Treadmill Walking

3.4mph for 30 minutes

Notes
I checked my blood pressure today. 115/73 with a 56 heart rate. Nice to know that I'm still in decent health despite being considered obese (with visible abs) by the Body Mass Index.

When you say 250x5x1 does that mean 5 singles or 5 reps one set? I'm assuming the later but just wanted to see.

Treadmill Walking

3.1mph for 30 minutes

Notes
Feet did not bother me at all, so it is just a muscular endurance issue. I'm playing with the speed to see what difference there is in my recovery. At this point in time, the treadmill walking is just an effort to make my legs and back fresher for my training sessions. I'm not too worried about my cardio capacity since I am getting through all my training sessions at a pretty decent pace. Plus, I checked my blood pressure again this morning and it was 113/70 at 52bpm.

A good day. Squats felt strong. The bar felt relatively light when I was unracking it on the 400lb sets. Decided to set a bench PR. Went up nice and easy. I spent a bit of time socializing, so my total session time was a bit long, but that's OK.

If I drop much bodyfat, I'll look like a bodybuilder. From what I've heard, that can lead to walking around in bikini briefs and slathering sunless tanner all over your body. I don't think I could handle that.

Well, I was kidding anyway, but are you trying to say that there's something wrong with wearing bikini briefs?

I was going to go longer, but I was watching Comedy Central and "Mind of Mencia" came on and I didn't have the remote. I hate that guy.

Notes
I forgot my chalk at home. Again. No chalk + sweaty hands + calluses that need to be filed down = there was going to be some bleeding if I tried to continue. I have also noticed that when my grip is bad, my form breaks down. So, I decided to make this a deload day of sorts and avoid an injury.

I bumped up my training max on bench to 300. Every set except for the last 150x12 was on a two minute interval.

Congrats on the new bench PR a few days ago.

How's your blob training going? I did (well, attempted) some plate pinches as you suggested, it was laughable.

Notes
There is an arts festival going on right by my gym this weekend and I was concerned about parking later (god-damned parking spot poachers) in the day, so I showed up at 10:00AM. This was the first time I had been to the gym prior to 5:00PM in months. It feels nice to get my training session out of the way. Plus, many powerlifting meets have their squat flights starting at 10:00AM on Saturday mornings. I might make a habit out of coming in early on Saturdays.

I'm not really sure how much carryover I get out of my belt, but it has to be at least 5+%. The belted reps with 85% felt easier than my 80% reps without the belt. I thought about doing the 85% sets beltless, but I remembered how hard the second round of squats were four weeks ago and decided to leave a little in the tank. The second round wasn't nearly as difficult this time around.

Thanks.

It isn't. I've been good about my powerlifting training, but have not done any grip specific training in weeks.

Notes
Squats went pretty well. No belt. All squat work sets on three minute intervals. I gave myself three minutes on the last 5 bench press sets. Everything went up pretty easily. I added a longer pause on the last rep of most of the bench sets. At the end of the session, my left hip flexor felt a bit tight, so I skipped the hanging leg raises.

Notes
Felt pretty darn good today. No belt. I gave myself 3 minute intervals on the bench press and 5 minute intervals on the deadlift work sets. Unlike two weeks ago, no real grinders on the deadlifts. Everything went up nice and snappy. I lowered the weight on the barbell rows by 5% because I didn't like my form the last time I did them. They were much cleaner this time.

Nice deads, the Sheiko routines really seem to agree with you huh?

Have you always trained alone? I have this vague notion that to get to an elite level (I perceive your squat and deadlift strength to be elite anyway) you have to train with others, but it seems like you just do your own thing.

I took my blood pressure again today. It was 111/65 @ 54bpm. Who needs cardio?

EliteFTS was having a "free shipping" special, so I ordered myself a copy of "Supertraining" and "Facts and Fallacies of Fitness."

They are working pretty well thus far.

I've almost always trained alone. There has been the occasional time when a roommate or friend came to the gym with me, but it never seems to last.

Meh. My right quad was feeling a bit tight on Tuesday, and I didn't give it enough attention this week (i.e. none). The first work set went fine, but my quad didn't feel quite right when I unracked the bar (slight twinge) and when I finished the rep, my leg was hurting a bit, so I racked the weight. I might've been able to put my belt on and push through the rest of the sets, but I decided to call it a day. This was pretty frustrating, but I think it was the right thing to do.

There isn't any residual pain, and zero swelling or bleeding, so I think that the muscle is just knotty and tight. Nothing some active release, stretching, and extra pre-training warm up can't fix.

I must be cheating on my form on rows. I put 190x5x5 on Friday, but all of my other lifts are not even close to yours, especially my deadlift is 50% of yours and my best bench is only 190x5.
