It seems to me that the AK is in fact already the most accurate assault rifle in the game... first shot only of course.
From bullet number 2 and on, all hell breaks loose :p

... as far as the flaws in the game, the T's ABSOLUTELY NEED A BETTER DEFAULT PISTOL.
Increasing the damage of the glock by a little is not good enough. They need the P228 as the default pistol.
I join CT's 95% of the time just because it has the USP.
And when I join T's, I always buy a deagle.

I also don't like the idea of not knowing who's remaining on the opposing team.
That totally changes strategy...

"One of the interesting changes in 1.6 is that you can no longer see how many people are living or dead on an opposing team when you're still alive. This change should make for some highly suspenseful matches and will undoubtedly cause players to play more conservatively in long matches since there can be no way of knowing how many opponents remain. "

Hmm. Not sure I like the sound of that because I often base my tactics on the number of remaining opposing players. Glad the CTs finally have a low cost assault rifle though.

ur crazy....the glock is already dominating when used appropriotely.....i always join T cuz i love the glock....if CT's start w/ the five seven, then i'd join CT....i just like moving around like insane and shooting @ the head...that's all u need..and now they made the glock stronger?...it's total domination from here on out for T's...

i actually like the new idea of who's remaining...it's changes things.....it's like how America's Army game has it....very interesting...

i like how one can be using the scope and strafe side to side at full speed while having the gun aimed perfectly even on the horizontal plane...

i dont care for campers... if anything, change the nature of the awp for realistic reasons... ie have the aim stabilized only when crouching or otherwise in stationary position for a long time... take note from castle wolfenstein

The riot shield is definitely pro CT and will definitely change the way CTs can defend some areas. However, I don't think it will change a lot about the game, but it can certainly change some choke points on maps (namely de_dust). The Ts get a pretty good rifle for $2000 in this release, so there isn't a lot to complain about with CS 1.6 for the Ts. However, the only way to hurt someone with the riot shield is using HE grenades -- IF the riot shield user isn't moving. As long as you are still with the riot shield, you are protected, as soon as you move, you're bait.

With the advent of Steam, Valve can tweak CS any way they like, at any time. Think the riot shield is too powerful? Send down an update to let some damage come through. Think the he nades aren't powerful enougn? Send down an update and watch people spam them all over. With Steam, people can obtain small updates easier and faster and without a large download or wait again.

The only thing I am afraid of is how Valve will tweak CS once most gamers have moved to Steam. Think of the power Biizzard has with its realms. They think a class is too powerful? They nerf it. The same can go with a gun, speed, etc. Steam will have its advantages, but there could easily be a time when Valve's tweaks aren't what most CSers enjoy.

Lastly, expect an end to the current version of CS. I'm betting that CS 1.5 will be the "final" version and Valve will stop supporting or updating VAC. They want people to move to steam and will do whatever it takes to get people onto that system. Once enough people are playing CS on steam, expect a final "death blow" from Valve.

It's been mentioned in this thread... the AWP (running while zoomed) is the biggest

you'll have to download the Steam 2.0 beta to get this...it won't be posted on any website. Either way I think the target release is about 2 PM EST

I want to run both the beta 1.6 and the 1.5 version on the same machine...will this take two independent HL installs to accomplish? Anyone got a clue on how to do this? I don't know if they share registry settings or what.

I think we need a list of servers when this thing gets released.

I'm gonna rename the folder in which cstrike resides in, so hopefully that works.. :(

Good idea...that may be the solution. My other option is to install it on my other machine with the widescreen HDTV monitor...I think the new beta supports 16:9 displays.

I someone can get me a copy, I'll host a HELLA-fast connection to it. I just have to get it.... I have plenty of room and it would be hosted over multiple T3s...

Changed so the bomb defuser gets three frags for successfully defusing the bomb.
Changed so when bomb goes off, the player that planted the bomb gets three frags.
Changed so live players don't see enemy deaths in the scoreboard.

Those should change the game considerably. Not knowing how many people are left will be strange. Also, now there is actually a point to planting the bomb. (many people who only care about their score will not chance planting and will just go get kills, now they will)

The thing is, I don't think its going to be something that someone can just send you a copy of. I think it can only be installed through Steam, which limits where you can get it from. Unless you install a Steam 2.0 beta server I don't think you can host the files.

Someone in my CS clan posted the suggestion that once you see a person's body on the ground, they should show up as dead in your scores list. That way you only know if someone's dead by getting a visual confirmation. Otherwise you're gonna have people screaming on voice chat as they get shot to let their teammates know. That might get annoying fast.

The planting the bomb thing will definitely change the game. It amazes me that people go for just kills still....you actually get a lot of money for planting the bomb. More than you would for just invidiually killing all the guys. Most people don't bomb until all their teammates are dead and they have no choice.

The galil will unbalance the game. Near M4 accuracy, near AK power, and 35 round maganize. All for $2000. FAMAS sounds worthless, and riotshield will only be good for cannonfodder. Can it even stop a rifle round?
