We all can thank the Repub controlled Supreme Court for allowing this shit to happen. Biden and the Dems really need to get Manchin on board with the Voting Rights Advancement Act soonest in order to restore some integrity to the process of holding free and fair elections of which the Repubs are systematically dismantling and repurposing into a mockery similar to what Russia, China, the DPRK and every other dictatorship have done.
 
I honestly don't think the sky is falling. The vast majority of Americans do not agree with the GOP's two top ticket items right now. Killing Roe v Wade and gutting voting rights.

The push back will come and it will bury the GQP. They made their bed. Now they get to sleep in it. Just be ready to do more than just complain from behind your screens. Feet will have to hit the streets. When 10's of millions of Americans descend up DC, PEACEFULLY, and line the streets from miles and miles. Those activist judges and the criminal lawmakers will take notice.

I disagree. Once the GOP cements partisan control over the ability to vote AND the counting of the votes in enough states, it's all done for democracy in the US except for the singing of the fat lady. This is especially true when the Supreme Court is firmly controlled by (mostly young) GOP partisans-something that worries even GOP appointed Supreme Court Chief Justice.

IMO we are the closest to collapse of the US since the Civil War, and ironically we are doing it to ourselves for absolutely no valid reason.

Even with all the restrictions they are trying to put into place they are not wooing all the minority live birthers that are now the majority... more... and more... and more with every year.

Preaching to their dying choir will only keep them in power as the minority party for maybe 20 years? Without a large shift in minority attitudes towards a party that sees minorities as 'less than criminals' I'm not too worried about the USA. By 2040 there will be a tidal wave of new liberal voters ready to take back any power they have usurped. The vast majority won't stand to be ruled by the extreme rabid right wing minority. Yes it will be temporary.

One would wish this was really the case. But when 74 million looked past and still voted for the orange monkey, that is a sorry state this supposed greatest democracy in the world is.
 
I don’t agree with everyone’s extreme pessimism either. The GOP is literally and figuratively dying, clawing for their last vestiges of power and killing one another in the process. Younger generations will continue to shift more liberal. I still think DJT is the best thing that ever happened to the Democrats in the long run.
 
Conservatives have been fed a steady diet of lies, fabrications, fear and hate propaganda, hoax conspiracy theories and racist rhetoric since Nixon pulled off his racist southern strategy campaign decades ago and what we have now is that same ploy exponentially hyped to a ridiculous degree and all of it being done for the purpose of defeating a progressive increase in a demographic that sees the conservative racist ideology as a monster growing in strength that is a threat to their lives.

The biggest problem we now face is that the Repub leadership have decided to continuously ramp up their divisive hate and fear campaigns in response to an increasing number of folks that don't like what the Repubs are up to, rather than trying to be inclusive and adaptive to the needs of all the nation's peoples. Their strategy simply does not make sense in that it's totally self-defeating, yet it seems they are hard wired to keep that politically suicidal strategy of theirs in play.

They'd rather burn it all down and seize power in the mayhem and chaos they're fomenting rather than admit their racist supremacist campaign is backfiring on them and they should play nice for a change for the sake of unity and the strength that comes with it.
 
They have no reasons to play nice and until this is ‘solved’ Dems need to play the same game. They have to stop bringing a knife to a gun fight. The Repubs win the propaganda messaging hands down, they can create a false narrative and Dems fall for it every time.
Three former Generals from the Pentagon have said the next coup could be successful if we fail to take actions to prevent it. I just don’t know if we have enough time with the courts going as slow as molasses in January.

You underestimate their willingness to use violence or force to maintain their rule. Very, very easy for them to maintain"minority rule" indefinitely.

And votes don't matter anymore, especially when state legislatures can throw out the ones they don't like.

Best case scenario is that it will be like modern day Russia..."democratic" on the surface as long as you don't step out of line, but at least they aren't actively going after large swaths of the population or violently persecuting minorities. Not a great scenario but it could be 1000x worse - camps, forced labor, forced religious conversions, etc you get the point. Take what you can get in the coming years, I suppose. Won't be our generation or even the next that fixes it, though. Will take a long time to crawl out of this one.

Gave you a thumbs up, not because I echo your ideas but in approbation of your sentiments. What will happen I don't know, I'm not making any predictions. I fear congress falling to the Republicans, which would be a big problem. Losing the White House in 2024 would be something of a catastrophe on par with Trump putting the stink on the place 2016-2020. I'm not saying I agree with you but AM saying you better be right.

In theory, a black republican could steal black votes from a dem candidate, possibly even a black one like Warnok. Also, in this case, he's a popular black athlete. That's why they want to run him in a heavily black state. They want to split the black vote between Warnok and Walker, while the majority of the white vote goes to Walker because most white people in GA are conservative.

Whether the theory works for them in the end, I have no idea.

Beyond the small percentage of people who understand how we got here and where we are going, noone gives a shit. We are decades away from crap getting bad enough that the majority of people get pissed and hit the streets. Hopefully, it doesn't end up like Germany in the 30's.

Liberals have this flaw that makes them think that facts will sway the minds of "the other side" and that the "system/process works". Democratic leaders won't see the shit storm for how bad it is until it is too late. They will not change course.

The US population is the proverbial frog in a pot of water. Things will need to be really bad on a daily basis for them to react. No amount of political activism will get the dumbfucks to go out and vote the shitheads out of office

Unless the leaders take a different approach (i.e fuck Manchin), we are on a slow slide towards some bad shit. Your grandkids need to be ready for revolt.
