Do you flash your lights to warn others of a SPEED trap? [not necessarily high beams]

Two sheriffs lasering behind a bridge overpass. I was going the other way, so I saw the trap. I'm not sure if it is legal, so I didn't do anything, but I wanted to...

It's legal to flash in PA. Of course you can also be stopped for using your high beams inappropriately (e.g. you are too close to the car in front of you or there is oncoming traffic), but you can't specifically be stopped for blowing their "cover."

Which makes sense - if they claim the point of the speed trap is to get people to slow down and not just fishing for revenue, people will slow down when they see you flashing them.

That said...I don't bother. It's not worth the hassle.

It's not legal to flash your high beams like that, at least in NH.

I think I missed the part about high beams. I don't think it's illegal to turn your headlights on and off to warn someone. I've done it before. I certainly could be wrong and, if so, I'm sure I'll find out here. 🙂

Why not just flash your regular lights instead of highbeams?

yeh, i just turn lights off then on i hope ppl are smart enuf to relize what up ahead 😛

do it all the time here...if they catch ya just say it was your normal lights...theres no law against that 😀

I don't.

My uncle is a police officer, and he was telling me about how they found a child during an amber-alert due to a speed trap...

Flashing the brights = Improper use of high beams.

But, you could always just say that some guy the other way had his (brights on / lights off / parking lights on) and you were giving him the courtesy blink ... 😛
