What does XBox have over a standard NV15 graphic card? An extra vertex shader. Big deal, even a Ti4200 has that.

Believe it when you see it? Um you just did see it. And I frankly don't give a sh!t about 3d hardware. If a game runs smooth and looks good, that's all I want. I really don't care if it's running on a PC or console, as long as I can play it, that's all that matters. And don't call me kid.

Deeko is just upset it wont run on his Gamecube :brokenheart: :D ;)

Actually, I'd never play an FPS on a console. I can't stand Metroid Prime. You'll be the one upset when my 9700 pro eats your pitiful NV2A for breakfast.

well, the NV2A is at least somewhat programmable, which the NV15 isn't...

Just a quick question. Can anyone see my posts? It seems like no one is seeing them.

I'm fully well aware that ATi's & Nvidia's video cards will do a better job than the Xbox will. I never said otherwise. Just because the Xbox won't be able to do as good a job, doesn't mean the game will look like sh!t. How I consider a game looking awful is extreme choppiness, blurry and unclear textures and sub par image quality. I highly doubt that will happen on the Xbox version, doesn't mean won't but saying it looks like sh!t just because a computer will do a better rending job is just stupid.

NV15 = GF3
NV20 = GF4

NV2A lies in between those two. Cards were not fully programmable until the next generation. The XBox's capabilities are DX8-based.

Ok, fine, I'll reword my statement.

It will look like sh!t compared to the PC. After seeing the PC version in all of its glory, the XBox version will look like ass to me.

XBox couldn't even do Unreal Tournament 2003 as well as the PC could.

You fvcked up.

NV15 = geForce2 GTS/Pro/Ultra core
NV20 = geForce3
NV2A = Xbox
NV25 = geForce4 Ti
NV30 = geForceFX

"Well what we've always called it officially is the NV2A. A lot of people have called it the NV25, but nVidia told us to call it the 2A instead & there are two reasons for that: one, the NV25 in the event that nVidia wouldn't use that part would be a PC part & it would be put in here. The second thing is the part that we have in the box is not just a super clocked NV20 but it actually draws some of the geometry features out of the NV30. So if you put a label on it, it's really an NV27.5 or somewhere in that range in terms of the family. But it doesn't really have an official name so we're settling on the NV2A & calling it a day at that."

Edit - Not trying to be an ass, just trying to clear things up. The fact that you stated "NV15" in your first posting is probably what confused everyone.

Yes I've played Halo. Yes I have an amazing sound system. But there are 2 things. 1) Graphics will look like ass compared to my PC 2) I don't care what ANYONE says, no console controller comes CLOSE to touching the keyboard/mouse for FPS!! Its no comparison.

Oh, and I'd hardly call the Klipsch ProMedias sh!t. Its nothing like my HT system, but they are pretty badass.

Alright, yea, my bad, my core numbers were a generation off.

I'll switch to the common names to get my point across :D

The GeForce 4 line is better than the XBox GPU. The XBox chip has a slight advantage over the GeForce 3, as it has an additional vertex unit. It is, however, only DX8 compatible, it does not have any signifigant additional features over the GF3.

I own all 3 consoles, and FPS with their contollers suck!!!!!!

If they would bring out a keyboard, and a mouse, I could care less. It will look better on a high rez computer screen though!

Yes but at least my XBox doesn't cost as much as your 9700 pro. FPS' on consoles aren't as bad as you would think. Will it look as good as the PC version? Hell no. That's like asking "will a LS1 powered Suburban run the 1/4 mile in the same time as a LS1 powered Camaro?" It will suffer some graphical limitations but quite frankly I'm not spending more than what I paid for my XBox to upgrade my computer JUST to get it to the minimum specifications needed to play Doom3 when I can play it on my XBox without having to upgrade $hit.

No doubt! 5.1 Dolby Digital is awesome. I've yet to hear a PC game with the same impressive positional audio.

I play my Xbox probably more than 10:1 more than my PC.

Carmack in the article in Wired already said that M$ft is offering a boat load of cash to simul-launch the Xbox version and the PC Version. I read no where in that article that they were thinking about releasing XBOX only first......but I guess it could have been "semantics". Either way----Doom3 looks to be revolutionairy....and alhtough I can't afford the $600 for a new gaming pc right now----I dont' care when they release it on the XBOX.....I'll buy it whenever it comes out :)

WTF, Doom III is DirectX now? Why the hell did Carmack switch to that sh!t....

And the whole thing about Doom III being on Xbox, is most likely Activisions doing (if they are still distributing it).. They dont care so much about quality, as they do about $$$.

Okay, not to be rude, but how ignorant can you be? Do you honestly think that an aging console with obsolete hardware could possibly come close to something that requirestoday's top-of-the-line vid cards just to run with all the goodies on? Equal or better? Give me a break! What were they watching the Doom III demo on, a voodoo3? Doom III takes advantage of hardware capabilities that were not implemented in the xbox's hardware, and couldn't have been, because it came out too early!
Man, some people! Just beef up your computer, and play it like the man's way... the way it was meant to be played! :cool:

Oh yes, in front of a 19" monitor instead of a huge TV with Dolby Digital surround sound. To some people (like him and me) games are better on a console, regardless of age of hardware. To some people (you and Deeko), it's better on a PC
