I started to watch the anime series last night and it was downright impossible unless you know Japanese. Trying to read sub titles takes away so much from the animation that I miss half of what is being said. Maybe there is a voiced English version?

I think it's only Japanese with subtitles. The movie, Kingsglave, has an English dub but not the series Brotherhood.

Kingsglaive is a holywood production and was animated to the English voice actors, good stuff. Keep it in English.

As for the game, the lack of subs on battle and vendor speech made it a huge handicap if I used Japanese speech. Also the characters in the world are quite diverse, while the Japanese cast is...not. It is to bad the lip sync is shiet for the English dub.

The lip sync is bad in any language. It's like they got lazy and didn't animate fully.

If you ask me it looks like much of the game was built with the PS3/360 in mind because of all the filters and post processing effects smearing the picture. Not to mention the character models not being up to par. I think they went in and retouched a lot of it that they could but didn't want to start from scratch with everything so there are some things that just look out of place to my eye.

It wouldn't be surprising if you'd need a GTX 1060 to run the game at high settings at 1080p at 60 FPS, and that costs nearly as much as a PlayStation 4 or Xbox One.

Oh I get that for sure. I just think there was room to work in a bit more visually.

Actually it isn't. There is actual context for the stuff he was doing or was shown in that video. They didn't even show any actual combat. Why do you think that is? Conan doesn't do these to show the game but to make a joke out of the newest games. Remember him crashing a helicopter into the strip club in gta5 or repeatedly talking to Yenifer in the witcher hoping for a racy dialog option? It's all for the comedy and nothing more.

This will be the future of final fantasy I think. Non linear game play with the combat being more action based. I am quite pleased with it. I think the main story line of the game could have been better presented and many of the side quests could use a bit more back story to go along with them though.

Agree. I'm done with the game. Don't have any desire to spend any more of my time on it. From the frame rate issues that make combat near impossible at times to the horrid voice acting, this is the worst FF game I've experienced.

The frame rate never makes the combat impossible. Not ever. That is a wild exaggeration that is flat out false. If you said the camera makes combat tough because it puts a wall or a bunch of trees in your face blocking the enemies I would agree with that complaint. If you hate the game just say so instead of making up things.

And you are not sitting in my living room. I get that you love to defend games like no other but give it a break. The game is giving me serious frame rate and lag issues.

But it's not twitch combat where every frame counts, either.

And a quick google search shows it's frame pacing, not the frame rate. And that on the Pro, lite mode is stable enough.

Im enjoying the game but its slow going. I really dig the battle system although atm I am trying to cope with the max health dropping likes rocks now while doing NORMAL battle. I have a feeling the rest of the game is going to be a never ending binge fest of elixirs. As for the life with a boy band... I try and go with it... if I reject it the game is going to suck. The driving segement is somewhat out of place when you are just doing nothing for 2 and 4 minute road trips, but at the same time you save travel time in the long run.

The abilities and magic are refreshingly simple after having to deal with overly complex class systems in fire emblem and bravely. Gives me time to master what I have.

The max health dropping is probably a side effect from daemons. They have the possibility of reducing your max health when you get hit. Luckily you always get enough elixers and healing items that it's not a problem. Actually that's one gripe I really have. The game goes out of its way to not let you die. There's near infinite supplies of curatives, rescuing party members etc. I will admit the game feels slow to get going, giving you little motovation. I found plenty to keep me occupied and I'm still going, even well into 90 hours now. Later on you will be able to fast travel between locations(or a parking spot close to it) and the travel may be more bearable, also when you get access to Chocobos it helps to avoid all the endless running in areas you can't access by car. I'm still upset every time I have to go to Galden Quay and run all the way from the parking spot to the restaurant area where the quests and hunts are acquired. I find that pretty annoying even still. The second 1/3 or so of the game, like chapter 9 and on fly by really quickly with the exception of chapter 13. There will just be so much happening at once and unfortunately a lot of it happens off screen and isn't explained. Lucky for us SE is adding more story to flesh out these spots for free in a future update. So at least we will be able to get an understanding of what happened.

It's actually on both consoles, not just the Pro. I own the pro and run the game on high resolution(for sharper textures and such). The frame pacing shows up at times but does not ever interfere with combat. I've done all the mega boss fights except the maze zones so far including Adamantoise and the special hunts with the legendary weapons and it wasn't ever a problem. The game may glitch out in other ways especially on Adamantoise and you'll fight with the camera positioning in certain areas, but it's not the frame rate or frame pacing that causes these things. if anything the major fights are trivial compared to some of the enemies you encounter in packs, especially in certain late game dungeons like Costlemark Tower. The biggest problem is how the camers will put a wall in your face instead of the game making it invisible when it's right in your field of view.

Man, good thing I took the advice in this thread and on the internet to watch Kingsglaive and Brotherhood. Not sure if I'd be confused right now or not, but it definitely added some worthwhile story for me. I just finished chapter 1 finally (haven't had much time), and with all the shots of stuff that was in Kingsglaive, I'd be confused as F if I didn't know what any of that was already.

As for Brotherhood, the subtitles took away absolutely nothing for me, and I enjoyed watching it. Now at least I have some idea of who each person is.

You are right. It's the frame pacing that's the issue. Also found that the game needs completely exited out of or there is some odd memory leak type issue when waking up from sleep. Even riding in the car is jerky as anything.

Wish I had more time to play, but unable to dedicate 60+ hours a week to a game like some others in the thread.

I notice the exact same issue where if you don't exit the game completely, waking up from sleep gives you a slow, stuttery mess. That's on a One S. And hey, I don't have video game dedication anymore either, I'm 8 hours in 😛

FFXV isn't like Red Dead, it's sort of an action-turnbased game (if you have played Knights of the Old Republic, it's something like that) but faster paced. It does have a few tedious quests, but what RPG game doesn't? I've played one where you had to go search for lost hearing aids for an old man in another game.

It's a good solid game but you have to be into RPG to like it.

Maybe it's my Mass Effect 3 PTSD making me twitch when I read this, but it makes my skin crawl that someone puts out a game so jacked it requires a DLC (paid or not) to fix the story. I personally can't see any excuse for them not making the story work in a game the first time. The fact it needs a DLC to "get an understanding of what happened" is so stupid I can't believe you use the phrase "Lucky for us". If anything SE is extremely lucky that it has players like yourself that put up with it.

I'll own misunderstanding what you said.. but this really comes across as they story is broken. Either way.. Unless they're adding a new level then it's a failure of the writing.
