So Colbert survives. It is open season.
And there is your moneymaker. Wanna get rich? (ill only take 5%).
1. Learn Ventriloquism
2. Carve up a real good Donny
3. Collect all the Donny jokes
4. Go on tour (could start with youtube).
5. Profit.

This is exactly it. If a conservative host said it, they'd be outraged. Liberal dude says it, it's ok. Same thing happens around here all the time.

It's not the first time for him, he's made racist comments in the past. Which are just fine because he's not a conservative. Typical hypocritical left.

People should be upset by the comment no matter which way they lean.

From a political group who clearly "can dish it out but not take it" I just love that they are being so damn hypocritical while calling someone a hypocrite. It's almost paradoxal.

What else do you expect from the GOP, who define hypocrite. Look what's going on with their "health care" legislation. For 6 years, the right screamed about "lack of transparency" in the ACA's vote.

But now, when they get to show how it's done, the right chooses to not have the legislation scored by the CBO prior to vote, nor do they allow it to be seen in its entirety prior to the vote.

Can't believe how thinned skinned Trump is.
I mean really.....
When you remember the things said about Obama, Hillary, even Bernie Sanders yet Trump i.e. Fox News just can't take it.
Which by the way, who really gives a rats ass anyway.
Call Trump anything you want. Most likely the criticism will be a perfect fit.
I mean right on. Hitting the nail on the head. A hole in one.
What really should be the subject matter is just how severely mentally ill Donald Trump actually is.
We're talking just this side of full on drooling at the mouth and saying the first thing that comes into ones head.
Well, at least the drooling part is yet to come.

LOL!!! The fox news team is still gnawing at this bone of stupid. They are just aghast with the naughty language Colbert used.

Whatever will they do?

Good possibility. Not sure why they're not looking to amend the current ACA to correct the "issues" rather than put something forward that will more than likely cause more issues.

I know, and it's quite simple: Trump has this fetish of destroying everything labeled "Obama." That really is the only thing that's in this whole presidenting thing for him. The guy set an explicit goal, right around 2012 or whenever Obama ribbed him at the WHCD (probably explains Trump's PTSD for not attending this year), to become POTUS and show him up! ...I think that is his only goal. Hell, I give him credit for making that happen, however it happened, through whatever duplicitous means....but achieving POTUS for the sole intent of "Erasing Obama" is both petty and completely unproductive. The guy never once cared about a single human not named Donald Trump, so it should be completely unsurprising to anyone that he is unqualified for this job.

anyway, I agree with all of your points in this thread. It seems more and more clear to me that explaining the actions of Trump and his people simply boils down to his lifelong pettiness about "righting" grievous "personal attacks," through any means necessary. I think his cognitive development arrested around age 11.

One could speculate on a few reasons. Ultimately, I think it comes down to how hard the Cons fought it for 8 years, and promises made on the campaign trail. Trump is used to bullshitting and it going largely unaccounted for because it's how he does business. Now he's the leader of the free world, said some things to get there, and can't simply fire the American voters who put him there.

Fired? Repub voters don't get fired- they get used & abused like battered spouse syndrome. From the perspective of their leadership, they're practically begging for it.

Sorry folks, you get zero latitude on being offended, because

I disagree with this piece of your post. To make this argument you are normalizing deviance. If Colbert's attacks are offensive to you, then I would not invalidate your right to be offended nor deny you the privilege of defending yourself.

And I am also not morally conflicted about Colbert's attack.

I disagree, but see your point. I am not normalizing deviance, I am just pointing out the blatant hypocrisy of the fox news team and their objection to Colbert using, what some consider to be offensive language. They are up in arms about it, yet 'grab them by the pussy' was just 'locker room talk'
tbh, I think Colbert nailed it, and drumpf is nothing but an athletic sock for putin's cock.

He's a comedian. It seems simple, if you like his jokes and criticisms, watch the show, if you think he is crass and disrespectful, don't. If enough people don't watch, his show will end.

"But if a conservative had said it..." Who cares. The solution to a double standard on free speech is to fight against restricting speech, not to fight for restricting both sides.

I think it's really good to point out that they are being hypocritical and you have a problem with that. But I don't think being a hypocrite ought to invalidate your right to feel mistreated or advocate for your right to be treated well.

And, since he is a comedian presenting an opinion and being intentionally inflammatory and risque as such is important to humorous work, I personally am not morally conflicted with Colbert's rant.
