What I think is that I value your opinion and it was you o had in mind regarding democrats being tools. I have some confidence that if the members of any party are more able to weed out the worthlessruning for office it will be liberals owing to their greater insistence on objectivity. I think it is greater but who knows by how much.
It in the nature of people to for people to form associations and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. The problem in this specific instance is that it is also possible to form tribes where there are two sets of values, or one set which is weighted differently. My concern for the future goes beyond the color of the Standard, that of blue or red, but a temptation to hold others to standards that they do not their own as well. People like Cuomo bother me as there are various Rings of Political Power which are used amorally to achieve what might be worthy goals, however to me the means are as important as the ends because they demonstrate and are part of our true selves. I identify with a great many liberal values, and the Democrats contain like minded individuals but I am not partisan. Democrats and Republicans are irrelevant to me as they are nothingto be admired except as how they act and their values. They are a means to an end which can be used for proper means to benefit society, but they represent a trap for some. Do you want a REPUBLICAN? Do you want a DEMOCRAT? Honestly I don't want either. I want humanity, intelligence an a willingness to be a servant in leading.
For this time in history the Dems have the moral advantage, but like all humans can be led astray. This is my concern about people like Trump and Cuomo, that they achieve loyalty to their person and we surrender a bit of our positive natures for "Them and the Party".
I prefer those who's values align with those in movements and tribes because of their inherent goodness, innate or learned, much more than others who stand by their party right or wrong because they are never wrong. IMO the latter aren't morally grounded enough to say "if I would not tolerate this in myself or those I respect for cause then I cannot approve of corruption or skulduggery, or intentional criminal activities in the name of party advancement".
These people aren't evil but temptations for gain, having low standards, and not understanding themselves and acting in appropriate ways makes them vulernable and of narrow vision. They may want that which is right but compromise and accept that which is wrong too often.
We are imperfect creatures, but we can always improve along our journies.
