The US is a representative democracy, period. The two are completely separate since being a "constitutional republic" says fuck all about the system of government.

DPRK (North Korea) is a constitutional republic as well.

Wiki seems to disagree with you:

"A constitutional republic is a state where the chief executive and representatives are elected, and the rules are set down in a written constitution.

The head of state and other representatives are elected but they do not have uncontrolled power. What their power is limited to is written in the constitution. If there is dispute about what the constitution means, this is decided by a court system that is independent from the representatives.

Constitutional republics usually have a separation of powers. The separation of powers means that no single officeholder gets unlimited power. John Adams said that a constitutional republic was "a government of laws, and not of men".[1]

Could it be that BOTH of you are right? That the US could realistically be called BOTH "constitutional republic" AND "representative democracy"?

This binary wisdom is getting out of hand.....LOL

Rand Paul says Democrats are stealing elections by getting people to cast legal votes and then counting those votes.

No worries – the Republicans are making it their mission to put a stop to that practice!
That is one of the most asinine statements I've seen in a while. WOW! I'm pretty much Twitter free in my normal life, so thanks for sharing.

Oh yeah?
Then why do those Americans consistently vote for the bad guys?
It's become so incredibility insane.

It's a VERY curious thing. It seems SO obvious; but there IS a real answer.

Great example is Obamacare. Back in the day, polls would show that something like twice as many people were in favor of the "ACA" as were of "Obamacare". They were of course the same thing. This is MY interpretation, but it sure seems that it would be almost exclusively to BIAS. In this case, again in my experience, due to incessant propaganda from the GOP against it, of course with at least SOME racism thrown in directed at the first black man to ever be president.

It shows the danger of propaganda; it can make people vote against their own best interest. Now when you realize that marketing and advertising have become a near religion in the US, with Steve Jobs as the Messiah, a population CHAINED to their TVs through Sports if nothing else, you realize it's a people PRIMED for propaganda, played like a fiddle.

'k so since North Korea is also a constitutional republic I suppose their chief executive and their representatives are elected. DDR (I'm German so this is closer to home) was also a constitutional republic. So is China. It has FUCK ALL to do with the system of government in reality and everyone but you understands that.

No? Well that kinda ruins that entire idea?

I said it's both you fucking maroon, that was my POINT. If you could read instead of frothing over getting back at me from past failures of Q-tardness you displayed then perhaps you'd be attentive enough to note that?

The US is a representative democracy, period. That was what I said, my point stands.

Wow, a little testy huh? That's hilarious: "frothing"!

I was simply responding to your statement, which as I read it back, still says :"being a "constitutional republic" says fuck all about the system of government. "

If that was your subtle way of implying it's both, then yes I misunderstood. I'm not sure how ANYONE could get that from what you wrote though and I don't think my response was unreasonable.

Now your rabid response on the other hand shows clearly who the one is that is frothing here.

Dude, you called me a liar for saying something that was CLEARLY the truth. I thought it pretty classless and bizarre, but I'm WAY over it. I don't even KNOW you, why would I be upset about what you call me? It goes for so many on this crazy forum; all the NAME CALLING is completely out of hand.

Further more, just because some evil country CALLS ITSELF something it isn't, it doesn't mean that OUR term for a certain system is invalidated, so NO, it doesn't "ruin that entire idea".

It would be like saying that because Kenny G calls himself a "Jazz" artist, the term Jazz has no meaning in describing musical styles.

Again, I'm correct on that given that the DDR, China, North Korea and the US are all or were all constitutional republics. Do you think they have the same form of system of government? Are you so fucking stupid that you can't admit you are wron.... Oh wait, I have had a discussion with you before and you are just that stupid.

You know what you should do, you should whine more about how those IN THE FUCKING FIELD not agreeing with your layman crap. It would really help.

Now fuck off.

Here's the deal you fucking moron. The US is a representative democracy, that is the form of government. It is also a constitutional republic but that has nothing what so fucking ever to do with the system of government, that is the institution of the republics legal system.

I get it, you're 'murican and don't understand the US system as well as us Germans do, it's no surprise given the state of your education system.

Wow, so testy. Anyway, wiki says:

"A republic (from Latin res publica 'public affair') is a form of government in which "supreme power is held by the people and their elected representatives". ... With modern republicanism, it has become the opposing form of government to a monarchy and therefore a modern republic has no monarch as head of state. "

I don't know where you get off calling me names again, but I don't see how my understanding of the word "republic" as being a form of government is unusual or wrong. What the hell man?

I'm not even sure where to begin on this one, but sure, you could say that they were all at some point some form of it. Of course they were and are not the same, and as soon as there are no more real elections, or the separation of powers breaks down, they would NOT classify as such anymore.

Again, it's this all or nothing mentality. It's bizarre. And again name-calling.

I can't work out if that's deliberate irony (on Rand Paul's part) or if he actually means that. If he means it sincerely it's utterly bizarre. I would hope it was tongue-in-cheek, like my past complaints about England being knocked out of the World cup by dastardly foreigners employing the underhand, cheating, tactic of 'being better at football than England is'.

Those cheating Germans - winning by playing better and scoring more goals than we did. What kind of low-down sneaky tactic is that?

It's one of the stupidest things an American politician has said in a WHILE, and there have been some candidates ;-) Or a brilliant troll.... who knows....

You'd be taken more seriously if you could present your opinions without all the rage and personal attacks. It comes across as very immature. Having a tantrum over such a simple thing simply isn't necessary.
I reported you for your responses to eikelbijter. The fellow expressed an opinion and explained his reasoning, there was simply no reason to attack him for it.

So should poor personal hygiene, another topic that has nothing to do with my comment.
I find the keyboard tough guy act to be childish and cowardly. It's pointless. No one in the history of the internet has ever thought "that guy is so angry he must be right".

It's easy to be relaxed when you've deluded yourself into thinking that you are benefitting from the current corruption.

If you're not familiar with the absolute spectacle that is Christian Walker, the gay son of Hershel Walker, I invite you to seek it out.

It's... something.

And yet they massacred the Democrats in a high turnout election in Virginia a month and a half ago.

So? November is a long ways away and the dems (if they are smart) have a laundry list of things they will start releasing as the elections near. Exposing these traitors now would be playing into their hands. There were crimes committed by members of congress and the sitting President. These will be presented soon enough. Even the dems can't fuck this up. They surely need a better PR department. I will grant you that.
