If that occurs, no amount of 'warrior history' is going to save Japan and China has a history of crushing the people and cultures they conquer. If Japan finds itself under Chinese occupation, I hope you still believe might makes right and that it was the fault of the Japanese government in letting their country be conquered.

<edit>This is btw why I support an American presence in the Pacific. A ton of our industries are dependent on Asia and we provide a counterbalance to what is growing to be a dominant Chinese position.

What the Japanese did to those South Pacific Islands was to subjugate the people that were mainly ignored by the Western nations.

There were artificial governments set up by the Western Powers after WWI centered around one or two islands for the government purposes. The locals were not turned into automated slaves; most were treated reasonably so as to work the plantations.

The Japaneses would slaughter anyone they found that was a westerner, local leaders and enough of the local population in an attempt to keep them docile.

Please. There won't be any occupation. An analysis was done by the organization that I worked for on how fast Japan can turn it's nuclear materials to weapons grade. The answer? 4 months. If the China seek to occupy they will pay a high price for it (as will Japan). The occupation of Japan by China is not something the Japanese lose sleep over.

Show me where China is retreating in South of China Sea. A link or two (not from Wiki) will be fine.
