<< People's health isn't something to be shrugged off nonchalantly, and is definetly not something that should be sacraficed for the personal gratification, and self-degredation of a single person >>

It's OUTSIDE!!! Whose health is being effected besides mine? There are two doors. Two seconds will not hurt anyone. There is plenty of air between where we used to stand and the door. It's OUTSIDE!!!

The bottom line is, you are choosing to smoke. Since it is something that affects others, you are the one who should be inconvenienced, and not the rest of the world. And yes, two seconds will affect people. Go sniff on an exhaust pipe for two seconds. Don't worry though, I wont drive inside.

I AM BEING DISCRIMINATED AGAINST! My rights to clean air is being violated. The smokers always smoke outside, so that i am being fored to breathe it in against my will. some bastard smoker keeps on demanding for his right to smoke because the can't smoke by the back door in the smoke filled alley. WE WANT TO WALK INSIDE! HOLD YOUR BREATH!!!!!!!!! DON'T BLOW OUT YOUR SMOKE! I'm being discriminated against. Could there be a lawsuit in this?

I thought he said he was going to bed anyway? NM summed it up quite succinctly. You're going against what is acceptable to the whole of society and presenting a health risk to them no matter who small you may think it is. If it bothers you that much quit (smoke or the job....really doesn't matter to me). I also would like to point out that no smokers have really come ot your defense yet which might point out that there could be some flaws in your logic.....

Poontos: May I suggest you look at either a dictionary, or the 'pornmullets' section of mulletsgalore? There used to be a pic in there with a mullet (the real kind) in someone't nether regions.

Edit: Looks like he had to take the pornmullets section out for now. If you're wondering what I'm talking about, check out my link above.

<<IT'S OUTSIDE!!!!!!!!!!! >>

Who cares where it is. If its close enough for me to notice it, its close enough for me to be damaged by it. Stay away from me (fifty feet sounds like a good distance), and you only pose a danger to yourself.

<<So if you decide to keep walking in my direction, should I run? >>

Depends. Are you in my space, or the 'smoker's space. If you're in my space then yes run your tar-infected flesh-sac as far away as you can. If I'm in your space, then it becomes my own decision to endanger my heath, and is no longer your worry.

i don't care what you do as long as it doesn't bother me. smoking will bother me. therefore, if you do something to bother me, i will bother you. since you harmed my lungs, i will beat you in your chest with my bat until your lungs bleed. how's that for a deal with the smokers? if i stand next to you everyday, my lungs will most likely be ruined when i'm old. eye for an eye. up for it? think about that when you smoke.

My smoke space happens to be in the way of the excercise trail (owned by the building owner). If you want excercise, bring it on.

You sound like you think it's OK to kill a doctor who performs abortions. Or is that just different? At least I wouldn't have to worry about you shooting me, guns are baaaad. You can't run over me in your Tahoe, SUVs are baaaad.

If people are going to smoke in front of the door that people use to go into a SMOKELESS building, they ought to be able to smoke in the building.
There is a cloud of smoke the non-smokers HAVE to go thru to get in. THIS SUCKS!

8Ball -- this is not personal.
I fly into Chicago Midway airport quite often, and this is the situation.
The smokers have to be outside, and because the door is close that is where they light up.

As a non-smoker, I hate my clothes and hair smelling like I down a pack of Camels a day. Running the gauntlet to get in or out of somehwere is not cool. Because you choose to do it, does not mean I have to smell like it.
Be considerate.

On a second note.... smokers in general are the biggest litter bugs I have ever seen. It is as if there is a sign on a pack of cigs that says:
"Butts are made of naturally occuring material, it is ok to flick/throw/drop/put them anywhere you damn please, because they are biodegrable." I know some considerate smokers, but for the most part, not one thinks it is littering to throw one out the window. Look at the ground at the next stop light....

Do not generalize. I will agree that many smokers litter, but that does not have anything to do with where they stand.

By the way, the town I live in does not allow smoking in ANY resturaunt.

Took me a long time to get used to NOT saying "Non-smoking please."

What if smoking within 5 feet of a door was part of my religion? Would it be OK then?

Your new religion also requires mullets and a confederate flag in the back window of your rusted out pick-up.
