Many came to this country with nothing, they were discrimimated against, abused, but with hard work they made themselves successful. The same applies to Canada as well. In fact, in most Western countries this is the case. The success seems to follow the people. On the other hand, with certain groups, failure follows the people, regardless of where on Earth they choose to live, even in their native country.

Also, I don't see a huge Asian component to the US penal system.

not for hundreds of years and i'm willing to bet that not even 5% of the asians who live here today had descendants who worked on the railroads... their families chose to come on boats and planes. a huge percentage of blacks in this country are related to the slaves who were brought here.

you can't really compare the two... it's like apples and oranges. black slaves created almost their entire race population in this country... asian slaves didn't. like i said, there's a huge difference.
