Normal everyday driving I get about 24-26 (highway to work). In the city, it gets about 14.

hehe...i have 17's...they have z rated...not about big, but what i like, they look nice, and drive well. low cars?? my car is at stock height. fat exhaust?? mine is about .5&quot; bigger than stock. quality.

My point is, these &quot;POS ricers&quot; (Imports to us non-judgemental people) can be just as fast as your Camaro for just as little $$$. You might have your big V8s, but turbo the hell outta a 4 cyl and it can be right up there performance wise 🙂

for $22k you can buy a stock Z28 Camaro. 330hp, running high 12's in the quarter mile. Tell me a $22k Jap car that rus that stock, and I'll acknowledge it
 
Show me an American car that cost $22K that can run high 12's that ain't ugly as hell, has good handling, and everything else good besides the engine, and maybe I'll buy 1.

Chevy Camarao = Highest Death rate because either 1 of the 2 reasons:

1. Its safety features all suck, and thats why its so cheap for so much power cause all the money was put into the engine and the engine only.

2. All the people who drive em, drive like @ssholes and kill themselves.

I don't know a single person killed in any car wreck, let alone the 16 friends of mine that drive Camaros, and the thousands of people I know on Camaroz28.com that drive Camaros. Its safety features suck? How's that? wheres your proof? show me documented proof that the safety features are bad.

And you say the Camaro is ugly, thats a personal opinion. I think nothing is uglier than any Jap rice burning piece of crap, and the ugliness only compounds when you ricers put big wings and stickers and big white windshield wipers cocked half way at all times. But thats my opinion.

Then you and your friends haven't seen the rest of the world. Maybe you should go out there some times, you'll see there are plenty of cars faster than your Camaro. Toyota Supra for example will spank your Camaro and feed it to the pigs. Oh yea and lets not forget the Mitsubishi 3000GT VR4... And both are alot sexier than that ugly Camaro. **But thats just my opinion 🙂**

According to these guys, yup. According to everyone else in the world: no.
 
Actually dynamix 3d might be onto something with his 2nd point. People do die in American muscle and I think its because they probabaly drive to bloody fast. I know that if somebody handed me a new V8 muscle car with 300+ horsepower I'd wrap it around a tree by this time tomorrow. I mean really, when your car is doing 5 seconds 0-60 how can you not?! The only reason it doesn't happen with porsches is because by the time the average joe can buy a porsche he's too much of a damned pussy to even floor it 🙂
 
Another reason is the demographic of people that buy this car (other than the fact they don't know what they're doing). Most Camaros and Stangs are bought by teenagers who just wanna go fast. Imagine someone who gets this as their first car, they're gonna end up smashing it up sooner or later with 325RWHP. But all in all it boils down to whether or not the people buying these cars know what they're doing, which I thought naturally ties in with inexperience.

Secondly, I asked for you to show me a hon-duh that will outrun an LS1 for $22k new. Sure, there may be some ricemobile with $15,000 worth of mods (complete with 10&quot; fart pipe), but never one stock. And given the same amount of money to mod each, a Camaro and a hon-duh, the Camaro will still win

Sure, there are some fast Jap cars. I will never ever drive one, I happen to have pride for my country, not to mention hearing the stupid whining and/or buzzing sound of a Jap 4 banger or V6 makes me want to puke, while the rumble of an American V8 gets my blood pumping. But how much do these rice bombs cost? How available are they in the US? Don't see any on any lots here in town, especailly not any that I can stroll down and pay $22k for. or maybe thats because I'm in Texas, capital of the American V8 (especially the fbody) world, where driving a rice bomb will get your ass kicked. And your opinion on how it looks is just that, your opinion. Its not worth jack sh!t in this conversation.

V8's don't rumble anymore, they purr and growl. The only engines that rumble are gone, lost to the days of yore. The only engine you'll find that rumbles is under the hood of a good ol muscle car. And as far as the price is concerned of the Imports, you're also getting something you don't get in the US cars: Refinement. Not just under the hood, I think the US cars have that area down pat, but on the inside. Domestic cars have a horrendous habit of using plastic and vinyl all over the place. The interiors don't feel &quot;cheap&quot;, but they definitly don't compare to a leather interior of a Supra or RX7. I'm a person that isn't too into refinement, hell I'm gonna be driving a steroid-induced Shadow by the end of the month. But there's just something about a dead solid car, inside and out.

A Camaro can have 800 Horsepower Twin Turbo like a Dodge Viper Venom 800TT and I still wouldn't buy one cause it looks like a POS. If I am gonna buy an American car I will buy one that has style. And so far I haven't found any that meet my standards besides a Viper. And we all know that no one in this thread can afford one, so I guess that gives up my hopes. 🙁
 
My point exactly. We have to compromise since we can't afford a viper (even when I can I won't buy one). Price vs performance, the LS1 is my choice. You can have yor rice. That's your choice.
 
$500 spent on a 2001 LS1 is an 11 sec car genocide. I bet $500 won't turn a stock civic or other import in that price range into an 11 sec car. That's where my logic for cost vs. performance is coming from.
