I give you 2 months of living with her before one of you dumps the other one.

Actually, we plan on marrying and have been together for over a year now. She is going to be a doctor and I'm going to be an IT.

Wow, you've been together a whole year, must be serious
Dude, a frickin' year, you haven't been to college yet, you're thinking of marriage, you're full of BS, and YOU HAVEN'T BEEN TO COLLEGE YET.
Seriously, how much of life do you truely know? IMO it's stupid to move in with her, then break up, find you're both screwed in terms of living arrangements, and then you'll come here and whine your life is over.
It's not gonna be good for you.
It's not gonna be good for her.
It's not gonna be good for your dad (except he gets to say "I told you so")
And last but DEFINATELY not least:
It's not going to be good for US on this board having to listen to your whining when you realise we were right and you're screwed.

(And before you say "You need to get a girlfriend", well I had one for maybe 18 months, we got to college (university) and after a few weeks (we had accommodation in seperate places, arranged by the uni), it clearly wasn't working out, and we broke up - amicably. If we had been living together, it almost certainly still wouldn't have worked, but we may have ended on less friendly terms, our initial experiences would have been a lot different, and we'd be in trouble because we'd be living together still, and possibly not on the best of terms).

And we never had ANY arguments the ENTIRE TIME.
Dear heavens, reality will fall quite heavily on you... _Never_ marry someone eith whom you haven't had a knock-down, drag-out fight. It _will_ happen eventually. If you've been fake enough to avoid it so far, then there are things you are not dealing with.

ZV

I don't know that I agree with that. My bf and I are both pretty mellow and we have disagreements and sometimes argue, but we've never had an all out fight, and I can't see it happening. We're too good at being grown up and talking about our problems, I guess.

Sometimes I just want to punch you in the face.
hahaha

ROFL.

Then get married! Planning doesn't mean anything and living together without a strong commitment is simply asking for problems. If you're practically engaged AND living together, there is no reason you shouldn't get married. Unless of course you doubt that you SHOULD be married, in which case you can't claim "we plan on marrying" as a valid reason for living together.

Important point: You are young and naive. The fact that you don't realize this proves my point.

Also, listen to Zenmervolt (about this and the argument thing). His words are wise.

Don't do it. Odds are very much against you.

Junior year I was living with 3girls in a house and they drove me crazy after a month (NEVER live with a bunch of girls either, one, especailly if she isn't your gf is fine but more is just trouble) so I basically moved into my gf's dorm room. We had been going out since the end of fall sememster freshman year and by sophmore year we were spending basically everynight with each other so we figured it wasn't a big deal. We broke up at the end of the sememster.

Yep odds are against you

All the surveys and statistics point out that the earlier a couple live together before they marry, the higher ther divorce rate

And marriage isn't a game. It's a live devotion
Geez how old are you?

In a few years time perhaps ou'll be mature enough to look back and laugh at how inane your current self is.

It all depends on both of your maturity levels and situation in life.

I'm 29, For financial reasons my Fiancee and I lived together for 3 years while we were finishing our Master degrees, and now we are getting married in 2 more years.

But I'll say this, (Married or Not Married) a College social life can easily cause friction, bitterness, and distrust between people living together.

If you are going to live with a woman in college, expect to give her 200% of your attention. This means you'll have to sacrifce your college social life, and be extremely flexible if she needs something important taken care of which does mean missing class time to time.

We are very fortunate that our arrangement did work out because we very dedicated to each other. But at your age, I definately suggest NOT moving in with a girl at this point in your life, it's simply too much commitment.

not to mention the fact that living with your bf/gf in college is a HORRIBLE idea. not only will you two most likely breakup, if you were living together you'd be out a place which would suck even more.

And its so much harder to break up with someone when you know it means you'll have to throw them out of their own apartment; then its not just a break-up, its a life-changing disaster. Oh, and any "I think we just need some time apart" arrangement becomes impossible.

People probably shouldn't live together unless they're married (for practical, not religious, reasons), and certainly not while they're still in school.

Wow, this thread is still active? o_O

NEways, we have decided to not live together until were mature enough to do so.

Also, we just recently had an argumnet over her mom. Her mom is a hypochondriac and I told my GF that I hope she doesn't turn out like her mom.

BAD IDEA!!!!!!!!!

i wouldn't, you both need some space. IIRC, 50% of people who live together before marriage get divorced.
