So Mary wasn't a virgin after all?

maybe its just possible she had the kids AFTER Jesus?

Virgin birth? I can buy it.

A married couple not getting down afterwards? No chance in hell.

Yes because everyone knows married people enjoy more sex than singles..

She was a virgin when she became pregnant with Jesus and through the pregnancy. However, she did marry Joseph. It's incredible to me that people think she didn't have sex with her husband. Jesus was the oldest. His siblings were conceived, carried, and born in the usual way by Mary and Joseph.

yes....I think Mary was kind of regearded as a "slut" too...I remember some kid brought that up when I was in the 7th grade. He went straight to the principal's office (he didn't use the hoe).

Different Mary.

I would be willing to bet that a DNA test of Jesus' remains would have proved interesting.

That thought has fascinated me for years. I bet it would match the DNA of the aliens the government has in storage, proving that god doesn't exist, and they put us here and ****** with us to watch on thier high-definition spy satellite while they took whatever drugs to make watching us actually funny.

And how long was Mary and Joseph married before she became pregnant? I find it hard to believe that the two of them didn't bump uglies the first night. Not to mention, was it considered immoral to have pre-marrital sex before Jesus?

They weren't, yet, married when Mary became pregnant with Jesus. Joseph was engaged to Mary at the time and was waiting out the culural standards for length of engagement time before marriage. Joseph became angry when he learned Mary was pregnant, believing (as any of us would) that she had been unfaithful, and determined to end the engagement. Joseph then had a dream in which he was told by an angel/messenger that the pregnancy was the son of God, Mary was faithful and a virgin, and that the baby was to be named Jesus.

Yes, it was considered immoral to have pre-marital sex in that culture. It still happened but women that had pre-marital sex were considered 'damaged' and 'disgraced'. Life was often much harder for them. That was a very patriarchal society.

Saying that this was written out of the Bible by the church is nonsense. It's all there in black and white, as Klin demonstrated.

Contempoary historians believe James played a quite large role in the nurturing & developing of the early christian church in the immediate years after his brother's death. this role played by James is actually ignored or minimized in the gospels (which were of course written many years after Jesus' death) - James barely gets a mention in the gospels. His real (i.e., historical contributions to the development of the early church remain essentially unacknowledged.

I have always wondered if God asked Mary for permission to impregnante her. If he didn't, then wouldn't that be rape? 😕

I don't think he asked permission. He's God, he can do whatever he chooses. Mary saw it for the incredible honor that it was. Is it rape if there was no sex involved?

Off topic, but would it still be considered rape if a man injected his semen into a woman's uterus via turkey baster?

not sure if that is rape, but it is definitely sexual assault.

Woah he had a brother?

woah, actually read the bible for once?
Why, when it's so much fun to bash based on misconceptions, rumors, and hearsay? It's not like any of these questions could be answered by a 10 year old by reading the Bible, anyways, right?

The Jesus I know has a lot of brothers and sisters, he's married and has a bunch of kids himself, and I see him everyday since his desk is right next to mine.

Many newlyweds are too tired from the antics of the day to bother.

Anyone with a high school reading level can read the bible and answer stupid questions like the ones posted on AT.

His name was James.

edit: he was written out of history by the early xian church.

edit 2: actually, he had several brothers and sisters. these were full siblings (not half-siblings, altho he may have had half-siblings as well). I am talking about the children of Mary, i.e., Jesus, James, Joses, Judas, & Simon, plus sisters

That was a good laugh..thanks for that. BTW...your facts are horribly incorrect...according to the early church.
