I have it installed and it works fine here...
Haven't tried it, but it's in the release note it says it doesn't work. Strange part is I remember it working with the 8.12 beta driver.

? The ATI Avivo video transcoder does not currently use GPU acceleration
under Windows Vista 64-bit edition

Why should we? ATi let us know what's going on with this title.

Honestly I like ATi and all, but this is getting out of hand now. Why make us wait till the end of the month for drivers that are dated Jan 13 09, that are worst than Dec 17 08 drivers?

RAWR....

so ATI picked up a bad habit from AMD.

Overpromise, and under deliver?

I thought 9.1 drivers were suposed to be our pwnage drivers.

Ima be looking at getting 2 GTX295's soon. :
Im honestly tired of this ATI BS.

Maybe because people expect ALOT out of monthly drivers? Its not ATi overpromsing, but you guys over hyping yourselves. 😛

Dang, and im still using cat 8.8.

releasing links for drivers 2 days b4 it was up on the site, then linking old drivers for the new 9.1 drivers = sounds like AMD to me.

kinda like LOOK its barcelona... no nevermind its bugged...

Lets not start talking about PHII and how everyone is very disapointed at its max overclock on retail chips.

Another overpromise under deliver. *sigh*

I just want my 4gpu system to actually work.

Yeah I'm going to wait and see how these 9.1 drivers are, and they decide if I want to get the GGTX285 or not...

I don't think I'll bother with those. Everything is running perfectly fine with the 8.12s WHQL I'm using and I don't think I'll get any extra FPS in Baldur's Gate (BGT to be more precise), which I'm playing now 😛 Actually, the first CPU core is running 100% most of the time in this game (obviously the engine is not multithreaded) which is like  That's a C2Q at 2.66GHz.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it in my case 😛 Or something like that 😀

dude im running 2 HD4870X2's.

if i could pick all over again, "F" ATI.

No joke.

Go NVIDIA you'll be so much happier with better drivers, and better performance on most games.

To be honest I haven't had 1 single problem with my 4870 and games and any driver that Ati has released. All my games run problem free and smooth on what ever setting I use.

Well I had a chance to test Crysis Warhead, Far Cry 2 and UT3 to compared with the 8.12 HF driver and I'm glad to say there isn't any real change so I'm more than likely sticking with this driver. The one thing I will mention though is I'm using the enable multithread support in ATT, so I'm not sure if that makes any difference.

Same, installing now report my feedback later.

LINUX versions are out too 🙂
i'd like to see more gpu computing support being implemented like with cuda tho
guess it'll happen eventually

No issues to report with the 9.1s solid and stable as usual so thumbs up from me  .

Just curious, which games?

I'll be testing them in a range of games for my review soon, but for now:

http://www.xbitlabs.com/articl...splay/catalyst-91.html

Pretty much every test is equal to or faster than 8.12 hot-fix.

Warhead seems to have gotten a big boost. Damn it, if only I had these drivers when I've played Warhead.

Honestly I took others peoples word for it only to find out after my own testing the performance is fine. I'm still testing more titles so if I do find a problem game I'll let you know, but in the meantime it looks like I was wrong.

Here's another site that did testing, but they didn't combine 8.12HF into the review.
Computerbase 9.1 Review

All games so far run without issue and have no noticeable performance drop for me. I don't see what all the complaints are for. I think these drivers are getting more complaints than the 8.12s that actually had problems were getting.

Just to clarify, I'm not complaining about problems these drivers caused. I'm just upset that DX10 Far Cry 2 still hitches like mad and COD WaW still has annoying line around water.

Working good here. Smooth sailing. Haven't seen the "display driver stopped working" error message with dual displays since installing.

So far so good. No noticeable changes for me. Still some glitches in games, but from researching it's not the video's fault but the game developers 🙂

Lemme get something straight, because I can never remember:

Is the proper Ati driver procedure to uninstall old : : Install new, or can you just run the installer and let it take care of everything?

I typically:
1) uninstall the driver
2) reboot into safe mode
3) use Driver Sweeper to clear out any leftover files or registry entries
4) reboot and install the new driver

These steps may not be needed, but always works for me.

You don't need to uninstall if you're just updating the driver.

I install my drivers the old fashion way, and it always works just fine.
1) Extract the the files
2) Go to device manager
3) load the driver

I download the driver, double click the installer, click next a few times, reboot, the end. There's no reason to do it any other way if you are just updating the driver and not changing video cards.
