wait it out as long as I can until the next MOLTEN LAVA HOT deal comes along.

If Dell adds one more thing to this deal, like a free cdrw or so, this would be very hot. Or if a person really wanted Office XP it already is.

Also the Radeon 9800 that is $110 extra is a great deal, impossible to get similar performance for less than $250 anywhere I've been able to find.

For $560 plus tax this Dell deal gets you..

a 2.6c 800fsb, easily worth $200
a Radeon 9800, easily worth $200
a Canterwood motherboard, maybe $100
Office XP SBE, maybe $100 ?
Windows Home, maybe $50 ?

plus the rest of the computer and a decent warranty.

I just wish I needed one. :moon:

Dead Parrot Sketch - That's my thinking also. If Dell were to add something like a FREE DVD Burner or FREE 15" LCD I'd jump on this.

This deal is smokin! I may have to cancel my previous order for my 4600 and get the 8300.

So far I've got the standard base 8300 system setup with floppy(got to have it ),ATI 9800 ,HK395 speakers, 18.1" LCD,dvd-rom drive for $1364.08 shipped - $150.00 rebate for a net of $1214.08

That seems smokin to me for a high end P4 system (alright, will add more ram) with a 9800 card and 18.1 LCD for around 1200 bucks!

How did you get "subtract $40" for the speakers...mine only takes off $20.

This deal is looking really nice. But my 4600 just shipped out today. Mebbe I'll refuse the order (but then I feel really bad), or I'll throw it up on eBay.

If you follow my directions to the letter, you should see an $859 Final price after $100 instant rebate and before the 10-15% off coupon and $150 MIR which bring it down to $580-623 (Depends on 15% or 10%)

The speakers need to be donwgraded to NO SPEAKERS, not the 420 downgrade ot the altec lansings.

Altec Lansing® ADA215 Speakers [subtract $20]
Harman Kardon® HK-395 Speakers with Subwoofer  Multimedia Performance
  Altec Lansing® ADA745 4.1 Surround Sound Speakers w/ Subwoofer [add $60 or $2/month1]
Altec Lansing THX Certified ADA995 Surround Sound 5.1 Speaker System [add $190 or $6/month1]
  No Speaker Option [subtract $40]

I got the 15% coupon in hand and I just bought the 2.8ghz 4600 deal the other day. I'm wondering what you guys think about the $100 upgrade from the 2.6ghz to 2.8ghz? Is it worth it or not? How significant is the difference?

Isn't it OEM (meaning the license is tied to that Dell PC) and eBay actively cancels many MS auctions (including legit retail boxes) under the auspices of VeRo? They won't give you back your listing fee either.

WTF, I just signed up for the coupons like a week or 2 ago. I think I was already getting them at one of my addy's, but i don't ever remember signing up for them, so i signed up under a differant account, and neither one got anything from dell.

Thanks, that's good to know.

What if you sell Office XP with hardware, is it still a no-no?

teklord & Guyp2k:

You're not supposed to be askin for codes here. I would recommend going to the FS/FT forum at the chubby-wallet place. There's lots of people sharing/selling/trading coupons there.

From what I have read, there are strict requirements in selling OEM software with hardware.

Call Dell sales and tell them that you are interested in a purchase and are on the mailing list but didnt recieve a coupon.

I wouldn't pay $50 extra for it let alone $100. Even retail the difference is only about $70-80. The mhz difference doesn't equate to squat. These C processors also overclock like crazy. Most people who buy the C's from a build it yourselfer get the 2.4's and OC them to 3.0-3.3+ghz. Don't worry about the minor differences between these 2 deals between the 4600 and the 8300. The difference is not a deal breaker so to speak.

It took them about three months to start sending me coupons after I signed up. Worth the wait though, one of my accounts got the 10% coupon today, and the other one got 15%. I have one signed up for Dell home coupons too, but so far nothing has come in.

How is the 8300 case better than the 4600?
I have been looking at the new cases for the 4600 and the 8300. It appears that when Dell went from the 4550 to the 4600 they started using the same size case as the 2350. Before the new series came out the case for the 4550 and the 8250 were the same mid size style case with the 2350 being smaller. Now the 2350 and the 4600 share the same smaller case and the 8300 still has the mid size style case.

Can anyone confirm this observation?

BTW, nice deal on the 8300.

I've heard of the 2.4 beging OCed, but I thought Dell doesnt give you the capability to OC anything? Also, I guess I'll stick with the 2.6 and save $100. I think I can at least break-even on the 4600, which is why I'm considering this deal (for the extra PCI slot, better motherboard, and better case). What do you all think?

Oh damn I hope that you're wrong because I really liked the 4550 case.

Quite roomy, easy to work with, upgrading RAM, adding PCI cards or another drive was quick and easy.

Please be wrong!
