Went to my Grand Rapids, MI CompUSA with my g/f at 5:30... about 40 people in line in front of me, and by the time the doors opened, a good 150+ total were in line. It was funny looking at all the people driving by 2-waying their wife/friend about how many people are in line, then they drive off. Manager guy comes out with vouchers for the eMachines computer for $299, ran out of those pretty quick, and that made 10 or so people leave the line behind me. Then someone else asked about the printer, and he said they sold out of those at 9:04 this morning, that made 20 people leave. Haha, people just cant read, as everything on the back of the flyer was the 3-day sale, started Friday at open that goes till Sunday.
They opened the doors and of course you get these dumbasses that just walk from the parking lot right in, as the line is slowly moving in... Me and some guys around us went off on them, it was hilarious, but they still got in... too bad they didnt have someone by the door. Oh well, got in, expecting to find no more hard drives (the thing i was really looking for), and lo and behold there were still 10 or so sitting on the ground in front of the hard drive display, i just walk up and grab one, others standing around looking at their ad and at the shelf... idiots. haha, anyway, was stoked to find that.
Wandered around after getting that, wondering if I could score one of those UPSes for my server, walked around, saw an endcap, but only the 500VA models were there, so i thought that was it, until i saw 3 people walk from the rear of the store with one in hand, go back there and theres a shelf full of 'em... i grabbed one, and another guy grabbed the last one. Mine wasnt sealed with that clear round sticker, but i didnt care too much, looked new. Funny story tho... when we were in the checkout line, there was a UPS sitting on the PS2 games shelf, and it was all sealed, so i go and switch it with mine... guy finally comes back for his after like 5 min... didnt notice a thing. haha
Seemed like a lot of people were there for the digital camera, as everyone went to the camera area, but no one had any clue what was on sale, my g/f stood around there for a while waiting to see what it was that was on sale, the clerk had no clue. It turned out it was the ones that were sitting RIGHT IN FRONT OF EVERYONE. So once they figured out which ones it was, those were gone fast. Then they told us we can get
rainchecks for the items, so we stood in line for 20 min waiting for the customer service person to get thru all the rainchecks... family of 3 in front of us, and they wanted 3 rain checks for the camera, so the gal behind the desk says one per household, so the b*tch tells her husband and daughter to fill out different addresses on the form. Now the customer service rep finishes the first one, and shes like "they will deny these if u use the same credit card", trying her best to say no, but she busts out another credit card. By this time im making comments to my g/f about how people should be happy they get one, loud enough for the dumbasses in front of me to hear them. Got some dirty looks, but oh frickin well, people are way to greedy.
Turns out, at least in our store, you could have gotten rainchecks for anything in the ad, which i thought was pretty sweet. I got one for the camera... i know its not the greatest camera, but i need somethin. Dont know if they did that at other stores.
Spent a total of almost 2 hrs from getting in line b4 opening to checkout. But it was worth it!
All-in-all, a very good trip: 175GB HD, APC 300VA UPS, 2 CD wallets, and a raincheck for the camera. This will all go very well with the 75GB HD and 256MB RAM from BB that i got yesterday for $45 AR. Of course, the Credit Card is gonna need a long rest after this binge
