I am in the Werewolf Lair, just above it (having saved the furry-things at the expense of some pointy eared angry man) and I am having problems with the Water Jug puzzle.

I believe I am following the ritual correctly in filling up the jug with water then attempting to place it on the Altar but I am constantly told that "there looks to be an ident for you to place something on here" when I click on the Altar with Water Jug in inventory.

Any ideas? I want
the final piece of the Juggernaught set
before moving on to the next area.

-First, you need a tablet of some sort from a coffin in the ruins. (I forget where)
-Pick up jug.
-Fill jug with water.
-Place jug on alter.
-Take 1 sip.
-Take jug off alter.
-Dump remaining water back into the pool.
-Jug shatters and the door opens.

I regret making my main character a Warrior, I didn't expect to have such an abundance of AI warriors to choose from and so few mages. I also find Alistair my favorite character so even though he's not really helpful to my party (two warriors) I want to keep him along. He always says funny shit lol. I really like the Alistair/Morrigan dynamic. It's too bad Wynne is so bloody boring. I should be using Leliana instead of Alistair but she annoys me to all hell. I can't stand hyper religious psycho talking, even in a video game!!!

How exactly do I return to camp anyway? I have just been going to the world map and going straight to places. I don't see an option to return to camp.

Top right of the world map. If you are in say denirum then there is a middle bottom button that will zoom you out to the world map.

I have the tablet and the quest.

I can pick up the jug and fill it with water however that is as far as I can go. The Jug will not appear on the Altar no matter what i do.

You're looking at the wrong altar. The altar you need for that quest is in the same room where you got the jug. It's along one of the walls. Took me forever to figure that one out.

I just finished off one of the treaties. I dont want to spoil anything but holy awesome story batman. This game made me have to stop and think for a very long time before I decided what I was going to do.
Do you mean the dwarf bit? That was amazing.
I brought Shale, and had to kill him/her. Still, I think it was the right thing to do...

As for money, I have *way too much* now, and I even stopped selling gems 1/3 of the way through. This may be because I never buy potions or even craft them. It may also be because I've done enough sidequests for the armor/weapon drops to be tier 6/7 (this happened just before my last treaty quest, which was the dwarves). That stuff nets you lots of $. Also, I buy all the backpacks I find. Those things pay for themselves.

If you have a high persuade, you can clear a big profit from a dust town scheme.

Just finished my first playthrough. I don't know if it was just the decisions I made, but I was a little let down by the ending. Oh well.

It was still an awesomely fun game. And, aparently,
if you don't kill that uber-strong female knight after rescuing Anora, you end up fighting her later anyway. For me, it was way easier the second time, and it was the same party. Only difference was that my main had War Cry...absolutely WONDERFUL skill. That let me focus on her.

Very fun game. Can't wait to start over. I'm thinking Mage next time around.

I just finished all the treaties and am tieing up some loose ends before prepping for what I assume will be a fight to the finish sometime soon. I'm impressed with the story although I do wish at least one of the treaty cities didn't have such a doom & gloom storyline attached to it. Just one at least... although the wise-cracking companions do help break up the seriousness of the storyline, thankfully.

I'm psyched about finishing up this origin story and starting another. My first playthrough was a human rogue, so I'm thinking maybe an elven character next but am unsure I want to commit to a warrior with Sten, Shale, Ohgren and Alistair more than covering the tank/dps roles. Maybe a mage then...

You don't *have to* - that is one you can get out of with persuade.

Does anyone remember what the deal is with the Mage's Collective story-wise? Nothing in the Codex about them.

I wish there were more guides for character creation out, I'm trying to make a warrior archer and I have no idea where to put my points. So far I've been putting some into str, a little more into dex, and a bit into cunning with a touch in cons. I have a feeling diluting my points like this'll get me trouble at higher levels, though.

