So you spent more than necessary on purpose? The "money is no object" crowd don't really fit into this equation.
Eh, I wouldn't state that I spent "more than necessary". I might have been able to find something that matched exactly what I wanted at a slightly lower price, but once you start adding in features like fully modular to a PSU, you're usually looking at premium PSUs. Also, since it was going into my server, I wasn't as worried about wattage so much as lifespan. I don't want my server going down due to a cheap-o, bargain bin power supply failing. Then you go to motherboards. I spent more on that because I wanted an excess number of SATA ports, so I wouldn't run out. 10 ports isn't that common on boards!
It also doesn't help that I'm fairly anal retentive about certain things such as noise and cooling.
