You really should be taking in around 1500-1800 if you want to lose weight. A guy your size probably needs 2300-2500 just to maintain. Even at 1500-1800 you are 700-1000 calories below your needs.

No, I gain weight eating anymore than I do now. I am 5'7" 125lbs and I dont need alot to keep me going.
I just need to up the cardio and get a little more protien.
Don't get me wrong, I like being small. I don't want to be big and muscular. But I do have a decent build for my size.

Hmm.

Breakfast is either some Pop Tarts or a bowl or Resses Crunch Cereal
Lunch is usually McDonalds for 2 cheeseburger meal or the 10-piece mcnugget meal
Dinner varies from just snacking all night to having my wife make something to throwing in a frozen pizza.

No exercise since my v-ball league ended.

Maybe that's why I'm near 190. hmm.
Sucks when you don't like fruits or vegetables...

I was talking about the guy that's 6'9 and 280. His body needs a lot more than you do at half his size. But even at 5'7 and 125, you really should be aiming for at least 1500'ish calories depending on how active your lifestyle is.

I just don't snack, I eat very high fiber diets, and have cut out highly refined foods as much as possible. I walk on the treadmill 3 days a week for 30 minutes and do some light weight resistance.

That's the ideal way to do it. Don't restrict yourself so that you feel like you're being 'good' then one day you just go crazy and have a whole lot of pizza. Just subtle changes to your overall lifestyle can give you amazing results with lasting weight loss.

Oh okay. I was the only person to mention that I take in about 1000 calories so I thought you were talking about me.

I was getting my posts mixed up. Sorry about that. But to the OP - how many calories are you eating per day? By my count it's somewhere in the 1200-1500 calorie range depending on serving sizes.

I don't know how many calories I take in, but given that I eat when I'm hungry, I can't imagine that I don't get enough to eat.

Yeah, I couldn't cut out the Guinness on weekends either, but I would suggest whole grain pastas when you can. I personally like the taste, and I LOVE the fact that I dont' get a big rush after I eat pasta, and then pass out when I crash. ;)

I thought the South Beach Diet was like Atkins but more restrictive. Isn't it?

Not at all, and I make sure that if I get a quick craving, I'll have some. I just don't make a habit of it. I might get fast food once every other week, and only if I'm not at home (ie. if I'm out of town and need breakfast, I'll grab McD's in the morning, but just a little bit). When I eat out, I just try to choose red meats and veggies that aren't fattening.

EDIT: The reason I still get it from time to time is that I don't want to feel like I'm telling myself I CAN'T have things. That just leads me to think I'm restricting myself. If someone has a cake at work, I get a small piece. It's not that hard when I'm eating 5 times a day because I just ate something. So I need to fill the craving for that cake, but I don't need a lot to do it.

Now I'm going to eat my apple and orange. I'm going out with co-workers for a sushi lunch.

Have you ever been fat?

No i haven't been a fatty, but i've had fat I wanted to get rid of, and i did, and i know that when you "diet" you are changing what you eat, and from what it sounds like in your OP, you changed the way you were previously eating ...

and i have dieted in a bunch of different ways. i have changed my diet to lose fat and get leaner, and right now i've changed my diet to gain mass since i'm bulking up.

EDIT: and its great what you did, don't get me wrong ... just saying you did it w/out dieting is only kidding yourself.

None?

Fruit, no. Unless it's in a smoothei at Jamba Juice. Unfortunately we don't have Jamba Juice around here.
Vegetables I eat more of but not on a regular basis. Beans, cauliflower, broccoli, etc. I hate salads because lettuce is just like eating grass too.

That's just it! I AM kidding myself! I'm not thinking of it as a diet because a diet in my head signifies that I'm giving something up. I'm not giving up anything. I'm choosing different things to eat and eating more frequent, smaller meals, but I'm not letting myself get hungry, which is important.

I hate lettuce as well. That's why I make my salads with baby spinach. It's better for you and it doesn't taste like dirt.

i think if i stopped drinking soda and did nothing else, i would level off instead of my weight creeping up, i get like 200-500 calories per day from soda or even more on some days

i need to get more sleep and then i would have an easier time of kicking caffeine/soda

It's not that easy. It's hard to stop drinking soda. If you eat more meals during the day of smaller portions, your energy stays up (I can personally attest to this). The sleep thing is less of a factor if you can eat right.
