Being in Soul form (dead) is actually better than being in Body form. It allows you to die without having to worry about world tendency shifts. Manipulating World Tendency is another facet of this game.

So if you are dead and you die, do you still lose all your souls and stuff you have collected? I understand that if you are alive and you die you have one chance to get back to your body before losing everything. Does this still aspect apply when you die as a soul?

Yup, you still lose all your souls in the form of a bloodstain you can try and reclaim... just like in body form. However, as was mentioned, when you die in soul form it doesn't affect your world tendency. World tendency can be white or black, and certain items can only be had if the tendency is a certain way.

you lose the souls (money/XP) you've earned, but you don't lose the loots (swords, etc)

btw if you leveled up, you dont lose the level, so i usually use up all the souls before going to a new level

The more I play this game the more I like it. At face value, it is a simple hack and slash, but it has so much more depth. I am glad I picked it up when I got my PS3; only $40 new too.

ok I got this and I have a few questions:

1) Why does nearly half the comments I see on the ground say "I'm in trouble, please recommend this message"?

2) Can I just quit the game at any time? If I do this where do I start from? If I kill an entire castle of guys and turn it off and then turn it back on do I have to kill everybody over again?

3) What are these "enter the fog" doors I see.

4) How do I level up?

5) Is there any reason why the nexus has so many stairs? I didn't find anything up stairs.

I think that's it for now.

1) If you recommend a message, I believe it heals whoever left the message.

But I pretty much never recommend useless messages (such as your example).

2) Yes, you can quit the game at any time. You don't have to go to the nexus (and shouldn't). Everything will remain as it was. In fact, it is going to the nexus (exiting that world) that causes enemies to respond.

3) Fog doors just separate zones. The enemies behind them one attack you until you enter, and once you enter the fog door is forever gone.

The important fog doors are the ones that lead to bosses.

4) Collect souls (which act as currency) and use them to upgrade your stats (strength, vitality, etc). The black maiden (chick with the candlestick in the nexus) is the one who increases your stats, but she won't do it until you beat the first level of the first world (1-1).

Souls can also be used to buy items, repair weapons and armor, and buy spells, so you have to choose what you want to use them for.

5) The nexus is unecessarily complex, but it adds to the atmosphere of the building. There are some things upstairs, such as NPCs that come to the nexus as you find them in-game. There are also some hidden items, and at the very top is a leaderboard that shows all the top characters.

Thanks for the response.

This game is seriously cool. It has a feeling about it like no other game I have ever played. I am the kind of guy who quick saves and quick loads every 5 seconds if something doesn't go the way I want. I have to totally change my play style and really slow down in this game. I've been playing for about 3 hours and I haven't really made any progress yet cause I died when I had a few thousand souls because I was in a rush to get back to my bloodstain, and I don't even care!

the first few level is the hardest. if possible, try to complete the first level of every world first, it will be easier. I make the mistake of killing tower knight before i move on to the other world, took me forever lol

Tower Knight actually wasn't too bad if you make sure and kill all the archers first. It's almost too easy if you can find somebody who dropped a stone to help out.

1-1, 1-2, 2-1, and 3-1 aren't too bad really. 4-1 is quite hard when you're starting out, but has a lot of souls. If you can be patient and get through this level it's a great one to grind early for souls. There's also some really good items there too. You don't even have to get all the way to the boss. For a while I'd just run through the map until I had enough souls to level up some, then I went back to the Nexus and did it again.

4-1 was really good for souls, but 4-2 is WAY better if you have a bow because you're almost entirely out of danger half way through. I farmed 4-2 in pure black for quite awhile.

I haven't even started to think about the pure black/white stuff. I know there are certain items that require certain tendency to get, but I haven't even bothered.

4-1 and 4-2 are both great for souls.

4-2 becomes the best after the first playthrough if you get the maiden's soul and get the instant kill spell.

Yeah Gorcorps you really shouldn't worry about tendancy on your first playthrough. If you decide to do it more than once then worry about it.

Haha I accidentally came across the tower knight as well. I was following a blue phantom and really had no idea what I was doing. I followed him across the freakin' great wall of china with the dragon above and when we reached the end he died. I walked through the fog and BAM there is a giant knight coming down on me. I ran around trying to get his feet and taking serious damage by the archers. Eventually I realized I could take out the archers up stairs and then use my soul arrow to hit the knight in the face from the safety of the upstairs area. I got him real quick once I figured that out. I was human form and was really worried about dying again but I was pretty happy I made it.

Then I went into the prison area and got killed by the first octopus face monster I encountered about 2 minutes later 🙁.

Also, I can't really figure out what skill points I'm supposed to be purchasing. I'm a royal and I want to use magic but I also want to to stay competitive with a sword and shield.

That's part of playing an RPG is the choice. Check out the Demon's Souls wiki for character builds to see if there's anything specific you like, but personally nothing there has really stood out to me.

guys what's that skill or weapon that will give you guy an aura thing that looks like a thin flim of lightnings surrounding your body

well warding i have, it's more like bubbles, but i saw this black phantom with sword and shield charged at me while it seems that he's electrical charged. it might have been a miracle...

Miracle from the Demon Storm King's Soul
Generates a field around the user that prevents magic from being used.

This miracle represents the power of God against tremendous malice. It is one of the greatest miracles, aiding all who are righteous.

Man I can't believe how addicting this game is. My character used to be so weak but I finally got some items that makes me a force to contend with.

A few days ago I got invaded a few times and got slaughtered. I also tried invading like 4 different games and died each time, twice from falling to my death and twice I was killed.

Now I got second chance, which has saved me a few times already. I also use the beast of the talisman and got homing soul arrow and upped my moon uchigatana to 5+.

Yesterday I was just fooling around on level 1-4 and got invaded twice back to back. The first guy I hit the guy with poison cloud and just ran away from him. He caught up and backstabbed me. Luckily I had second chance active so I dived away, hit homing soul arrow and that took him out immediately. About 2 minutes later I was invaded by somebody else. I used the same strategy on him. Hit him with poison cloud and sprinted away as fast as I could. When I was pretty far away I turned around and noticed his health level was already half way gone. I stood at the bottom of the stairs and hit homing soul arrow and just stood there as he ran towards me. When he got a little closer the arrows all nailed him and killed him immediately.

Freakin' fun game. After spending the first few days just leveling up stuff that I felt like and having no real direction, I found the "spellsword" character at the wiki and realized my attributes were right on target for that, so I just decided to head towards that character.

Yeah, I picked this up for $39.99 a while back and it was worth it. I've got quite a few hours put into it. It is one of 3 PS3 games I have, and it is the most played by far. I recommend this for anyone who doesn't have high blood pressure; it can get frustrating at the starts, but remember dying holds almost no consequences, especially on the first playthrough.

I've only been invaded once, and I beat the guy (barely). We were both melee focused and it took a while as both of us kept managing to heal without getting hit. I have yet to invade anybody though... I don't think I've died since I got that stone though now that I think about it.

Dying holds no consequences? Losing your souls you've been saving up is a pretty big deal IMO regardless of what playthrough you're on.
