this pretty much sums it up.
anyone asks for help, they get called a noob or lambasted for making a bad decision, eg that airline thread a while back where they just gave the OP crap for not getting a refundable ticket.
anyone offers an opinion different then them, they get a one liner drive by response that doesnt explain why they vehemently disagree or fail to see opposing views (obama is a communist, $5 jeans > diesels, etc)
anyone has a good story, someone posts tl;dr
i can go on...
but there are alot of good topics and stories that come up on this board and it's why i stick around. i like to think of myself as being a helpful person on here, i can be critical but i normally give my reasons

you were complaining about everything being a repost or similarly a repeat. so i said you only have sex once and then call it good? like you can't have a repeat of something and want to do/see/read about it again? some things are better the second, third, fourth time around. not all reposts are undesirable.
Maybe the threads where 2 or 3 members just go back and forth (mosh/IBS in this thread for example) makes people run away from threads?

I'm not saying that but you asked the question whats wwrong with the forum. My response was its been saturated. The second time its prob still fresh. By the 3rd and 4th....gets old. You tired of michael jackson threads yet? Or nice guy vs. asshole debates? or nothing like a good gun or religious debate.

How about adding "Troll" to user descriptions, so newbies know whom to avoid? :evil:
The use of AT-specific sayings (e.g. YAGT, bulk beef, spider) probably alienates newbies too.

2 problems with I see with this:
If someone posts something serious they get 10 joke posts to 1 serious post. Gets old quit fast and no one is going to want to deal with that.
For example If someone posts asking were the best place to get pool balls the next several posts will would look something like this
1. In my pants.
2. I got a lot of balls!
3. Are your balls striped or solid?
4. How many balls you need cause it sound like you need a lot of balls.
5. Do you have a couple of balls already?
6. Pics?
6. Blab blab blab blab
7. Then you get a real answer.
The second problem is the best trolls got ban.
Those trolls were funny and more interesting then the normal people here.
The troll threads generated a lot of traffic but hay they needed to go because someone got offended.

derek? he is about as usefull as tits on a bull when it comes to users on the forum.
they tell you to go to him if you have a problem with a mod. say one gets a stick up there ass and bans you for a week. you are sopposed to contact Derek about it. sure..great.
he never gets on. never looks at it. never talks to you BEFORE the damn ban expires.
so i question what hte point of it is?
but anyway. this thread is just going to go like all the rest. when people actually talk about the issues they get banned then the tread gets locked.
so there is no POSSIBLE way to have a honest discussion about it. anyone that read "change of colture" should know that.

sadly, i agree with you. i think Derek has good intentions, but not the time, or the care, for this place?
well, even if we make no progress here, it's good to talk about these things and know we realize this place is tanking.

I think combining some of the subforums would be a good idea. I still enjoy it here, but maybe my idea of ATOT entertainment/enjoyment is different than a lot of others.
