I VERY rarely cuss. In 6th grade, Sister Eugenia burned into my head that people that use profanities don't have the vocabulary to express what they want to say properly; that stuck with me all these years.

If I do use foul language, I have to be REALLY angry, so the family knows to watch out :) I've probably used profanity about 5 times in the last year.

but profanities do express what one wants to say perfectly and properly:

DO NOT QUESTION THE WISDOM OF SISTER EUGINIA. YOU WILL RECEIVE A RULER TO THE KNUCKLES FOR INSUBORDINATION.

Use of profanity is usualy an indication of weakness in communication. You can not use or are unable to determine the proper words to express yourself.

I used profanity once in my 26 years of life and it was an accident when I was about 8. I see no need.

That's what my grade 7 teacher said. He had a hell of an anger problem, and would spew harsh language though. In my view, people who don't use profanity are either liars or phonies.

No, it's the sign of repressive American puritanical behaviors. I can express myself quite well, beating my chest and stomping around is more preferable though.

Thanks for the psych eval, Freud.

of course, i object to using profanities professionally (ex. a boss calling an subordinate "you're a fucking moron") but as normal everyday usage, again, why the fuck not?

Hmm, but that's only taking it from the negative side of things, what if the boss said "you're doing a fucking great job", would you be ok with it then?

What if you just don't like using those words? Does that make you a phonie or a liar?

Fuck yeah, I laugh at people that that are offended by words. Granted, some settings require some level of etiquette, most don't.

No. What's the point? Used to be you'd hear it if something really went wrong or whatever, now it is so commonplace that it has lost its force so to speak. Besides, a foul mouth is just that, foul. I have much more respect for people who can get their point across without using a single cuss word.

The day you hear me use profanity is the day I want you to slap me across the face.
