is there some cultural thing that Asians have where it's offensive to park in front of a house you're not visiting?

I get annoyed when people park in front of our house. Once, our neighbor's friend parked their car right in front of our house. So I took one of our cars and parked it in front of her car, and I took another car and parked it right behind the car. That way someone would have to knock on our door to ask us to get out.</blockquote>

That's just plain stupid.....

No it isn't.

Great story, OP. If I were you, I would almost be angry but the hilariousness of the whole situation would bring more amusement than anger.

Large glass bottle
fill 1/2 with motor oil
fill 1/2 with gasoline
Put cap on
Shake well
Tie gas soaked rag around the neck of the bottle
Light gas soaked rag
Quickly throw at neighbors house hard enough to break glass bottle
Run

Problem solved.

!!!!!!!!! NEARLY SAME THING HAPPENED TO US!!!

Our family threw a BBQ and so some of our guests had to park infront of the house next to us, the neighbors went all nuts about parking on "private property", and get this, THEY CALLED The cops on us!!! LOL, but of course they had nothing, they did try to pull a fast one at the last minute infront of the cop about "noise" after he said it was ok for guests to park on the curb infront of hteir house, but that didn't work for them either because yeah...abunch of middle-aged pple getting together to eat(no alcohol present either) on a Sunday afternoon.

Only difference was that our nieghbors weren't Asian, they were White, hahaha, whatever though. Silly people all over, I guess it's expected that some people new to this country don't know their right's(for the good or bad), but when you have people who have been here for generations pulling that crouchy annoying crap, thats another story...

Props to the OP, you kept your cool and handled the situation splendidly. =]</blockquote>

Yeah, Viets, Czechs, or Krazy Kazakhs... they should all read up on law and the concept of public property before making themselves look like total arses 😉

Czechs? I'm czech born and raised and I've never seen anyone imply that street is their property... either there or the US

No. In parts of Boston, folks of different races act the same way. Usually, they put a cones in front of their house so no one can park.

L O L
WOW thats great you got the cops there to yell at them so if they do something to your car, you can always use that against them.
good auido and pics!

we have several big parties here in san antonio during April called Fiesta. during one of the events - the St Mary's University Oyster Bake - we parked in front of a frat house .

they came out and tried to charge us to park there. we (3 big dudes) told them this is a city street and anybody was allowed to park there... they backed off pretty quickly and the car wasn't touched when we got back

Someone parked in front of our (fraternity) house one time, and refused to move. We just picked up the car (an 80s model trans am) moved it into the street, and called the cops, telling them someone left their car in the street. The tow truck was along in short order. 😀

i received a few PMs asking for an update... but there really isn't anything to add. I left the state, live in CO now, and haven't had to deal with any crazies recently 🙂
