So how exactly do you invade? you can only do it in soul form correct? They aren't very clear on this mechanic in the game.

I think I can drop a blue eye stone under two conditions: if I get invaded, and before a boss fight. Is that it?

You can invade only in soul form by using the black stone. If you don't have the black stone yet, you will get it in 2-2. You can only get invaded as a human, so if you don't want to be bothered, play the game in soul form. Although its a bit hard since you don't have full health. You can also only drop a blue soul sign in soul form, and you can do it almost anywhere in a level. The only sign you can drop when your a human is the red soul sign. That's basically a duel and if you lose you lose a soul level

Well, unlocked the easy access lift for 2-1, which I suppose is the right order? go 1-1, 2-1 and so on?

Man the armored spider is kicking my ass. I manage to dodge the web the first couple times, but then it hits me and I die in only a few hits. I'm supposed to wait for the fire stream, then hit it, but it's hard to see where there is no flame when it fills the entire room.

edit: ah re4freak's video seems like a good way to do it.

Is the spider more vulnerable to piercing damage? I almost exclusively used the mail sword because the long sword could just not do any damage.

You can do them in just about any order you want with the exception that you can't advance to 1-3 without first defeating one of archdemon's at the end of one of the other worlds. However, you may find that some of the worlds are more difficult than others. In general I think world 2, Stonefang Tunnel, is easier than the others. So if you find, for example, world 4-1 to be on the tough side, I'd recommend going back to world 2 and just finishing it out completely first. In my own game I did 1-1, 1-2 and then all of world 2 before moving to 3-1.

Have fun grinding for pure bladestone.

(Unless you've already done that)

I agree, though. DS is by far my favorite game this gen. It blows any other game I've played out of the water.

Yeah I still don't have 1 and I've farmed a lot of soul levels off those guys

I got the pure bladestone from the dual katana guy in the secret passage in 4-2. I had pure black world tendency and the LSoS. It took maybe 30-40 runs to get it

So, when and where do you get to "level up"? I beat the first section and was brought back to life, but I'd like to see how far I am from being able to level up or something.

After you defeat the world 1-1 boss there should be a new NPC in the Nexus called "The Maiden in Black". Talk to her and that's where you can buy soul levels or just see what the next soul level will cost.

Sword of Searching works against you, but yea 4-2 secret passage katana is the best place to farm for it.

works against? It worked great for me when trying to get pure moonlightstone and all I was getting were shards. It also helped me farm spiderstone from the fist miners in 2-1. If I wasn't using the LSoS I would get maybe 1 shard per run. When I equipped the LSos I would get 1-3 per run

So whatsup with the section in boletaria 1-1, right before the main stairs and to the left downwards. I went down and 3 things appeared in front of me. I ran the fuck away like a sissy afterwards. Didn't want to have to regain my body again. Pain in the ass that is. I think using blue phantom and trying to help someone fight tower knight is probably the best bet for that. He's extremely easy.

I actually had someone help me with that as there were a bunch of stones, and I said why not? heh. I gave them an S rating, I think that's the best.

Trying now to get 22 strength for the purple flame shield before I take on flamelurker.

What if I killed her? I was just messing aroudn after I beat the 1-1 boss and swinging my claymore and a hard hit landed near her head. She died =(

Well, she sure took a dirt nap after I finished whacking her. Maybe she got up later and walked it off, but I didn't see her when I was messing aroudn at lunch.

Oh well, lost my like 12k souls I had saved up anyway thanks to some lame ass Dragon flying over random walkways spitting fire...

You can kill her temporarily, but she'll reappear later.

[edit] BTW, be careful using weapons in the Nexus. You got lucky in that she does come back. The other NPCs do not and even if you don't actually kill them they can become hostile toward you and will remain that way until you finish the game and start over. For some it wouldn't matter, but you wouldn't want Stockpile Thomas or one of the NPCs that teaches spells/miracles to become hostile... at least not this early on.

1-2? Heh, that sucks, but I just farm the red eye knight in 1-1. Easy.

Damn, this game brings back memories. I played enough to get plantium, 5 pure bladestones farmed in my free time.

I believe I put in like ~300 hours into this thing. Had to sell my copy off so I wouldn't get drawn back into making new builds again.

That spot is an area for a fight with an NPC. Outside the yard are minor black phantom versions of the slaves you fight in 1-1.

Don't want to spoil it for you if that's a concern. Use the demons soul's wikidot page for some pointers.

Here's a tip for those of you using shields or builds for a specific reason. When you 2hand a weapon, your STR is multiplied by 1.5. Thus, you can get away with lower stat allocation if your intention is to 2h it only (Yes, you can 2h shields).

For example, PFS requires 22 str. If you just pump up STR to 15, *1.5 2handed = 22(.5) str. The same concept works with 2handing weapons.

Hey, did you save or kill Ostrava in 1-2? I'd hate for you to miss out on that key like I did.

Saved him. I was worried he wouldn't appear, but he did so no worries.

edit: those damn bug things in 2-2 really annoy me. Takes ages for me to kill them. Gonna just try to level a few more times. I now have a great axe though so 😀. 26 strength to use it so 🙁. I'll probably two hand it if I need to though. Got myself knocked down by those bearbug things and had to be a blue phantom and beat tower knight to get my body back. Man, I want to invade peoples.

What is the best level to do as a noob trying to gain a few levels and some freaking armor? I have no armor and the NPC who sold some in 1-1 is gone. I might have killed him, but don't remember.

The 4-2 reaper gives you ~6k souls in less than 30 seconds on the first playthrough. Just run up to the platform shoot him a few times with the bow, run back jump off the cliff and repeat. Just remember to pick up your souls before jumping off the cliff again.

Your NPC is probably in 1-2 now if you beat the first shield boss. He's under the bridge in 1-2.

Armor is kind of overrated in this game, it's mostly for aesthetics. First game it might make a difference, but later on armor is useless and for graphics only. Many have stamina penalties, that reduce your stamina regen - especially the plate armors.

Go completely nude and watch your stam regen if you are a knight/armored class to see what I mean.

Thats what the eternal warriors ring is for 😉
