what's the point? it's totally uncalled for, and if you have kids and your cussing in front of them your a total dueche.

i dont use it online as much as i do in real life. and usually when i curse depends on my mood. its not uncommon for me to curse a little, if im in a bad mood i curse a lot.

I'm from New Jersey....'nuff said. I don't trust people that don't curse, I think they are holding all this aggression in and it will boil over one day. Better to let it out with a bunch of 'fucks' and 'bitches' every now and then instead of going postal.

lol cuss words in this thread are limited to 2 words: fuck and bitch. How poor.

I curse in English and Russian. Russian has like 999x amount of cuss words and combination possibilities.

no. I feel like people who curse all the time are stupid. It makes me feel like I'm talking to a lower class person.

BAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA!!

but doing drugs in front of them and not being around for them while you're in jail is perfectly fine?

I worked in factories and job shops for over thirty years, what do you think?

Unfortunately, I now have to watch everything I say around that 3 year old grandchild in my sig. I guess she'll make me a better person.

No, I don't. I don't see what is gained by it. It neither makes you look tougher, angrier, or whatever your trying to accomplish. If it is the shock factor then I don't find it all that shocking (they are just words)

Honestly, the words carry little context with them. Some people through them into sentences like the word "like". And it makes the look equally stupid to a person that would say "like" every fifth word.

Just curious how most people feel about using profanity.

On-line or in the real world of Arkitech?
Fixed. Don't want to venture a guess as to which one, if either, is real...

Have to define rarely and often. Some people use an expletive in almost every sentence. Some use one a few times a day. Some use one a few times a year.

How about you?

Constantly in the Navy. Mostly because its the only acceptable way to release stress. Right around the time I joined the service was cracking down hard on illegal drung use but also putting in lots of effort to deglamorize alchohol and the old ways of doing things.

Sailors going out, getting fucked up and acting like idiots was no longer considered cute or amusing. So on a daily basis pretty much the only way you can relieve stress and not get into trouble is by swearing.

I have been trying very hard to cut back on my swearing since I got out.
Despite the popularity of R movies these days, not to mention most HBO shows, its generally considered not acceptable to swear in society. It irritates people and makes them uncomfortable.
While I dont personally care about all that, I am trying to be successful in the world and its considered unprofessional to swear in the civilian workforce.

So I cut back on it.
As a general rule I have found that people are more willing to work with me when I'm not swearing, and the managers think more highly of me.

At home, when the video games piss me off: I unleash with full fury.

I guess I have the George Carlin attitude about language. You shouldnt let something as simple as a WORD offend you. Thats silly.
But if the only way you can express yourself is with obscenity then you either arent very intelligent, or wont be perceived as such. You should use cussing to enchance your communication, not limit it.
The purpose of comminication is to exchange information. If all you can do is swear you really arent saying much. A person who talks constantly and says little is announcing to the world how dumb he really is.
Keep your mouth shut, then no one will know. And you come off as mysterious.

Two perfect examples are Deadwood and The Sopranos. Can you imagine how much shit those people would accomplish if they just stopped swearing and got to work? Less time wasting with meaningless words, more time communicating actual thoughts, get straigt to business quicker.

Also, gratuitous swearing simply for comedy is definitely good stuff.

"COCKSUCKA!!!!"

Yes, but I'm respectful enough not to use it in front of older people. I mainly use profanity around friends and when I'm pissed at games.

I don't mind profanity if it used in humor, but it has to be clever.

I was visiting some friends and we were talking to their neighbor who was moving some rocks in his yard. They looked like they were made of styrofoam and painted to look real. My friend asked him if they were faux rocks. He replied, "yeah, they're faux-king heavy."
