I'd say Hardee's is a better burger overall, but their good burgers are nearly 2x the cost of an INO double double.

They are also nearly twice the size. INO double double is 1/4lb of beef. It is cheap because it is small. I can feel full with JUST a six dollar burger from Carl's Jr. while I need the crappy fries from INO to get the same feeling.

Is Carl's Jr. any good? They just opened one up here and was thinking of checking it out. Worth trying?

Best burger belongs Tommy's, only with chili though because without t3h Chili I'm sure it wouldn't even be top 20. But their chili's one of the best tasting things every created. A Double Double with Tommy's chili added might make my head explode.

hummm, I need to try that...

Get a Tommy tamale covered in chili - the fresh tomato and pickle send it over the top.

Whenever I'm in SoCal we stop for some Tommy burger, fries, tamale covered in chili!

western bacon cheeseburger is classic. turkey burgers also pretty good.

the fries are pretty good, the other fried stuff took a huge nosedive. The fried zucchini was shit and nothing like I remembered. Waffle (aka crisscut) fries are also pretty good, esp when stoned as fuck and with ranch.

chicken sandwiches also sub par now that they moved to "hand breaded". The bacon ranch swiss chicken burger is now a shell of it's former self.

it's no better or worse than JITB/McD and better than BK, IMO

It's hit and miss. Missing in quality control. But when it's good it's too shabby. Not great, but worth checking out.
But then again, you walked out of a Popeye's without even trying it.
So who the fuck knows?

Oh snap, they have waffle fries? I was just lamenting the demise of the waffle fry. Now I'm going for sure.

Does Carl's Jr have frisco burgers (I know hardees does)? Those things are amazing.

I'd rather have a whopper jr than almost anything on Mcdonald's menu let alone their dollar menu.

Keith:

The Western burger is greatly overrated. I used to think it's good, now I really dislike it.

The burger to get is the six dollar burger (that's the name not the price). My favorties are the chili cheese or the hawaaiian (teriyaki and pinapple), you might have to ask for them.

You mentioned waffle fries, that's fine; shakes are good.

They have 'grilled cheese burgers' out but I don't recommend a lot.

Cool, thanks. Not a big fan of sweet burgers myself, so would likely skip the Hawaiian. Just looked at the online menu and the Jim Beam six-dollar burger looks nice. That, some waffle fries, and maybe a shake sounds about right.

Good thing I'm running a lot these days. :D

They have a tremendous Southwest Chicken Sandwich (green chiles, wheat bun, southwest sauce, cheese)

Fried Zucchini - only way to go. Pay the extra surcharge and sub fries out for the Zucchini.

Guacamole Bacon 6-Dollar Burger!

Sounds good, look forward to the feedback when you try it.

If you missed the edit: I don't recommend the grilled cheese burger.

It's not bad, just not as good as the six dollar burger and doesn't taste as good as it looks, it's a nice idea.

The Six Dollar burgers are pretty good (I personally don't care for the Western one with onion rings and BBQ sauce). I like the jalapeno burger or jalapeno turkey burger.

To be fair, others may like the Carl's Jr. grilled cheeseburger more than I did - anyone else try it with an opinion?

Looking back, I see a lot of people are saying Overrated this, overrated that - both with In & Out AND Five Guys. Someone said they are in the middle at best.

I dare ask you, if Five Guys is in the middle as far as fast food burgers go - what the FUCK are you smoking at the top?

well, if you've had shake shack it spoils you. it's big enough that it is becoming a chain of sorts.

i'd put shake shack at the top, then fatburger and carls jr. five guys, whataburger average to a bit above average. wendys in the middle, sometimes it can be a bit above average. burger king and mcdonalds below average. sonic just kinda sucks. tried it twice, was not good.

shake shack is considerably more expensive than any fast food place.

even more expensive than Five Guys or Fat Burger? I didn't think any fast food place could be more $$$ than Fat Burger.

definitely is a bit pricier but you can still get a great meal for 10 bucks or less - a single cheesburger and fries is a bit over 6 bucks. a double and fries is a bit under ten.

a double QP meal at McD's around here is like 7 and change for example. double Wendy's cheeseburger meal the same. for a couple bucks more i can get a meal that is 10 times tastier and thus many times more satisfying, even though it's a bit less meat. bring my own bottle of water. it's within a price range close enough.

A decked combo from SS is like $12.

$7 for a double, $3 for fries, $2 for drink, = $13 bucks after tax.

Carl's Jr bought out Hardee's years ago, so pretty much anywhere outside of the southeastern US, Carl's Jr = Hardee's.

IIRC, they won several burger awards a few years ago for their 6 dollar burgers. I assume they carry the Hardee's breakfast as well? you owe yourself a tasty sausage biscuit. (The six dollar burger is a Hardee's creation before they were bought out. Carl's went after them for this, and for the Hardee's breakfast, iirc.)
