so, are you guys in yet? any luck downloading stuff? i'm sitting here trying to join a server, using friends(instant messanger thing) talking to a few people, and it tells me it will be ready to play in 111 minutes.

So the steaminstall.zip is only the client to download the actual upgrade, right?

If so, has anyone gotten the upgrade yet? If you can get it to me, I can host it for everyone else.

Well, it downloaded to a folder in c:\program files\steam\ but there's only the installer and no other .exe - so I dunno how the EFF to get it started.

i was in the etg counterstrike channel a few hours ago when this link was spammed. at that time, it had not been released and soon an OP came over and stated that that file was a "fake" i guess and contained a trojan. i dont know whether this is true or not. but have fun~

I was just able to finally connect to the network, created my account, and now it says that it is updating Counter Strike and as soon as it is done updating, I can play.

EDIT: Now it says ready to play in approximately 212 minutes.

They're only releasing the beta like this, probably to test their steam servers again... final version will be released with the wizard installer
