Contact Lenses

I have been wearing glasses since the 6th grade. I'm now almost done with 9th grade, and I am getting contacts for the first time on Thursday the 5th of May. I'm 15, and I live in CA. I was prescribed Acuvue 2 Advance w/ Hydraclear.

Does anyone wear Acuvue 2 Advance w/ Hydraclear? What do you think of them? Can you wear them for 1 week including sleep, like you can the Acuvue 2s?

I just found out that my insurance is VSP (Vision Service Plan). Does anybody know what they'll cover for contacts?

got contacts in 7th grade...my eyes are horrible (-7.5 contact lenses). I've been wearing Acuvue 2's ever sense and I like 'em.

My dad thing I wouldn't keep my eyes clean enough, but my mom knows I can, and she's taking me, not him. I hope this works out.

I use Accuvue 2s, and I sleep in them for months at a time 😛 My current pair has been in for at least two months 🙂 They're comfortable for me 🙂

funny, it was my mom who had no faith in me keeping them clean. try out the brand your doc recommends cause every eye is different.

ironically, i've started wearing my glasses more after 2 years of contacts. 1oz titanium frames rule.

I hope you're kidding...I don't think thats very good for your eyes at all.

I need to get contacts, or the light titanium frames. My current Govt issue frames are too heavy. Doing martial art workouts in them is a royal pain. 🙁

i started wearing glases in 6th grade and got contacts in 10th. never had problems with them. i take them out every time i go to bed. i cycle two pair at a time so they get maximum soak time.
of course I originally started doing that because my schedule only allowed for 20-25 hours of sleep a week and they were never in the solution long enough

Ha ha ha, yeah. I haven't taken my contacts out for about 3 months.

Wow, back from my appt. They recommened Acuvue Advanced for some reason...and I have to go back for a training appt.

AND

Its 1 whole month from now. We're considering changing doctors.

I wear acuvue 2s as well. I have Spectera as my insurance and I paid $80 for 1 yrs worth of 2 wk contacts. My doctor suggested getting the newer Acuvues since they're more breathable, thus more comfortable. I forget how much they are. I just know they were too expensive for me.

Been wearing contacts since I was 14. Recenly gave them up because I look better in glasses, and they're easier to put on in the morning, and I don't have to clean them (as much).

anyhow, i ended up going with acuvue advanced (hydraclear, whatever), and they're great. i never feel them in my eyes like i do with other contacts i've tried.

Acuvue Advanced w/ Hydraclean
WEAR SCHEDULE
* Daily wear
* Two week replacement recommended

Acuvue 2
WEAR SCHEDULE
* Daily wear for up to 2 weeks or continuous wear for up to six nights

Does this mean that you can't do continuous wear w/ the Acuvue Advanced, because thats what the doctor recommended.

They usually say you should avoid wearing contacts until you're 17 (my mom works at the optician in lenscrafters), but if you're gonna get them anyway, I suggest accuvue 2 or accuvue advance.

?You?re not old enough for contact lenses.?
Most eye care professionals report great results with young teens and contact lenses. The average age for teens to start wearing contact lenses is 13.

The doc. suggested Acuvue Advanced.

I wear Acuvue 2's. I always take them out at night to let my eyes breath. Heat/ac is starting to affect my eyes more 🙁

And life lesson. NEVER wear contacts on an airplane! I decided I wouldnt take them out when I flew to Europe,bad bad idea. lol 😛
