I'm also the type (very German like) who will use his high-beams to flash the hell out of those idiots going 50 MPH in the left-hand lane with 50 cars piled behind them.

Such drivers are the people who cause accidents, forcing people to pass on the right. Those are the people cops should be stopping, ticketing, and arresting.

QFT:thumbsup:

Have to Q this one FT as well

If 50MPH is the speed limit, there is no problem. Nobody "forces" anyone to pass on the right. Stop being so impatient, obey the law and enjoy your ride.

left lane is for passing though not for cruising along at whichever speed you see fit.

You're not allowed to exceed the speed limit, even to pass. If 50 mph is the limit, and the person in front is doing 50 mph then there is no problem.

agreed. stfu. two lane highway. 55mph speed limit. two cars in both lanes, both parallel to each other, basically blocking any opportunity to pass. both cars going 55mph. whats wrong? my best friend just had a heart attack, and since your panzy asss won't get into the cruising lane, I cant rush him to the hospital. the point is, one lane is for passing, the other is cruising. let people pass and dont pass judgement on why or how they should be allowed to pass.

See if the police are around when GTAudiophile and I work together to force you off the road from the left lane, then proceed to gang rape you on the side of the freeway.

Anyone who stays in the left lane, regardless of their speed, is breaking the law and being a jackass. Even when I'm going 100+mph, as soon as it's safe I move back into the middle or right lane after passing.

I don't see how it's against the law (constitutionally) anywhere. It's generally understood to mean "speed trap ahead," thus should fall under the protection of the first amendment. In fact, IIRC, there was a case where that point was successfully argued about a decade ago.

I'll do that - when I'm coming up on a common speed trap. The jackasses riding my bumper end up appreciating it after we pass the cop at a very legal speed and resume 90mph travel.

I think it's illegal in Canada for cops to hide to clock cars

Then the OPP is breaking the law. Call the OPP! Oh, wait. :p

Behind overpasses, just past crests in a hill, hell, they hide behind the giant rocks on 69 North. It's cat-and-mouse, and you just have to know how to play. ;)

About a year ago there was a huge stink on US-58 because one cop sat with this radar behind a construction van in a work zone and had multiple cops pulling people over, IIRC they got over 150 vehicles in one day.
This is very common around here. MDSP has a Volkswagen sedan that they use as a radar spotter vehicle. I usually see it teamed up with motorcycles, but a few times, I've seen it with cruisers and high-speed pursuit cars.

Yep! Do it when ever & how ever possible. Just cops & robbers for me=a game.

Where PCH opens up they have radar traps often. I saw a homeless guy working his collection with a sign that said RADAR AHEAD at the stop light. Bet he had a good take that day :p

yep

if i see the bobby with his radar gun, ill flash the people coming the other way to warn them....motorists gotta look out for each other if they dont wanna get raped.

i dunno if flashing your lights at people here is legal or not, everyone uses it a lot, specially when getting a drivers attention at a junction, ie when your signalling them to let them out of the said junction. its like a 'hey im letting you out dude' signal. HGV drivers do it to each other too, when they have their 20mile long overtaking efforts, the guy getting overtaken usually flashes the truck in front to signal that he is clear of the front of his truck and he can now merge back to the slow lane.

i would hazard a guess that flashing other drivers to warn of a speed trap is probably not allowed, and doing it on the motorway doubly so. but everyone does it, and everyone appreciates it.

its like one of them rules, like the speed limit. the limit is 70mph on our main roads, but everyone does 80-85. technically they are speeding, but so long as traffic is flowing nicely i dont think anyone actually cares, so long as you arent pulling a ton 50 in the fast lane.

Yeah, I do it if I can.
I seriously doubt those speed traps help fight accidents, I can think of at least a dozen better things for the troopers to do to help prevent accidents.

I usually pick and choose who I will warn about the speed trap.

Flashing high beams usually tells someone that they have their high beams on. Turning off and on quickly is usually what people up here do to warn of speed traps, the cops can't tell because the tail-lights stay on.
