You all... I tell you. Best burger EVER is Good burger. However be wary. Their order-taker/cashier is not bright, and it may take a while to make the correct order, or get everything you want.

All of you guys are missing the point. You can get an In-N-Out Double Double for under $3. A cheeseburger is about $1.50.

IMO Shake Shack to me is better than In-N-Out but it also runs almost $6.

Those aren't the prices out here. An in-n-out cheeseburger is over 50% higher than that.

google says YMMV:

McDonald's fails at more than just the dollar menu.

Yea only the biggest fast food company in the world would fail at more than dollar menu... wtf kind of ignorant statement is that, is it, "I hate mcdonalds so they suck so my view if them is permanently jaded"

did you even read that?

"In other places, especially in the U.S., a patty melt can consist of only the patty of a hamburger, with cheese, on a single piece of toast/bun. The sandwich is then fried with butter on a frying pan so that the cheese melts thoroughly"

Oh, and chain restaurants aren't using butter, they're using something like Wesgold. Basically, transfat.

When I lived down in LA I never understood why people got so excited over in n out. Mediocre burgers. They were fine and all, but not worth the lines. We have a similar place in Chicago- Hot Dougs. They do hot dogs and have lines out the door. Used to work across the street from it and never could figure out why people thought it was so good.

Burger King's $1.50 double cheeseburger is hard to beat. Grilled taste w/ lots of cheese. Yumm :)

I might give five guys 'second most overrated burger'.

Which isn't to say they're bad - their walls are covered with 'best ever!' material.

definitely overrated.

it's decent, but not cravable. sonic is definitely on another level below five guys. five guys is middle of the road in the grand scheme of big burger chains.

I have no affinity for fast food, however, In-N-Out is cool in how they treat their employees (i.e. compensation, advancement etc.) vs. big burger joints such as McDonald's and Burger King.

Best burger belongs Tommy's, only with chili though because without t3h Chili I'm sure it wouldn't even be top 20. But their chili's one of the best tasting things every created. A Double Double with Tommy's chili added might make my head explode.

hummm, I need to try that...

I haven't viewed everything in this thread, nor have I posted a burger... I was just replying to the patty melt thing because it was inaccurate. Patty melts don't require rye bread or mushrooms.

You're link, which I quoted part of, confirmed that.

Transfats are banned in CA eateries. They use Rice Oil, or so Im told by people who work in restaurants.

Cool, transfats are bad news. We use either butter or canola oil at home when we make grilled sandwiches like patty melts, turkey melts, tuna melts, grill cheese...

Unfortunately, transfats are banned everywhere.

lol who said anything about mushrooms?

the run of the mill patty melt has grilled/sauteed onions and is often on rye bread. that's all i was saying. i forgot to mention that the cheese is melted on it while being grilled/fried.

someone called the cheeseburgers i posted patty melts and not burgers, for some reason, which i thought was ridiculous because they didn't fit the typical criteria for a patty melt.

Yup.

I don't understand the article, are they saying the number of sales have decreased, or the value of those sales?

Because if it's the latter, it might be because now everyone just orders from the dollar menu to save money.

I used to pay $7-8 for a meal before I started buying from the dollar menu, now I usually spend less than $5. I realized I don't even want the larger portions, or the soda, so the dollar menu is perfect for me.

I read an article somewhere that this move to the dollar menus is (obviously) affecting the profits of all of the restaurants, because everyone is pinching their pennies now. It went on to explain how the sales on soft drinks have decreased, because many people ask for water now, which has prompted many to stop serving tap water and add bottled water to the menu.

I don't eat at McDonald's much, mostly just if my schedule it messed up that day because of extra appointments or maybe we're on a road trip. But that is pretty much what I do as well. I realized I don't really like their fries all that much and fountain soda just doesn't interest me anymore, in addition to being a rip off. So I just order McDouble's and those dollar menu chicken sandwiches, 2 or 3 of them depending how hungry I am. I don't know what their more regular customers order but I bet many of them do the same.

simple omit between mushrooms and onions. no biggie, dude.

bolded = not ridiculous, if the burger is on grilled bread with cheese, then it's a patty melt.

I prefer my burger on a bun. lightly grilled, dry. :) Just sayin'.
