this thread is laughable.. thanks for the grins, I needed them today. lol

I will never drive a rice buring Jap import piece of sh!t

You know what? People who drive foreign cars don't "hate" domestics; they merely think their cars are better for what they want. However die hard drivers of domestics (not all, but many) often seem to loathe imports because they are "ball-less pieces of sh*t". Nothing like insecurity to make a person defensive 😛

you have a point there skoorb as it does pertain to some of the domestic drivers. I myself just think it's utterly stupid to buy a civic or other ricemobile, add 50 stickers to it with a god-awful ugly wing, knowing you don't have the muscle to back it up. Not to mention the fact that the thing sounds like my d@mned weed eater with too much oil in the gas. They think a 5" exhaust tip is a real significant performance mod when added to, what, a 1 1/2" exhaust system. Please.....

i wouldnt call it stupid...i mean people jack up their trucks and stuff..and some ake it look awful with 1829 anttenaes, and every rock station in the US bumper stickers. i mean its what they want. there are many people who have taste..and dont add the huge ugly gtr wings and stickers...but its not fair to say rice and whatnot..its offensive. and what about those that "rice" up a saturn, probe, excort, focus, neons, they are all domestic?? and the huge suvs that get fit for mudding and as soon as they touch mud they sink like a rock. i think skoorb is right, insecurity cause its not what you like. hey i wanted a TA, it was outside my monthly income, so i liked the SI. and what is wrong with that??? how are all people no muscle?? did each and every last single one of them pop their hood for you, they could be sleepers. i just think its not right to ridicule people for something they want to do.

I see your point. When I say "rice", I don't necessarily mean just "imports". For example, a 3.8L camaro with a wing, stickers, and whatnot to be rice just like the next import with the same thing. Any car can be "riced". By riced, I mean a car advertising parts thru stickers and they know they don't have any of those mods . By riced I mean someone who puts a loud annoying exhaust on a underpowered car just for the sake of making noise. I don't dislike all imports, just those guys who "rice" their car and try to run with faster cars and throw excuses like "well, mine's only 1.4L and yours is 5.7L" when they get their @ss handed to them and those guys that try to pull "ricer fly-bys" when they lose. There are quite a few imports I do like. It's just the attitudes of some of the guys driving them.

Yes, like the guy I see driving around town in a $2k old Acura and the ENTIRE rear windshield has a big Acura logo on it. Or the 3 teenagers I saw the other day in a car that couldn't be worth more than $3k, coffee can exhaust included and they had the gall to rev at me at the lights!

yeah, attidues gotta go sometimes.

<< Any car can be "riced". By riced, I mean a car advertising parts thru stickers and they know they don't have any of those mods >>

i hate that!! i mean, do they get paid??? like type r stckers here in states, um nooooo!
yeah anything to make noise is useless, but i just ignore and laugh to myself, but you knkow, the person might realy want to be able to go all out on it, but the poor guy might have no money to work with, then i feel bad for laughing. but like, "ORTEGA" in odl english on back of trucks??? i guess you never spend too much time in the parking lot. the only stickers on my SI is the VTEC sticker it came stock with.

edit: skoorb: smoke em!!

luckydragon: i think you haven't seen a fast civic then.. the thing about civics are they are LIGHT. When you drop a GSR engine into a civic, it will beat a mustang or camaro off the line easily as well as in the quarter..

i'd much rather have a fast sleeper car than something that screams "I'M FAST!" or at least screams "I THINK I'M FAST!"

it's much better to beat a crappy honda with giant wing and stickers in my Passat family car, than to do it with a v8 camaro.

<< When you drop a GSR engine into a civic, it will beat a mustang or camaro off the line easily as well as in the quarter.. >>

Total BS. Magazine bench racers need to do their homework. Dropping a GSR engine in will NOT drop 3 seconds off the 1/4 times. Stock M6 Z28's run high 12's, low 13's in the 1/4 my friend. Put down that Car & Driver magazine and go get some fresh air.

Well, I ask you to bring it out, but don't forget the bottle.

I see what you mean BBD, I am just saying a GSR engine swap will not drop 3 seconds off that car. No way. It might hit 14's , but no where close to low 13's or high 12's. Even on slicks it wouldn't. Lemme get a few other opinions on it, will post the link shortly.

An advantage those Honda engines have is the aftermarket turbo kits available. A friend of mine knows someone with a GSR pushing 9psi and he's running low 13's. Not bad for 2-3 thousand bucks.

yea. Genocide, 9psi on a LS1 = 11 sec car. "0" psi= 12.90's bone stock down to the paper air filter. The way I see it, stock vs. stock and mod vs. mod, the LS1 can't be beat by any ricer, period. And the MSRP of $22k is hard to beat for 325 rear-wheel hp (base model).

Not trying to flame anyone, just trying to rationalize your point of view.

lol.. you kidding me?

All you people with your damn muscle cars need to stop talkin sh!t about imports. You and your damn mustang's and camaro's. There is a reason why a mustang and a camaro are faster than a Honda Civic and Integra GSR, but are still in the same price range. That is because the only thing good about the damn cars is that they have a powerful engine. The cars are ugly as hell and come with sh!tty handling stock. Also since its American and the parts don't have to be imported and it doesn't come from another country its alot cheaper to make parts for the stock cars. Now Honda/Acura is definately the best engine makers out there cause they can take the smallest engines and put top end power inside of them, throw it into a small light car and you instantly have a low horsepower car with 4 cylinders competing with high end mustang V8's. Honda is known for its long lastability in cars and great 4 cynlinder engines. Why make your engine a V6 or V8 with 220HP when you can fit 220HP into a 4 cylinder? 4 cylinders are lighter, therefore 220HP in a 4 cylinder hatchback would run alot faster than a 220HP V8 in a mustang (since both the car and the engine are heavy as hell). Now don't get me wrong, I don't hate all domestic cars, but just about all of them are ugly as sh!t, and all domestic cars just think about who has the most horsepower and could give a sh!t about anything else. My favorite car happens to be a Dodge Viper Venom 800TT, even though I am a huge import fan I will always dream I had that car. That is the only car made with style and performance all in one. It has to be the fastest car I have ever heard of stock and legal for the streets. Its the only american car that ain't ugly in my opinion. So get my point and stop trying to knock imports cause it makes no sense. Imports and Domestics should be seperated cause there are two totally different kinds of people who like them.

Exactly. They are TWO DIFFERENT TYPES OF CARS for TWO DIFFERENT TYPES OF PEOPLE. One was made for power and racing. The other was not. Any way you look at it, stock vs. stock or mod vs. mod, the imports will lose every time. Say, Civic Si with NOS and Z28 or TA with NOS. The Si will never win. Stock vs. stock it won't win either. 2 different cars for 2 different types of people. End of story.

yea we all know alot of German and Italian cars also have lots of power, but they are for rich people.... so they are not included. Unless its VW. 🙂

How many MPG are you getting city driving Cable god? I'm borrowing my mother's '00 imprezza and I get like fvcking 20 mpg when I drive normally. Its only got 145 horsepower! Goddamn it pisses me off, I've almost decided my next car is diesel VW. They basically do not run out of fuel ever 🙂

At least for you you probabaly get around high teens or 20 but you have 300+ horsepower to play with vs my sorry 145 under an auto transmission. I had to get this off my chest!
