As the lawyer says, there is really nothing that will stick to Teflon Don and the Trump train just keeps on rolling. There is zero evidence that Trump violated any type of campaign law statutes.

The charges against Manafort were largely unrelated to the Trump presidency, and the trial judge virtually banned the use of Trump's name through most of the trial. Furthermore, none of Manafort's crimes were ever linked to the president, and the vast majority of his alleged criminal activities predated his appointment as Trump campaign manager.

In pleading guilty, Cohen admitted to participation in a scheme to pay hush money payments to two women -- Karen McDougal and Stormy Daniels -- with whom Trump is alleged to have had affairs. Missing, though, were the details of Trump's intentional involvement in criminal activity substantial enough to tip the Constitution's "high crimes and misdemeanors" scale.

RE: Manafort. Everyone knows and has always known that these charges are not directly relating to conspiracy with Russia. Mueller's clear intent was to keep that part separate in this prosecution. His conviction is one step in a huge ongoing investigation.

RE: Cohen. Uhm. This was a guilty plea about Cohen's actions and no prosecution of Trump. Of course there is little detail. Yet this is more than enough to impeach Trump. Whether it is enough to warrant removal from office is another question altogether. Now... That is not to say that there is not plenty of additional evidence to back up what he swore to as part of his plea. We know of at least one tape. And we know that Pecker, also an unindicted co-conspirator in these crimes has talked to prosecution and received an immunity deal.

This opinion column has little merit.

It's not directly related.. But it's in the orbit of something larger.

Teflon Don? May be a myth. He has strong support with base, but he's far underwater with Is and Ds.

Negative double digits on approve/disapprove, as well as right track/wrong track.

That's with the econ still strong, and pre-Mueller, and no D led Congress investigations.

What's going to turn those numbers up? All the risk is to the negative.

Ds can't celebrate, but they are in a more comfortable place than Trump.

Meanwhile, that rat bastard Michael Cohen is spilling his guts to the Feds & the NY AG. Trump's fixer, the guy who cleaned up Trump messes for 10 years. The feds have his records, too. But. uhh, no problemo, right?

Manafort is a sideshow to that. He's going down, big time, and only Trump can save him. And only after his next trial is over. Probably not even then. His best case scenario is for Trump to be forced to resign, giving Manafort a pardon on his way out the door. If Trump remembers. Otherwise he'll have to wait until after the 2020 election or forever. Trump will be safe to do so no matter the outcome of the election. If he lasts that long & wins, it would mean he could get away with anything.

A better analogy would be if the special counsel investigated unrelated crimes by James Carville to corner Clinton on Whitewater, or if the FBI looked into the finances of the Podesta Group as part of their investigation into Hillary’s server.

Mueller cast a very wide net. I have no concerns over his ensnaring Manafort, but anything short of collusion or obstruction will not be enough to take down Trump.

You're whistlin' past the graveyard, Speedy. Cohen turning rat will open up new lines of investigation we can only dream of & more rats yet to come. People will stay silent about a lot of things if they can keep their heads down. It's different when the FBI starts asking pointed questions. Very different. Flipping gets really contagious sometimes.
