From reviews its anywhere from 25 to 40 hours so that seems about right, personally I take my time in these sort of games so will be trying for 40 + 🙂 .
Still having some aiming issues. Getting better but I die a lot. Turning into a major sneak. Doesn't hurt as much. Already got a patch form EIDOS and Steam. Increased saves from 20 to 99 and fixed a problem some were having on NVidia cards if they had some ATI drivers left over. Didn't affect me. Until the mouse issue is fixed I expect to spend a lot of time on this game. May even replay and I never do that.

That's good. The Mass Effect games take me right around 30 hours to complete almost everything in one playthrough and I find that to be a good single player campaign length. Anything longer and I find it hard to finish because of how little game time I have.

agreed.

If only I can bring myself to get through the first Deus Ex game--the control interface is woefully ancient, if you ask me.

I've been playing the first one again recently and I still feel it holds up pretty decently aside from certain areas being too dark. Control wise I feel it is similar to moderm fps games no?

it relies heavily on kb buttons that you don't see any more, such as ; for sniper zoom, and crouching is uncomfortable--i forget, but it isn't ctrl or c, or you have to hold it down and then to do other moves, like sneak, wop a dude in the head while crouching, is physically difficult.

I had such a frustrating time with the training mode and first 2 minutes or so of the first mission that I haven't played it again.

you can tweak the controls, but there are so many necessary actions (like scope zoom) that can't be mapped to mouse buttons effectively that I simply haven't bothered taking the time to work with it.

Just curious, how are you guys measuring how long it takes you to complete a single player campaign? I mean, when I play, I play 15 minutes here, an hour there. The only way I'd know it took 25 hours is if I played it straight, otherwise it'd be a guess at best and it'd be really inaccurate.

steam keeps track of your play times for each game.

Wow I never knew that. Thanks zinfamous.
yeah, it's right above the play button for each game. hard to miss, lol.

It's not always accurate though. Steam thinks I beat Dark Messiah in 3 hours, and Jade Empire in 7 minutes.

lol.

also, I spend much of that "play time" with the game running in the background. ....at least, that's what I tell myself when those numbers get higher and higher. 🙁

What is the point of preloading data when the game requires you to "update" the entire 7.5 gigs before playing? Seriously... am I the only one who got fucked? I went out of my way to get it yesterday and pre-load, and it's like I didn't download anything.

It's times like this I wish I didn't go digital with everything I buy. If I bought retail I might be playing by now assuming THAT data didn't need "updating" as well. I wonder if this is the same issue people were having with The Witcher 2.

?

It should just decrypt the data. By memory I think it takes 5 minutes or so.

In my defense, I just didn't consider people were using Steam. I've seen hours estimates for things like Modern Warfare 2 single player and yes, I know that's available on Steam but when I think of it, I think of a console so that's why I was confused.

didnt read much of the thread, but read elsewhere forums that everything is brown and so far not many were very happy with the game overall.
Mine's ready to play on steam but i may wait a few months for patches and mods to work out the kinks.

Steam screwed up. i have had this happen to me before (and when you have a 17GB a month D/L cap like me, you get really screwed). It did not D/L the game into a folder.

ALWAYS check to make sure the D/L is actually being saved to a temp folder. Usually in Steam Apps

Nope, it's redownloading the whole thing from scratch.

You're not the only one. It did it to me too. Last night I downloaded about 4 GB of it and then paused the download, cleanly exited Steam, and shut down Windows. This morning I thought it'd resume but instead it started from scratch. I am on a 3Mb connection so 7GB is not a trivial download.

Where are you getting 7GB ?

Mine shows 8.48GB
😵

Always check to make sure that Steam is *really* D/L'ing to the folder.

The mouse movements seem... mushy. It appears as if the X sensitivity is always twice that of the Y sensitivity when both are set the same in the menu. Not only that, but it appears as if they implemented mouse smoothing by default.

I was just going to ask about this, as I read the same complaints in the Eidos forum. These are also the same complaints from the press build as mentioned in the PC Gamer preview some months ago, which apparently was never fixed. It seems like the controls are the biggest complaint I've seen so far (of course controls are a rather huge deal to me and many others), the aforementioned mouse issues, combined with various controls being toggles with no options to make them held keys and vise versa.