I do, however, really enjoy the moral choices of the storyline. For my first playthrough I'm trying to play a morally good and helpful person, while trying to romance Morrigan at the same time (it's sooo hard while sticking to my moral tenets... dumb bitch :(). My next playthrough I'll probably play a dual-wielding rogue (so I don't have to have the stupid religious Leliana around), then a fire-blasting mage... don't know if I'll ever have the time to play through this game three times considering my obsession with completing sidequests and item-hoarding.

In order:

The mages collective wants to see the mages have a greater say in the politics of the land in general, and their own affairs more specifically. This amounts to wanting to release the stranglehold the chantry has over the circle.

The juggernaut set is found in the elvish woods - you need to examine the tombstones in the forest, and fight off the nasties that spawn when you disturb the tombstone. Save before you disturb them - those things can be vicious.

You don't actually need Leliana all that long. Zevran's a rogue as well, with a much less stringent moral compass.

It stats in the game dexterity increases damage from pricing weapons such as arrows. So I think you boned your archer build by dumping into strength, though if you're not to far into the game you can still salvage it as you'll need ~20 str later for the best leather armor, more if you go heavier. I would also skimp on the constitution as as your tank should be using taunt to draw anything off you.

As for Morrigan (I think you meant morrigan),
she likes jewelry gifts and doing her personal quest (do the mage quest) makes her really warm up to you.

IIRC, Bows are currently bugged, and get damage from Strength. Crossbows use dex properly though.

Is it possible to get through Dragon Age without Wynne?

I lost her in the Circle tower and have been popping pots nonstop now.

Also - at lvl 12 should I work on getting to lvl 14 before going after flemmeth or can it be done now?

I haven't done much with the bard yet for her bow skills so I was sporting mostly melee/mage party.

Wynne is the main healer, you can get through it fine without her, I find as long as you have lots of potions

You can play without her easily on normal and hard. On nightmare? Doubtful, but if you're good with tactics, possibly.

I was higher than 14 when I
killed Flemmeth
and had very little trouble, but I did the Mage Tower last.

are you sure they are bugged? the manual explicity state that crossbows benefit from dex which suggest that long bows do not; but the manual also seems to imply that damage from arrow (crossbow or long bow) is influenced by dex.

IIRC, Bows are currently bugged, and get damage from Strength. Crossbows use dex properly though.

Yes, I think bows should use dex instead of str for damage. Longbows should have higher str reqs though.

Also, there is a hotfix for the dagger damage taking dex and str over just str on DAMods.

But then, there is also that lethality talent which replaces str with cunning for damage. No mention if that is melee only or if it also applies to ranged.

This game needs a proper manual so bad. I havnt taken that talent.

Im currently playing a dwarven rogue archer and am really kicking some ass though. I just got the last talent in the archery tree.

Arrow of death is insane.. lvl 8 and it does 200+ damage in a single shot. Now Im going to pump up my lockpicking skill then will start putting points in ranger and bard.

My stats look something like this right now..
str 16
dex 34
wis 11
magic 11
con 16

You don't need a healer but it saves a ton of money that would otherwise be spent on pots. On normal, I've gotten halfway through the game and used maybe 3-5 pots total. You could also use Morrigan as a healer since there's nothing that prevents that.

I did Morrigan's sidequest around level 12 but it was easier since I was a mage so there were 2 people healing the tank. The quest is a lot easier if you do Wade's sidequest first. Getting 6 drake scales is pretty trivial. Then, you can almost have Leliana tank the boss's ranged attack. Most of the damage from these types of boss battles (if you get the drift) come from fire damage. Wade's armor can provide 70% fire resist. Add that with drinking a fire resist pot (+30% fire resist) and you pretty much negate almost all of the damage from the boss. Leliana should have Major's Recurve, which will do ~30/hit and maybe 100+ with skills like Arrow of Slaying. I found that the boss will spam mostly fire at ranged people if he/she has aggro while melee is still physical damage and fire.

Alternatively and much cheaper/easier. Just get your main tank to cast Taunt all the time and put a Force Field on him so that he takes no damage. AI is kind of stupid that way. Then, in those few seconds when the Force Field is down and needs recasting, Cone of Cold to freeze the boss for a couple seconds.
