I just had the hardest battle yet in the game. When saving Aron I decided to just fight instead of give in...I had to pause like every 2 seconds and it took about 10 minutes to beat her. wow

A few questions:
a) Does anyone find it totally weird that the game has a person in it requesting you to download content ? I thought bioware claimed that the two were totally independent ?

b) bioware (well ea) sent email indicating anyone who purchasd the game prior to Nov 30th would get a free spear called the edge; how do you download this item (it does not show up as a download-able item)

c) In a bit i'm going to reinstall my pc (upgrade from windows xp to windows 7). How do I redownload the free dlc's (such as stone prisoner et all) ? This whole thing with ea and dlc has me a bit concern. I can't really tell how to re-download an item... and how long I will be able to do so...

d) How do you tell how far into the game you are (just curious - as others post comments like 43% done and 72% map - i figured there were stats somewhere). I just reached the point in the game where i discovered (a) and things were going pretty well until that point...

The DLC's are tied to your account. So when you log in, they should just download again.

You tell how far you are in the game by opening you character sheet, then hitting the 'heroic achievements' button on the bottom of the right panel.

I agree completely with everything you said. The same things bummed me out.

I agree as well.
I didn't even end up deploying all my groups of Soldiers because I was saving them for a huge "epic" battle that never came. I killed one of the sub generals without even deploying any Soldiers at all.

Still a great game though.

Couple of more questions:
Any one know how to download the spear?

Are crystals useful for anthing other than shale ?

I just finished my first playthrough - 81 hours. I still don't see where I can find how much I explored, but I completed 37 of the achievements. I didn't do too many sidequests unless they were right there for me to complete. My main character was I believe level 21 when it all ended.

I thought the final mission was definitely too short, the brevity didn't do the archdemon justice. Especially considering how long some of the other treaty missions were (Redcliffe leading into the Urn of Sacred Ashes). And the actual final battle was rather easy too, none of my characters were ever in serious danger of dying. I had Alistair, me (Rogue ranged), Morrigan and Wynne... Further, I only called on my allies (the Dalish) once and never used the others. Oh well.

Overall, a great game.

It's not so much the brevity, but that the scaling seems wrong. Far too many of the enemies in the finale have unusually low hp - a group of bandits requires planning, while a group of darkspawn die with a single fireball.

Bleh; my first crash after about 4 hours of play. Does this game crash a lot ? I guess I need to hit quick save more often :(

I noticed a few transitional crashes [transitioning from one area to another area] early in the game - but none recently. Quick saving often is a good idea anyway - mother nature decided to cause a 5 minute power outage. Luckily the game had auto-saved a few minutes prior - so I didn't lose much of the progress.

I have encountered an issue with horrendous slowdowns whenever my backpack nears it's capacity [I'm up to 100 item storage] - typically happens whenever I'm near the end of a large area and about to transition into another area - I have to save, shutdown, then restart the game [Steam wanted update the client in one instance - hopefully Steam isn't the cause]

Another oddity I've noticed is the clock time on the taskbar will be the same time I started the game for a split second, then it will change to the current time.

Other than those few annoyances - easily one of the best rpg's in awhile. :)

suggestion - when you get to the whore house - try the "surprise me" option - very twisted outcome. :D

The 'surprise me' option rules!

In 81 hours, I had 3 or 4 crashes. None for the first 20 or so hours, then a rash of them in the following 20 hours, and none since (an additional 40+ hours). Only once did I lose any substantial amount of time and had to go back...etc. I quicksave often so...

I probably had 25 crashes in Fallout 3 before reaching the 80 hour mark...

Yea I'm about 20% into the game; and have not had another crash. My only real complaints so far are with combat (sort of prefer the dragonagejourney approach which is more strategist; though not really scalable to some of the larger dragon age fights) and how search was dumb'ed down (or the less offensive version; implemented). Other than that I think the game is pretty good; but I should reserve comment until I finished which will probably take a couple of more weeks.

Awww...I made the wrong frikken choices to unlock blood mage. :( Ah well - maybe on the next run through when I play an evil band of characters who just want to pillage and plunder rather than being helpful and polite [most of the time] - mwahahahah.

That was my same thought process and I managed to talk myself out of unlocking blood mage the second time as well (choosing different responses than my first play through). oops!

It's not so much the brevity, but that the scaling seems wrong. Far too many of the enemies in the finale have unusually low hp - a group of bandits requires planning, while a group of darkspawn die with a single fireball.
In the endgame,
every white-level darkspawn is set to die with one hit. Except Shrieks, maybe.

I'm sure there will be a hardcore finale mod for those who want to change this.

Same thing happened to me.
I didn't use ANY of my troops for either general (I was saving them for the epic final battle). Then once I got to the dragon I figured that this was it, and let one of the armies loose (maybe redcliff?) and that fight ended up being stupidly easy. Definitely anticlimactic.

Just a quick question - do the companions you don't use level up alongside you? For instance, say I normally travel with a party of Morrigan, Leliana, and Alistair. While doing Morrigan's quest, I had to switch the setup to Alistair, Sten, myself, and Wynne. This was the first time I had ever used Sten since picking him up, and yet he seemed to hold his own pretty well. Do the unused characters level up based on like, average level or something?

Yes, even if you dont have them with you they level up automatically to stay within a level of your main character. (ive never had any more than one level behind me even if i never used the companion)

42 hours, 20%. One crash because of alt-tab. I'm taking my time and having fun with this one. I think I want to have Bioware's babies. They have never let me down in the slightest.

Hmmm, I alt-tab out semi-frequently and have never had it crash while doing so. Game seems very stable in that regard, I'll consider myself lucky I guess... so far.

I'm 60 hours into the game and it hasn't crashed at all. Rock solid stable.

By the way, how would anyone beat this game in 30 hours?! The treaty quests alone are probably that long.
