I didn't find the castle hard at all on normal and with no healer. I only died once in the entire mission. I found Morrigan to be useful but she's a heartless bitch so I ditched her for Wynn shortly after that mission.

she changes after you do her personal quest.

you can change the personality of alistar and lilian too after doing their personal quest. don't know about the others

I tried to do her personal quest and Flemith kicked my ass. I'm all level 14/13's. Going to wait a couple more levels and try it again.

in my party, i was a mage for dps/backup healer, with lilian doing dps, sten the tank , and wynne as the main healer.

first time, she wiped the floor as i wasn't expecting it. the second time, i was pausing the game quite often, until i used up all the health and mana potions. with lilian unconcious, and managed to win.

Who is lilian? Is that Leliana (the rogue)?

Very similar to how I handled her. This game, just like BG, has fights that can go completely opposite directions based on random events (misses, resists, etc.). I had Alistar as my tank instread of Sten, and Shale doing DPS instead of Li.. whoever the bard is. I think the first try or two she smoked me. Once I spread the party out (kept myself separate from Wynne to avoid fireballs) and just paused between nearly every "round" it was fairly straightforward. Good fight, though. One of the better in the game so far.

This has been pissing me off for a while now.

Twice now i have loaded up a saved game only to find my main character has missing equipment. It literally just fucking vanished, and is now gone from every single saved game.
What the hell? Tried searching official and steam forums, havent found a topic yet.

Anyone else experience this?
It's a DLC glitch. Make sure you're logged on or have online turned off.

oops, i meant leliana.

Ok cool I guess she is viable for DPS then. speaking of DPS I found my mage level-8 PC is responsible for 44% of total damage. This would be unheard of in a D&D game until much later . or it could mean I'm just not using the other characters effectively :D

anyone who has used morrigan extensively: would she be a problem in a good-aligned party? morrigan is a downer but the opposing views can be interesting. but if I tick her of too much simply by being a goody-two-shoes she might leave the party or worse? I'm trying to decide between her and wynne. my main is crowd control/damage oriented so I'm 50/50 on this.

No matter what you do, you can butter up the other party members with gifts. Morrigan likes trinkets -- the camp store has a necklace you can buy her, for example.

Also, take her with you to the tower.

Not a problem at all. I use her, Wynn and Alistar (though he's about to get dropped because Shale is just ridiculous) and despite losing 1-3 points from time to time she never drops below 96. It may be different if you pick someone else as your love interest, but I think Morrigan is more of a middle ground type character than evil.

I think I would really enjoy this game, but I still have to finish The Witcher, Oblivion and Fallout 3 before picking this up.

i swapped her out for a healer instead since i'm a mage. her attitude towards you change for the better if you finish her personal quest. but she and sten will not like some of the dialog choices you make if you're good. i'll probably go back and use her when i replay as a rogue (and to get her cutscenes)

Happened to me and took me a good 20 minutes before I realized it (and had already written over my quick save). Just had to exit and come back in/re-login. Of course I had to load an older auto-save when my character was still using that equipment to get it back.

Well, I take back what I said about the game being mage unfriendly. It's not, I just happened to decide to go down the lightning tree, which has proven ... less then ideal.

By comparision, the sleep and fire trees have been very kind to me. Sleep/horror/waking nightmare have been very useful, and fireball has been a stanby. Doubtless, this is partly cause I'm wussing out and playing on easy - the lightning tree as well, chain lightning seems to be balanced for it's lack of friendly fire.

It is still *hard*. I made the mistake of blowing the horn at the top of the mountain on the ashes quest line. Turns out the only ashes I found were my own. I'm thus, very hesitant about Morganana's personal quest.

Cold and Telekinesis are both super strong and not *too* hard to figure out. Some enemy types resist cold damage, but you can still immobilize them with Winter's Grasp/Cone of Cold. Btw, I believe there's a Blizzard/Tempest combo since you already have fire.

Not coincidentally, Morrigan has early points in these lines.
