Tada!! Someone gets it. At the LEAST it is two wasted days, at the worst it costs Democrats some votes or gives Republicans some votes.

In a state like VA this could be a HUGE issue. There are over 100,000 military people in the Hampton Roads area alone. Adding a percentage point of two to turnout in that part of VA could push Allen over the top.

I would guess that if Allen wins by less than a point then you could look to this Kerry mistake and make a good argument that it pushed Allen over the top, only 6 days till we find out. Thank god.

The fact that Kean is even close in New Jersey shows a huge weakness on the part of Menendez. Jersey is about as blue of a state as they come.

Yeah, but Kean can't bridge the gap, because the Kerry snafu is sucking all the oxygen out of the air, and noone is paying attention to Kean and corruption. It's all about Iraq again.

In answer to that question I give you
"Whatever the intent, Senator Kerry was wrong to say what he said," said Democratic Rep. Harold Ford Jr., running for Senate in Tennessee.

"Sen. Kerry's remarks were poorly worded and just plain stupid," said Montana Senate President Jon Tester, a Democrat trying to unseat GOP Sen. Conrad Burns. "He owes our troops and their families an apology."

"I'm sorry he did what he did. But I think the issue ... we want to make sure it doesn't confuse the subject of the war in Iraq," Democratic Rep. Ben Cardin, running for Senate in Maryland, said on CNN.
Maybe they don't believe the remarks were aimed at the soldiers, but they are concered enough to ask for an apology.

Kerry apologizes for 'misinterpreted' words

http://www.cnn.com/2006/POLITICS/11/01/kerry.remarks/index.html

"I sincerely regret that my words were misinterpreted to wrongly imply anything negative about those in uniform, and I personally apologize to any service member, family member or American who was offended," he said in a written statement.

"As a combat veteran, I want to make it clear to anyone in uniform and to their loved ones: My poorly stated joke at a rally was not about, and [was] never intended to refer to any troop," he said.

There you go, his second apology of the day. Hopefully we'll be back to talking about important issues tomorrow.

Doesn't matter, Webb is the Democrat, guilt by association. If the Kerry remark pisses off the military enough that more of them vote Webb will not be the one picking up votes.

That will be very interesting to see. At the beginning of the briefing today, Snow said all that was necessary was to say "I'm sorry." He said this even knowing that Kerry said that on the Imus show this morning. I wonder if this apology will be good enough for him.

GOP is really grasping at straws now. Remember how the sex quotes were supposed to bury Webb? And it turned out they were just a sign of GOP desperation and Webb was up big in the polls. The desperation with which GOP jumped on this, is like a starving dog that's been thrown a shoe to chew on. It's not a sign of strength, but a sign of weakness and desperation. Voters can smell desperation from a mile away.

Nah, GOP will continue to feign outrage while their candidates are trailing and can't get their message out through all the Kerry noise.

If VA goes Dem, that is a disaster for GOP. Because it means that the liberal Northern VA is taking over state politics.
Plus GOP is working their hardest to attack immigrants, so demographics is really not going to work out for them in the coming years.

As a lifelong member of the late Republican Party, I have NEVER been associated with the left, or as they used to say
'the Bleeding Heart Liberals' - I have steadfastly been a Moderate Conservative, looking out for the good of America.
I am now proud to stand to the LEFT of the Extremist Right-Wing Fruitcake Nut-Jobs that first STOLE my party,

Congragulations, you have destroyed all that the GOP has stood for since Eisenhower, through Goldwater,
Nixon and his evilness, and the salvation of the GOP when Reagan was the countires leader.
Your dispicable selfcentered agenda is the death knell of the Republican Party, and the GOP Conservative Doctrine.

I digress...

I'm finding it pretty humorous that I finally agree with the majority of the Democratic Party's top candidates. They are all coming out one at a time to say "Kerry's comments were certainly inappropriate... he certainly owes our soldiers an apology"

I'm having a grand 'ole time watching each of them throw Kerry under a bus one soundbite at a time!

Good times!

Left of what - Hilter?
Get a clue.

Yeah, I'm left of your Hitleresque Fruitcake mindset.
So, O,K just write off what used to be the true base of the GOP, you've lost us forever.
Me, and my family will NEVER trust the GOP again, so there's a whole bunch of LOST VOTES
that could have gone to a decent Republican candidate for years to come, that will now be placed into the trust
of Democrats or Independants, but NEVER AGAIN FOR A REPUBLICAN.
They have deceived us 'oldtimers' for the last time.
Kick them to the curb and stick a fork in them - they're done, and they damn well deserve what they brought upon themselves.
Dick Armey nailed it when he defined their failure - the ultimate over-reaching and pandering to the extremists.

Great quote from a National Review piece.
His pathetic clarification, as he blamed everyone from Tony Snow to Rush Limbaugh, displayed the same Al Gore derangement syndrome, and thus raises a larger question: what is it about George Bush that seems to reduce once sober and experienced liberal pros to infantile ranting?
Can someone explain that to me? This is the second attempted Kerry joke that he totally botched. The first was the "kill one bird" line he used on Maher, and now this one. If Kerry is so F'n smart, as the left wants us to believe, then why can't he come up with a decent joke that at least everyone gets?
On the flip side, we have Reagan, a supposed dunce, who would let zingers and one liners fly left and right. His one liner about the youth and inexperience of Mondale is probably the best one liner in Presidential debate history.

And why in his first response yesterday did he feel the need to bring up Rush? What is the point in that? Hello! We are talking about a comment you made Kerry, not something Rush said.

Here is one final good point for NRO Link
And why is the supposedly lame Bush so careful in speech, and the self-acclaimed geniuses like a Ted Kennedy, John Kerry, or Howard Dean serially spouting ever more stupidities? For all the Democrats' criticism of George Bush, I can't think of a modern President who has so infrequently put his foot in his public mouth, and, by the same token, can't think of any opposition that on the eve of elections seems to have an almost pathological death wish.

National Review doesn't accept Kerry's apology? Color me shocked.
Really at this point, after Kerry apologized, Repugs come out looking cynical if they keep beating this dead horse.

George Allen apologized, and the Dems never let him off the hook.
Trent Lott apologized for a joke at a birthday party and he had to resign.
Seems like when a Democrat screw up you are so ready to accept any apology, but when a Republican screws up you never let it go.

Why are you so much more preoccupied with Kerry's fluffed words than your idiot President's fluffed war and venile attacks on the U.S. Constitution?
  • Did anything in either of Kerry's statements kill 3,000 American troops and wound tens of thousands more?
  • Did anything he said gut the Constitutionally guaranteed right of those arrested to know the charges against them or to have access to legal counsel?
  • Did anything he said order Federal law enforcement agents to spy on our phone conversations and e-mail?
Can you explain this to me? If not, please stop posting until you have an answer for those questions.
