genocide, kv. Yeah I know gangsta rap is dead. What I am talking about is it's legacy. Turn on Hot 97 in NYC and listen to 5 hip-hop songs. Chances are you will hear one of the following words (or some variation of) "gun", "bitch", "murder", "drugs" in four out of five of the songs.

Just because "gangsta rap" as a genre is dead does not mean that all the negativity and violent content it introduced into the hip-hop community died with it.

Before "gangsta rap" infested hip-hop, the music was all about fun. Now all I seem to hear about is ?awesome dude this, awesome dude that? ?I?m going to kill this awesome dude? ?Bitch this and bitch that.?

Sure the stupid genre is dead but look at what it left behind. If you can?t see it you?re just blind.

My objection with most rap isn't lyrical; some rap is quite poignant. My objection with rap is the lack of musical talent. Don't even try to tell me that musically, Dear Mama is a difficult song to write. I'm an amateur guitarist, and could write better songs, musically, on the keyboards (knowing very little about piano) and much better on the guitar.

My $.02. Worth about that much, as well.
