Searched real quick and didn't see anything, so I thought I'd post:

Doom III will be out on XBOX. Just saw it on Firingsquad. You can read it: here

Short article, but sums it up. Sounds cool!

Searched all the other replies real quick and didn't see anything.

I heard that news about 8 months ago when they announced that it wouldn't be ported to the PS2

I remember Carmack saying Doom III was possible on the Xbox, but I don't think anything was confirmed.

Could be wrong though.

I hate FPS games on consoles... no controller will ever be as natural as a keyboard and mouse.

You didn't search hard enough. Carmack announced this when Doom III was first in the works.

Latest news says "Xbox and PC simultaneous launch."

Don't expect the performance of D00M III to be very good on the XBOX. I remember reading that Carmack was shooting for 30FPS on a GeForce3 class video card with no eye candy.

The XBOX is basically a 733 MHz Coppermine-128 (Celeron with 133 MHz FSB) and a modified GeForce3.

What I want to see is a Pentium-M based XBOX with a Radeon 9x00 series chip.

And there were even reports MS is trying to get a timed exclusive where the xbox version would be the only one available for a few months.

But he also said that if it couldnt play the way he envisioned it that it wouldnt have been available for that system, thus the reason ps2 and gamecube are not getting it.

the system would also cost more than 300

Actually its more closely related to a Coppermine Pentium III than a Coppermine Celeron. The reason being is that although it has 128KB L2 cache, its 16 way associative instead of 4 way (tremendously boosts performance), has a L2 cache latency of 0 versus 1, and is operating on a 133FSB. No P3 celeron was officially sanctioned above 100Mhz.

The GeForce3 is actually closer to a GeForce4, since there is 1 additional vertex shader and pixel shader.

Well the architectures are very similar (Xbox is DirectX-based) so its not very hard ot port. Chances are it will come out for PC first anyway. Chill out!

HL2 is also being released for XBOX as well. It probably wont be shown at E3 but it is coming so with the XBOX you wont just have to settle for one when you can get HL2, Halo2, and D3.

as long as the PC version comes out on time, I don't care. why would you play an FPS with a controller anyway...
