Did Iran shoot down the airliner?

It would seem that everything involved was surface to surface.
Not is it was a tor missile.
Anyway

Iran is inviting everybody to join the investigation into what is what.. maybe except the US. So this is an effort to gut the US narrative with the "truth". Who knows. On the other hand, at the brink of war with the US you may wanna play nice with as maaaany other nations as humanly possible while you can.

Very suspicious if it was not intentional as the flight departure was delayed by an hour - Enough time to set up a SAM site.

If it turns out to be an accidental shooting Trump is equally responsible as Iran. Americans were killed on that flight
Stop blaming Trump for everything that happens. Iran decided to blindly launch an AA missile and many people paid the price for their incompetence. I know that #Progressheviks have a hard time not supporting Iran, Russia, China, and North Korea.

You sre do represent the last 4 letters of your name -- BULL!!

Because a large portion of the public *loves* that shit. It's click bait.

Yes, of course, and it's also irresponsible journalism. It may seem harmless, but there's a reason people don't think critically and develop so many silly and wrong ideas. The news media is supposed to help with that...

Yes and most of the major news media are simply another business providing what they think their customers want and this is what they want. The media didn't create that population, they live off it.

You want people to think critically, then teach it. Starting in grade school.

Once again the party of personal responsibility does nothing to hold their leader responsible for the very foreseeable outcome of his actions.

The milieu that led to the launch was created by the assassination of the Iranian general.
This is the issue when countries create tense military situations. Even if the guys at the top are smart, the guys who are at the bottom and actually sitting on these weapons are not and all it takes is once trigger happy goober to start a war. That is the problem with pissing off countries and creating situations like it. All it takes is one mistake, one shot to be fired accidentally by a scared or trigger happy soldier and two countries can find themselves at war.

This is also why it's so damn hard to have cease fires in war. Someone mistakes an engine backfire for a gunshot, shoots at the enemy, the enemy shoots back and at the end of the day who knows how many people are dead with both sides saying the other shot first.

Put the blame surely where it lies. That Iranian general assassination has NOT made any Westerner more safe.

The same reason people who own guns shoot their wives in the dark in the middle of the night when they hear a noise.

So your fallacy is this? A plane sneaking out of the airport in the middle of the night was shot down while the airport was sleeping with all the lights off.
Something like that?
Because they could???
Cut off the nose to spite the face.

It doesn't make sense, at all.

The plane was downed several minutes after take off and after Iran launched missile attacks at US bases in Iraq.

What's interesting are these parts from the article

"The Ukrainian embassy in Iran initially issued a statement saying: 'According to preliminary data the plane crashed due to engine failure for technical reasons. As of now versions of terrorist attack or missile attack are ruled out.' However, that claim had been deleted from the embassy website by Wednesday lunchtime, with an updated statement saying merely that the causes of the crash were under investigation. "

So why the retraction? Iran still claims engine failure or pilot error cause the crash.

However apparently the pilot didn't raise any alarms about the planes handling

"Iranian media quoted an aviation official as saying the pilot of the airliner did not declare an emergency. "

"The jet was new and had been checked two days ago, the Ukrainian airline said. 'The plane was in working order,' UIA company president Yevgeniy Dykhne told a briefing in Kyiv where he choked back tears. 'It was one of our best planes with a wonderful crew.' "

Also "Photographs of the downed Ukrainian airlines jet show that the fuselage appears to be peppered with shrapnel damage. Experts have said that an engine fire or pilot error does not explain those holes (pictured). "

Also every single airlines seem to have decided fuck it, I'm rerouting all my flights to avoid Iran so it's clear what they think caused this

Ummmmm, no.
Just no.

-I wouldn't misinterpret all the fretting in the echo chamber as reality.

What's the immediate downside to this whole thing, politically? No wars were started, bad guy is dead, Iran looks incompetent instead of strong.

Obama ordered a US military strike inside a nuclear armed "allied" country to get Bin Laden. It was a gutsy move and it paid off. plenty of ways that mission could have gone very sideways and it didn't and because it didn't we applaud Obama (rightfully so).

The situation is "same same but different" here, and politically it will help Trump.

I don't like Trump as much as the next guy, but one thing he is somehow, miraculously managing to do (intentionally or not) is keeping the US out of foreign wars while still taking down guys like Baghdadi and Sullemani.

Look, I'll admit I didn't read any articles. your's or anyone else's.
I hear enough news from the tv in the other room.
I was surprised to learn that the flight took off from Tehran, passengers were mostly Iranian and Canadian.

Why would "Iran" shoot down a plane leaving their capitol city's airport, with no Americans on it?

Question, where did the plane crash? In Iran or elsewhere?

Anyway, it may have been an accidental strike, it makes no sense to say it was an intentional strike against the US.

When people think they are at war they make mistakes, grave mistakes. The way to prevent these mistakes is not to create situations where people are on edge
